2) A LETTER FROM OUR LIEUTENEANT GOVERNOR CLARENCE MANGLAL-LAN Hey, Key Clubbers! I hope just by looking at the first two pages, you are liking our new Divisional Newsletter, The Service Purpose, entitled with regards to one of Key Club’s three domains and main purposes, having the heart to serve. My name is Clarence Manglal-lan and I am more than excited to serve you, your club, your community, and our very own Division 1 North, as your Lieutenant Governor! As I get to know the many Key Club Members, Officers, and Advisors in our Division, here is some information about myself. Current Sophomore at North Crowley High School First Sophomore Drum Major in the North Crowley Band’s History Big Brother of a 4 year old Favorite color is Blue Plays Trombone, Baritone, and Piano Has held leadership positions in National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, etc. • Loves to Travel and Meet New People • • • • • •
I can’t wait to get to know the many people in our great Division! This year, our main focus will be increasing our impact in our community and city through service projects, additional volunteer opportunities, reaching out to high schools without Key Clubs, re-activating and starting up new Key Clubs, and working with our very own Kiwanis International sponsors. This year we will also be working very closely with our neighbors to the South, Division 1 South, so be prepared to have joint divisional meetings, joint divisional socials, etc. Until then, keep up with making an impact! 4) CIRCLE K Hey, Key Club Seniors! Thank you for all your service to our organization and division. Ready to leave high school, but not Key Club? Don’t worry… The Key Club spirit of service and Leadership continues beyond Key Club and high school. Don’t forget to join Circle K! The Kiwanis Service Leadership Program of College Students (The Collegiate version of Key Club.) With more than 12,600 members in 500 clubs in 17 countries, Circle K is the one of the, if not the, largest collegiate service organization of its kind in the World. With infinite leadership and fellowship opportunities, Circle K is an organization you don’t want to miss out on!

5) MAJOR EMPHASIS PROJECT: ELIMINATE The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is actively raising urgently needed funds for our global MNT Elimination program, along side our partners at Kiwanis International. In total, The Eliminate project will raise $110 million. You can help to save the world’s mothers and babies. Support The Eliminate Project, our historic partnership with Kiwanis International, and do your part to rid the world of MNT by 2017

7) Club Checklist Hey, Club Officers! Use this monthly checklist to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled. Update and send Club Officer Contact Information on the Texas- Oklahoma Key Club Website
Send in a maximum of 10 articles (3 articles minimum) every month to District Editor
Send Monthly Reports and Task of the Months to District Secretary
Ensure that new Club Officers in the new Board have been trained by Immediate Past Officers in the previous board
Finalize ICON Applications and Plans
Prepare proper Key Club Graduation materials for Key Club Seniors, (Suggest them to join Circle K!)
Begin drafting Key Club Summer Plans (Key Club remains active during the summer)
Assist Lieutenant Governor – Elect in scouting high schools without Key Clubs to activate new chapters

8) TEXAS–OKLAHOMA DISTRICT CONVENTION OVERVIEW This years District Convention, themed the Wizarding World of Service, went through fantastically! Marking the completion of another Great year of service, out of the 68 years, one of many more years to come. From the Welcoming Activities and Service Fair, the THOUSAND dollar scholarships given, the both fun and educational forums, and the Governor’s ball, one article is never enough to describe the amazing experience that is DCON. As a term in the 2016-2017 comes to a close, we both honor our former Executive Officer Board and District Board for their fantastic service, and welcome our new Executive Board, which consists of Jiya Willis, Governor, Shelby Morton, Secretary, and Sabrina Palma, Treasurer

9) Club of the Month With the addition of our new newsletter, we will be featuring a Club on our newsletter every month, in recognition of the shining and most outstanding club in our Division monthly. How to get featured as club of the month you may ask? Be active, keep your members busy with volunteer services and projects, keep up to date and communication with our LTG - Elect, send in plenty of pictures of events and activities, etc. Do all of this and your Club may be featured as Club of the month!

10) Newsletter Have any suggestions for The Service Purpose? Feel free to contact Lieutenant Governor Elect Clarence Manglallan, as our newsletter is open to all suggestions! If you have any pictures of any Key Club related event, meeting, conference, activity, etc. Please be sure to send it to Lieutenant Governor – Elect Clarence Manglal-lan as well! We would like to have as many photos as possible to feature on our newsletter.
