About Me
Education
I am an innovative and driven industrial design student from Germany and currently in my first year at Northumbria University. Using my imagination and problem solving skills, I enjoy the challenge of various design briefs individually and as a team. As I am a natural linguist I have good communication skills and in addition I enjoy applying my drawing and software skills to communicate my ideas. It is my aspiration to develop products that enhance life and thus I could imagine myself to develop sustainable design, because I am concerned about our environment, finite resources and our community. As there is no end to design innovations and it develops continuously, I am delighted to enter a career that offers me a life long development.

HIERARCHICAL FORMS An abstract set of playing pieces which show hierachy in the group.
GROW A furniture piece that grows with the child considering product longevity and emotional attachment.
RESEARCH The research covers products on the market which successfully tackle the issue of product longevity and show an appearance suitable for children of various ages. To obtain a better insight of the environment and activites of children, I have created a timeline of different furniture pieces that are used in a child’s life at different ages.
IDEA GENERATION Inspired by a family tradition to mark the height of the child at each birthday, I have used sketches to further develop this idea. My solution involves the combination of a measuring wall and a coat rack/ stand. Sketches and plastic card models have helped to conceive a suitable hook system.
FINAL CONCEPT The piece of furniture is a chair, a coat stand and a measuring wall at the same time and is suitable from the age 0 to up to 12 and more. The piece is made of wood and is kept simple to appeal to different ages. The engraved lines ensure accurate measurements and correspond to the hooks. These coloured hooks are pushed into the holes on the side of the back rest and hence their position reduce the risk of injury. The curved seat is of a size appropiate to various ages.
TACTILE PACKAGING A packaging design that communicates its content by its tactile qualities
IDEATION I have started with analyzing the product of its shape, characteristics and consumption. This included the split nut, the kernel and the shell on its own. Resarch has shown that the pistachio splits when the fruit is ripe and this happens with an audible pop. During the process I have continously generated many ideas in the form of sketches and examined potential solutions further in the form of simple maquettes.
FINAL MODEL The final packaging is inspired by the actual experience of opening a pistachio. The form conforms of the shape of the nut and the colours of the packaging teflect shell and kernel. Additionally, it is enhanced by a tactile experience on the top surface illustrating the simplified shape of pistachios. As the packaging consists of two halves, it is ideal for sharing and one half can serve to collect the shells.
PRODUCT DETAIL Sketchwork developing designs of a radio with an emphasis on the details of the product.
SHADOWPLAY A lamp made of a single sheet of polypropylene that has its focus on light & shadows
“Coquille is to create an atmosphere similar to the calmness of the sea and hence the lamp resembles the shape of a shell The shape of the light casts a comforting shadow and thus creating a relaxing environment ideal for the bedroom Due to its form the lamp supplies sufficient light to read a book.
