LINGUA FRANCA: TEXT WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION
A Lingua Franca is language that is adopted as a common dialect between speakers whose native tongues are different. Words become modified to fill in gaps and overcome language barriers so that people can communicate more freely. This exhibition celebrates language by bringing together works from the collection that feature text. This exhibition traces the collaborative work between SPRUNG!! and Andrew Christie, through their construction of virtual reality experiences where conceptions of disability visually inhabit the digital space and complicate notions of ablism, mental health and gender expression.
