Shades of Gray

By Meghan Walsh

Gray furniture pieces and accents are freshening up spaces this year. The color is prominent in most aspects of interior design and can be found in common living spaces, bedrooms and dining rooms, says John Ferrato, owner of Wayside Furniture in Akron.

Speci cally, upholstered headboards remain popular, whether they are fully upholstered or a mix of wood and fabric or wood and leather, he explains, also incorporating gray and other moody shades.

“In upholstery, like living room furniture, the grays and taupes and linens are still 90% of the volume,” he says. “Blues are still coming up a little bit in upholstery.”
