olling Green Village is a premiere Life Plan Community in Greenville, SC. Established through the generous gift of Hoke and Mildred Smith, it sits on 175 acres and naturally includes a abundance of inviting green space. The property features numerous walking trails, a bird sanctuary and our very own blue heron and resident catfish. The Smiths’ purpose was to establish the first continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Greenville. Their nephew Russell Smart, along his wife Helen, worked tirelessly to get Rolling Green Village built, and it now has a 36-year legacy of providing quality senior living to families from all over the United States. Giving support and care to seniors and their families, Rolling Green is one of the largest nonprofit employers in South Carolina. Behind its success is an amazing group of employees who make the Village not only a great place to live, but also a place for meaningful work. Our team members are committed to the Rolling Green vision of providing “remarkable service to remarkable seniors.” Simon Senek, author of “Start with Why,” teaches us that truly great companies and employees know “the why.” Our employees, at the very core, have a purpose and belief that what they do is more than just performing tasks for our seniors. Their “why” is helping our residents prosper at all levels of care — independent living, assisted living, skilled care or short-term rehab. You may think we’re exaggerating because every community says, “We have the best staff!” At Rolling Green, we really do. Let me introduce a few outstanding employees who change the world every day.

LCS Hospita ONE We greet warmly, by name and with a smile.

TWO

Beatrice Perez Beatrice and her family moved from Columbia, South America to work in Greenville. One of her current co-workers at Rolling Green recruited her, and we’re all grateful. Beatrice takes great pride in her work as a housekeeper, making the hallways, offices and bathrooms sparkle. That is her job, but her “why” comes from her love of sharing and serving incredible people. When she is not spending time with her daughter Celeste, you can find her here cleaning, sharing stories, helping residents put puzzles together and always asking, “Is there is anything else I can do for you?” Beatrice invites you to visit Rolling Green and see why she thinks it’s a wonderful place to work.

We treat everyone with courteous respect.

THREE We anticipate your needs and act accordingly.

Sam Hill Around Rolling Green, Sam is known for his beautiful smile, his charisma—and his food. For seven years, he has been serving up love to our residents. When you ask him why he does it, he will laugh and say, “because I love to cook, and I love the Rolling Green Village residents.” Sam started cooking with his grandmother when he was 12 years old and hasn’t stopped. She was his inspiration and instilled in him a devotion to cooking. Every day, he lives by the motto “safety, quality, production.” It is no wonder our residents consider him family and vice versa. Sam has three children, and two of them are already following his lead in caring for others. His oldest son is studying to be a dentist, and his daughter, a recent high school graduate, will be pursuing a career in nursing. His youngest son is 12 years old, and as Sam says, “He has his whole life ahead of him. I just want him to dream big.” Sam is a shining example of our Life Care Services (LCS) Hospitality Promises.

ality Promises TEN We pay attention to details.

NINE We maintain high levels of professionalism, both in conduct and appearance, at all times.

EIGHT We ask, “Is there anything else I can do for you?”

Felicia Shell Nine years ago, this courageous, hardworking CNA (certified nursing assistant) joined the Rolling Green Village family. After a while, she also took on the responsibility of becoming a “MedTech,” distributing medication to residents, along with a laugh, a hug or a word of encouragement. Felicia has four children, including 16-year-old twins, and one grandson. Her co-workers are so grateful for her service. She is willing to work anytime and take on new responsibilities. People who meet Felicia would never guess this astounding employee is a breast cancer survivor. Even with all of the chemotherapy and radiation, she managed to work and take care of her family. When Felicia told her friends and relatives, they would start to cry; immediately, she responded with, “Why are you crying? This is just the beginning of a new journey for me. With God within, I can do whatever path I travel.” Her gentle and steadfast spirit are integral to her success in our assisted living and skilled nursing neighborhoods. Thank you, Felicia, for embracing our hospitality promises and making everyone feel as special as you have proven yourself to be.

SEVEN We embrace and value our differences.

Sylvester Kennebrew SIX We make you feel important.

For 33 years, Sylvester has been making Rolling Green Village’s floors shine or serving grilled salmon to our independent living residents. He completed a program at Greenville Tech, earning a certificate in “Hospitality,” and he definitely implements what he learned on a daily basis. Sylvester grew up in Fountain Inn and loves living close to his family. When he is not busy at Rolling Green, he enjoys bowling, tennis and basketball—and he works part-time as a bartender for the fun of it. Sylvester doesn’t hesitate to recommend Rolling Green as a workplace. “At Rolling Green, my work has purpose; I make a difference every day in residents’ lives. I am grateful for a job that is my home away from home,” he says.
