Senior Mike O'Brien, Siewe proved to be an able passer and his running was so impressive that Head Coach Ed Regan occasionally utilized him as a halfback.

Behind the somewhat unorthodox blocking of Jim Fiala, Bob Madden displays the form that netted him a spot on the Southern Ohio Prep All-Star team . Time
after time, a run just such as this by the offensive workhorse was directly responsible for an Eagle touchdown. Unable to watch the action on the field, Mike O'Brien quietly endures the final seconds of a tight 6-0 loss to the Colonel White Cougors.
Junior Quarterback Jim Siewe brought dawn from behind by a Lima Central tackler.

ME Interest and enthusiasm set the pace as students and faculty commenced the 1963-64 school year. Confidence gained through experience soon steadied their stride, and Chaminade men found that they possessed a Championship Cross Country Team, and outstanding dramatic talent as seen in the CAINE MUTINY COURT MARTIAL. But the painfully long period of the President's assassination slowed the pace, giving new meaning to the Underclass Retreat, and easing the students into the Christmas vacation. The return from the holidays convinced all that, despite prophesy for an off-year, the Eagles had a winning Basketball squad. Finally, several late and long nights in preparation for semester exams capped the first half of the year. Buoyant and lively, BYE BYE BIRDIE brought all running into the second semester. Soon afterwards, the six short weeks preceding the Festival were filled with raffle returns: much effort making this the most successful fund raising drive yet. For most the highlight of the second semester was a Regional Baseball Championship. And for all, the sprint was nearly finished as the fourth quarter, Spring, and LA DESPEDIA LATINA caused attention to turn from school work to the year's end: Graduation, May 23, 1964. 66

As students, we work, recreate, and live our lives with a view to a time when we will be established with a career and a family. Fred Wenzel and Tom Deuer worked, recreated, and lived their lives with a view to a time when they would be established with a career and a family also. But their lives and dreams were suspended very quickly: Tom died in the middle of our Junior year, and Fred during the 1963 Summer.
THOMAS J. DEUER
Because they died young, some might say that they prematurely. But {;Ioser to the truth is the view because they died young, they had done enough short period of time to perform the tasks for which had been created.
died that in a they
Der Kuhpfad, the ordinary way, is often the most difficult. And Tom probably earned hi.s way by performing those tasks which sometimes seem routine, but are really heroic in God's sight. Trying to do well at one's studies, and attention to daily responsibilities are regarded highly in God's judgment of a person.
Perhaps Fred's 'task was to have his leg amputated (excluding him from the football he had played for a year, and loved very much), and then to have the guts to smile as he hobbled up and down Chaminade's stairs on his cane and wooden leg, always late for class, always smiling. Congratulations to you both from the Class of '64.

Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life! IN ENGLEWOOD HILLS the best years of your life are now - if that is what you want them to be. Our best years are any years into which we pour all the love, the enthusiasm, the living that is in us. And the Gold Key Homes in Englewood Hills are designed and built to make it easy for your family to make these the best years of your lives. NEWLYWEDS love the thought and care 'that have gone into making Gold Key Homes almost completely maintenance-free and reducing housework to an absolute minimum giving the busy, young family the precious gift of time. THE GROWING FAMILY finds Englewood's schools and churches and the friendly, relaxed neighborhood of Englewood Hills provide the soil and the climate for sound, straight growth and deep, sustaining roots. THE MATURE COUPLE - children grown; husband, perhaps, retired - are never at a loss for something to do, never lonely, in the full, rich community life of Englewood J:lills where their "Golden Years" can truly be their best years. Gold Key Homes, our suppliers and associates are truly proud of the planning, care, and quality materials that have made a Gold Key Home in Englewood Hills this area's best home buy - by far.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS THANK YOU: BROTHER JOSEPH BARRISH, S.M., for your moderator's concern, shown particularly by your offering many professional ideas to help us perfect our own. Your inspiration when it was often needed was one of the greatest assets to the staff and to the '64 EAGLE. MR. ALBERT MIKULA for doing the ~ork that insured the financial backing of the annual. As business manager your handling of the ad campaign and yearbook sale provided the money needed to publish the book. LOGAN STUDIO for being there when the pictures were needed. As Chaminade's professional photographers your men gave our staff outstanding pictures with which to work. MR. PAUL RETRUM for your guidance as the Artmaster representative in helping a staff unaquainted with yearbook production to work out many technical problems. MR. IRVING LLOYD and KIRK ROWLAND for two days of creative photography that captured the personality of Chaminade in an entirely new light. JIM SCHOENBERGER for taking the extra burden of ad editor along with your responsibilities as business editor. JOSEPH M. PLUMMER Editor-in-Chief
