Favorite Building Project This project was about us being able to take a physical building, look at it and be able to break it down and scale it. We had to draw a multi-view view drawing of the building as well as an interior view all drawn to scale with precise measurements. This project was challenging to me because I feel like I didn’t pick a building that was interesting enough to me so I wasn’t as passionate about the project. I did like that the project allowed me to really break down a building and look at it differently. I know now for the future that every step in a project is just as important as the next and to really take my time in preparation.

Tiny House Project Team Green I personally really enjoyed the group aspect of this project. I like working in groups and seeing other people’s ideas and designs. It’s interesting to see how everyone interprets the same assignment differently. Everyone in my team had such great ideas and I think that we came up with a very clean and functional design for someone interested in living in a tiny house. The project became more difficult for me once we had to start doing it our own. Computers and computer programs are not my strong point and I struggled when we had to take out physical ideas and transfer them into 2D pictures. It took me a lot of work and asking for direction to get my end result. This project was a big step in helping me become more comfortable with Sketch-up and using other computer programs such as Layout and Photoshop. I could still use some more practice but it started me off on the right foot and gave me confidence in using the computer for my designs. I’m proud of my end design and my team member’s designs as well. I love to see how different we all can create.
3D Cube Exercise Sketch up
Patterns Sketch up Exercises like these and the 3D cubes are really helpful to learning the basics about Sketch up. Although tedious and challenging they help you learn the program from the ground up
Original Tool Magnifying Glass
Updated Tool Lighted Magnifying Glass I added a light on the top of the tool to make it easier for the user to see what they are doing. The Bottom has a button to turn on and that is where the batteries are inserted as well.
Case Study #22 Stahl House
1635 Woods Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90069 Architect Pierre Koeing Mid-Century Modernism Owned by Stahl House Inc. Opened in 1960
My group and I modeled a replica of the Stahl House in order to represent mid-century modern architecture. Group: Christina Kezar Rita Gondinez Chi Nguyen
New and Improved Stahl House In order to make the Stahl House look and seem more modern I wanted to give it a more open feel where one felt like there was plenty of open space to entertain guest and enjoy the beautiful view of Los Angeles. I felt as though the main living room should be more of an open concept but because of the slimness of the building I felt it would be better to build out versus wide. By bringing the building out about 10 more feet it created a bigger entertaining space that could fit more people comfortably. By doing this however, the room then felt way too long and short and closed off the view instead of highlighting it. So to fix this problem I raised the height of the exterior wall closest to the view to really focus attention to the panoramic. Because I raised the roof, the exterior wall became heavier so I added additional supports to the bottom to support the extra weight.
