Collaboration between Antonia Caffrey and Clara Traynor of Clara-Bella. Their juxtapositions invite the audience to make intellectual connections.
The garments are a mix of the aesthetics of both artists. Clara’s colour palate and aesthetics are often quite dark and subdued with high areas of embellishment. Antonia’s work however is not for the faint of heart. It’s in your face colours and titled work such as ‘the Horney asylum’ and slogans like ‘you stink of slut’ are loud and whimsical.
Both artists have elements of subtlety, brashness and a penchant for the vulgar. With Clara’s dark flippancy, drawing on themes such as 1930s freak shows and Antonia drawing on the drugs, sex and celebrity both have been drawn to the aspects of the publics nature of observing others and voyeurism.
