TERM 3 Term 2 was another big term at the Conservatorium with a big number of concerts, events and workshops for our students and members of the wider community. Term 3 is shaping up to be another action packed term. We thank you for trusting the Conservatorium with your music and drama education needs. We feel that education in the arts is an important part of any education and are fortunate to be able to provide this service to the Clarence Valley community. Boom BANG Boogie is back TERM 3 Dates BEGINS Mon 22 July (CVCon) Tues 23 July (School lessons)

Boom BANG Boogie is back and in Term 3 will be held on Monday 22 July. The workshop will provide an opportunity for students from Clarence Valley schools to participate in a combined band rehearsal, to make new friends from different schools and to perform in a short concert at the end of the session. The workshop will commence at 9.00am and will include a short concert performance at 2.00pm. Full details are on the CVCon website or are available by calling the CVCon office. Students will also reprise their performance and present the concert a second time that night (Monday, 22 July) at 7:00pm.
Kenny Broberg (Piano) WHAT’S YOUR MOBILE NUMBER? Have we got your number? Have you changed your number? Please make sure you update your details with us because the Con is now using a texting service to alert students & parents to any changes to lessons.
Kenneth Broberg is one of the top six prize winners of the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition and most recent winner of the silver medal at the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. In June 2019, Kenny was awarded third place in the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition. A free Workshop for piano students will be held at the Conservatorium from 4.00pm–5.30pm, prior to the Concert. If you are interested in attending the workshop you can book online at our website or pick up a registration form from our office.

Term 2 saw many CVCon music and drama students travel to both Lower Clarence and Coffs Harbour Eisteddfods to compete. CVCon Drama students scored highly at Coffs Eisteddfod and returned home with a number of awards. Congratulations to all who participated.
EXAMS
Congratulations to all CVCon students who performed in the Lower Clarence Eisteddfod.
Over the next few weeks a number of CVCon students will be participating in AMEB music exams. Good luck to those students who are preparing to sit exams this term. Relax & do your best! We look forward to sharing your success and we know that the holidays will be spent practicing those scales.
Kidzjam EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC
Term 3 Kidzjam (2-5 years) with Mel Smith This Early Childhood Music program provides children with an opportunity to discover, learn and have fun. The program enables a development of a musical appreciation through vocal, instrumental and aural activities. Kidzjam creates an enjoyable musical experience for both the children and carers. Each week activities will be focussed on a different musical subject which enables them to hear, see and play a variety of different musical instruments.

LACHy HAMILTON TRIO JAZZ Sydney saxophonist Lachy Hamilton is fast becoming a well-known performer on both Australian and international stages. At 23, Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the James Morrison Academy of Music, where he studied alongside luminaries Jeff Clayton, Matt Jodrell, Wycliffe Gordon, Troy Roberts and James Morrison. His debut album ‘Alchemy’, released to critical acclaim in March 2019, is comprised of original material inspired by Paolo Coelho’s novel The Alchemist. “The true meaning of Alchemy is realised throughout the album. The musicians work together in different roles, portraying characters and motifs from the novel”.
