CJE at Sinai Adult Day Program The only adult day program in downtown Chicago, CJE at Sinai is designed for older adults with early-to-mid stage memory loss and other social and cognitive needs. The program offers activities tailored to each participant’s interest and general well-being, including creative arts therapies for self-expression, intellectual programs for cognitive enhancement and exercise, dance and active games for physical wellness. Experienced staff and volunteers provide respite for caregivers while participants enjoy a

variety of programs and socialization activities such as a recent field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. CJE at Sinai participants experience a sense of community. They form caring friendships with each other as well as have the

support of staff and volunteers. CJE volunteers add a special touch of warmth and bring their outstanding skills to CJE at Sinai participants. It is truly a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

“Volunteering is something that I have always enjoyed—from hands-on projects to lobbying at the national and state levels for seniors’ programs. I have been a volunteer at CJE at Sinai since the program began 8 years ago. Each week, I look forward to leading a current events discussion with the clients. I believe I get more from this interaction than they do. The relationships I have formed over time with the clients and staff are invaluable.”

Happy Birthday to our Lieberman Center Residents! One Sunday each month, residents of Lieberman Center for Health & Rehabilitation celebrate the birthdays of their fellow residents whose birthdays fall in that month. Cake, ice cream, and music highlight the festivities. Families and volunteers join in the merry-making. The Gregg Silver family has made it a family tradition to sponsor one of these celebratory events for the past several years. The Silvers, along with their friends, volunteer at the party and spread joy among the residents.

The Tapestry Project

The roll out has begun! Volunteers at Lieberman Center have begun using the new electronic touch screen time recording system. By the end of June, volunteers at Gidwitz, Friend Center, Horwich and ADS Howard should be able to use this system. Volunteers at Robineau, CJE Sinai and off-site volunteers will continue to record their time in the usual manner. Volunteers are being informed via email or postal mail as the system goes “live” at the CJE volunteer location.
