Tied for Gold
This garment was inspired by the late 1950s and early 1960s. I took two vintage rompers and combined them to make one dress. I then added the ties across the front for embelishment and color.
Muslins
These garments were made out of muslin. The details of the vest include five buttons/button holes, four darts, and a lining. The blouse’s details include a mandarin collar, a yoke, seven buttons/button holes, and four darts.
The shorts above were made out of a knit polyester fabric. The details include a fly zipper, a hook and eye, a waistband, and six darts. The skirt was made out of muslin. It includes pockets, a center back zipper, and eight darts.
Amped
The assignment in my Foundations class was to construct a stuffed creature out of any textiles of our choosing. I created a creature that was inspired by the 1980s, focusing on music from that era.
Collision (Trend Forecasting) Fall/Winter 2013
In my Industry, Theory, and Practice class we each had to create a trend forecasting book. My book, Collision forecasted the trends for the Fall/Winter of 2013. I predicted that the progression of trends from “sub-culture” to “pop-culture” would be Love Potion, Frozen In Time, and Lost in Space. The next two pages are excerpts from Collision. Frozen in time
Description: Frozen in Time is a trend that celebrates the beauty of the past. Almost every place in our
world has evolved, changing cars, styles, architecture, etc. But one place that has basically stayed the same is the country of Cuba. Today you can still see old cars and exquisite buildings that were built in the 1930s, feeling as if you are living in that day and age. This trend brings us back in time reliving the elegance and sophistication of the 1930s but mixing it with the bright and daring colors of the Cuban culture. Now, the glamorous evenings of dancing the night away in Havana are back with Frozen in Time. 3

Polyhedron Prisms
The objective of this project was to use Bristol paper and create a three dimensional polyhedron. The construction of these Polyhedron Prisms was inspired by the aloe plant, roots, and natural growth patterns in nature.
Asha
Asha, meaning “life in Swahili is an earring inspired by the bright colors and beauty of Africa and the African culture. This is a single earring that is worn assymetrically. It includes a piece that goes through your lobe and an ear cuff that hugs the Anti-helix.This can be worn with a stud in the opposite ear.
Cleopatra BEFORE
AFTER
This dress was inspired by Egypt and the 1963 film, Cleopatra. I took this colorful, vintage find and upcycled it to make it into a more hip, close fitting garment. Adjustments were made to the side seams, arm holes, and hem. Chains were also added to the arm holes to create an Egyptian detail.
