CREDIT APPLICATIONS & TAX EXEMPTIONS

All customers will be on a cash basis until credit is approved. Customers wishing to establish a line of credit with us must submit their completed request on a Midwest Trading application form and send in their letterhead or business card. Allow 4-6 weeks for processing. In addition, sales tax will be charged on all items sold in Illinois companies unless we have a resale certificate on file. Contractors working on tax exempt projects must submit supporting papers or written information on their letterhead advising us of the project’s tax free status when placing each order. (Credit App & Tax Exemption paperwork are located in the back of this catalog.)

TERMS

Terms are net cash. For accounts with established credit in good standing, we offer an early pay discount of 2% for payments received within 10 days of invoice date. The discount will be displayed on our invoice in red, and is calculated on the material total before taxes, freight and miscellaneous charges. Otherwise, balances are due net 30 days. Wholesale catalog prices are only available to landscape contractors and dealers with nursery I.D.# or tax I.D.#. For your convenience, we also accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover Card, but we do not offer the 2% discount for credit card payments.

PRICING

All catalog prices are F.O.B. Virgil, IL. Prices are subject to change without notice. Prices at time of shipment will prevail. For current quotation, please call our sales office.

DELIVERIES

Delivery can be arranged by our own trucks, common carrier, FED EX or by contract trucker. Delivery and packing charged at cost. Special pricing programs are available for volume customers. Please contact our sales staff for complete information.

DELIVERY CANCELLATION POLICY

Midwest Trading contracts the majority of its freight deliveries out to private carriers. Our shipping department works very hard to get the most competitive rates as well as competent companies to ensure timely deliveries. It is difficult as well as costly to change delivery schedules once they have been set. Therefore, it is very important that proper advance notice is given of any cancellation of scheduled deliveries. Our cancellation policy is as follows: 1. Scheduled loads need to be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to their set time or they become subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee, providing the truck has not been dispatched. 2. Any load cancelled while a truck is in route to MT or on site for loading will be charged $100.00 fee. 3. Any load cancelled while the truck is in route to the delivery site and is forced to return to the yard will be billed at $90.00 per hour. 4. There will be an additional charge for manpower or equipment required to unload a truck. 5. If the truck is at the delivery site and the load is refused by the customer, the load will be billed out at the full freight rate quoted plus any unloading charges. This policy will help us to better serve our customers and keep freight cost as low as possible. Thank you for your co-operation!

RETURNS

Claims pertaining to shortages, incorrect or damaged material MUST BE submitted WITHIN 7 DAYS. After 7 days, we assume no responsibility. Stocked items may be returned within 30 days only if they are in the same condition as when purchased or delivered. A 15% restocking fee will be charged on all returns unless merchandise is defective or shipped in error. Full credits are given only to remedy an error on our part. Items which are special ordered or made to customer specifications MAY NOT be returned. NO RETURNS ON CUSTOM MIXES.

PM35 Planter Mix Aged pine bark fines, topsoil, compost and sand. Used to grow woody ornamentals, conifers, annuals, perennials, ground covers and vegetables. CM66 Light Weight Peat-Based Media with Perlite Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, compost and sand. Used to grow annuals, houseplants, vegetables and herbs in containers. Professional Growth Media When deciding on a growth media for your situation, please remember that many variables may affect the performance of a mix and therefore, your crops. The method of irrigation, pot size and shape, potting procedures, crop, crop time, and other variables play a part in deciding which mix is best suited for your needs. We will be happy to work with you to determine the best possible mix for your application.

At Midwest Trading, we take the quality of our products very seriously. Our full-time Quality Control Team performs and monitors a regular battery of tests and works with independent labs and experts around the country to help ensure that we provide the best finished product to our customers. We stay current with research and are constantly striving to improve our processes and procedures, so that we may better serve your needs.

Mixes are produced at our state of the art soil blending facility which is fully automated, heavy duty, and capable of producing media at rates of up to 300 cubic yards per hour. Our equipment has the ability to produce a wide variety of custom blends with a very high level of precision.

Additionally, raw materials are processed and managed under stringent quality control guidelines. It is our goal to reduce the variability of the complex array of natural products used in the production of growth media. We worry about it so you don’t have to!

COMPOST (Bulk)

Mushroom Compost

(spent mushroom substrate) This high quality compost is a combination of composted straw, horse manure and supplemental nutrients. While originally designed to meet the stringent nutritional and structural media requirements for mushroom growers, this formulation is excellent for soil amendment use in the landscape. The high nutrient values are excellent for inducing plant growth and health, while the structural characteristics are ideal for loosening and improving the heavy soils prevalent in the Chicago area. The availability of soluble nitrogen in Mushroom Compost is relatively low, which means no burn, but total nitrogen is present in such a form that it will be released as further decomposition takes place. Phosphate, potassium, calcium and magnesium are quite high. Salinity is well below that of typical manure. The micro-element content is good for copper, high for zinc, manganese and iron, and slightly low for boron. Organic content is approximately 45% by weight. The particle size is quite favorable for improvement of soils physical properties. As a soil amendment when Mushroom Compost is employed in pre-plant bed preparation, it should not be necessary to apply any further fertilizer or amendments providing applied quantity is 5-10 cubic yards per 1,000 square feet (approximately 2-4 inches). Thorough mixing to a depth of 6” should be done. The compost should not be used as a growing medium, but as an amendment for the improvement of existing low fertile soil. Addition rates should not exceed 20% by volume.

Benefits of Mushroom Compost:

• New plants will establish faster and grow more vigorously. • The structural characteristics of Mushroom Compost are ideal for loosening and improving heavy soils. • The particle size is quite favorable for improvement of soils physical properties. • As an amendment, Mushroom Compost also supplies needed nutrients in a form particularly suited to most ground covers. • When used as a mulch, it will upgrade the soil condition and provide nutritional benefits to existing beds. • Mushroom compost can be used for seeding grass and sodding, giving the seed/sod a quick start for a faster established lawn.

Tournesol VGM Modular Living Wall System The Tournesol VGM system is a recycled plastic planting module attached to powder-coated hanging rails. Once grown in it provides instant, complete coverage of any vertical surface. A wide, controllable variety of plant designs can be used in any horticultural condition. Designed to last the life of the building, VGM is backed by Tournesol’s 30 years of experience. Each planting module has a generous 4” or 8” soil profile. Because root growth isn’t limited to small cells or baffles, plants grow healthier and stronger, which means lower maintenance yet more spectacular plants. Modules are shipped broken down to the job site, then assembled, filled and planted by local contractors. Grow-in typically takes 1-3 months prior to hanging. The rails require minimal penetrations, and will be installed independent of the modules. They mount on any type of structurally sound wall, including building facades, screen walls, or walkways. Modules are hung quickly and easily, with no screws or special mounting hardware. They may be removed just as easily for design changes or maintenance. End-mount rails have one set of holes, and may be reversed at either end of the wall so that there is no hang over. The center mount rails have two sets of holes on either side of the mounting channel. The U-shaped support frameset can be easily slid on the module, even with full-grown plants in place. Bolts through the frameset attach to studs, which hang from the rail.
