Kris Brown, ASLA, President and founding partner of la terra studio, obtained his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Texas Tech University.
Michael Black, ASLA, is a founding principal of la terra studio and a graduate from Mississippi State University. As CEO of la terra studio, his experience in a wide range of projects allows him to manage each project’s unique complexities. Whether the projects are just down the street in Dallas or on the other side of the globe in China, Michael thrives on well thought-out, creative designs that are practical for the client and memorable for the user. Michael is a registered landscape architect in Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. He is also a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, and the National Recreation and Park Association.
As an urban designer and registered landscape architect in Texas and California, Kris has been responsible for all aspects of professional management and project implementation. His effectiveness in problem solving and creative design solutions, coupled with a sincere respect and appreciation for client needs, are strong points for flawless execution and successful project closeout.
Chris Barkley
is a 2006 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. He is a LEED Accredited Professional,working towards his professional licensure. Chris has experience on both national and international projects ranging from large-scale urban design to highly detailed outdoor environments. He has experience in corporate, mixed-use commercial, hospitality, urban living and urban design projects. Chris enjoys collaborating with clients and consultants to create sustainable, innovative and memorable spaces that infuse art and landscape; creating a unique experience for every user.
Nick Smith , designer and project manager at la terra studio, graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Ball State University in 2005. Prior to becoming a member of la terra studio, Nick managed the design process of several domestic and international high-end hospitality, urban planning, and mixed-use commercial projects. Nick believes attention to detail must be a priority on every project to ensure accuracy of design and achieve the best finished product. Nick enjoys the creative partnership between architects, engineers, and other design professionals that helps to define truly successful projects.
Holly Dawson, ASLA,
received her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Texas A&M University in 2006. She is currently seeking professional licensure. A passion for problem solving and a desire to design led her on a professional path in landscape architecture. Her experience includes various scale projects in transportation, community development, urban design, parks and more. This has given her the ability to participate and appreciate the design, planning, and construction process. Holly enjoys being able to work with the built and natural environment in an effort to create experiences and spaces that are both functional and beautiful.
Collin Koonce received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Texas Tech University in 2009. He recently finished graduate studies at the University of Georgia earning a Master of Environmental Planning and Design. Dedicated to creating better spaces for people accompanied with a passion for problem solving, he continually seeks out design opportunities. As a LEED Accredited Professional he understands the importance of quality environments and the impact that those spaces have on everyday life. Collin is currently working toward his planning (AICP) and landscape architecture (LARE) professional licensures. Building on and creating new client and colleague relationships is a priority for him and ultimately result in the success of his projects.
