Summer fun is back after a year of canceled concerts, festivals, and events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since we missed an entire summer, we all deserve to experience the highlights of a Clarksville summer in 2021.

From concerts and family activities to outdoorsyevents and nature activities there is plenty to do in and around Clarksville and Middle Tennessee. Some are exciting events while others are more peaceful pursuits that will help you escape and unplug for the day. Whether you are taking a week-long holistay or only have a free weekend, we've rounded up a Summer Bucket List packed full of suggestions help you wring every drop of fun out of 2021.

CANOE OR KAYAK THE RED RIVER This is one of Tennessee's best kept paddling secrets where you can enjoy a beautiful, relaxing float with a few gentle rapids. Unlike many other rivers, there are no crowds, and you never have to carry your boat. This is our most popular option for beginners, families, and groups.

GEAR UP AND RIDE THE NORTH FORD STREET MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL The trail is 2.9 miles point to point. This trail is hidden in the middle of Clarksville. The official trailhead parking is located off the N Ford Street and is open dawn to dusk. Don’t have a bike? Rent one from Clarksville Bcycle (clarksville.bcycle.com) and return it when you are finished. SHOP FOR FRESH AND LOCAL FOOD & GOODS AT THE CLARKSVILLE DOWNTOWN MARKET This award winning, weekly open-air market features local farmers and artisans who offer locally grown fresh produce, food items, and handcrafted products. The Market strives to provide an opportunity for local customers to connect with local businesses while enhancing the quality of life in our community. Challenge yourself to find the freshest ingredients and make a meal using only what you picked up that day. Also, enjoy live music while exploring the booths on select market days. ATTEND AN OUTDOOR CONCERT Summer is not complete without time outdoors underneath a sun-filled or moonlit sky. Pause your Spotify, take out your headphones, and listen to your music live this season. The Friday Night Live concert series is back at Old Glory Distillery. This family friendly event will be filled with Food Trucks, Craft Cocktails, Beer, Yard Games, and Great Music! $5 Admission for Adults FREE for Kids

Nashvegas All Stars at Downtown @ Sundown at the Downtown Commons. Join us on July 2nd to hear the Nashvegas All Stars live! The Downtown @ Sundown Concert Series will be

a refreshing walk around the short loop. Ground yourself through appreciation of the natural world while learning about the special relationship shared between the ancient Mississippians and Dunbar Cave. Meet outside of the visitor’s center, and don’t forget to wear sturdy footwear, sunscreen, and bug-spray so that your walk may be peaceful and pleasant. A water bottle is encouraged, as is a cloth mask. This is a free program. Consider choosing one of the donation options to help us continue to meet our mission. Each event will offer a night of free music and entertainment. Beer and other beverages will be for sale with proceeds benefiting our featured non-profit, United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region. A variety of independent food trucks will line up on Main Street. Chairs and blankets are welcome; however, pets, coolers, smoking/vaping or outside alcohol will not be allowed on site.

TAKE A HIKE The Clarksville Greenway features 9 miles of walking trails with views of the river complete with a bike sharing program to navigate the trail or enjoy on the downtown Riverwalk. 30 minutes South is an outdoor retreat perfect for a single day getaway.

CHASE WATERFALLS

Tennessee has over 325 waterfalls, making it tough to choose which one to visit first. When you combine the number of waterfalls that drop over 200 feet with pools below, they become even more amazing. Several of the waterfalls are near Nashville or within a few hours drive. Hikers can find short routes or more arduous paths, depending on their skills and desires.

WATCH A MOVIE UNDER THE STARS All Summer long enjoy a free movie on the big screen! Bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs and come hungry as we will have food available for purchase from food vendors on-site. Please leave pets and alcohol at home. Movies begin at sunset with pre-show activities and performances beginning about one hour before showtime.

Location and Parking: Movies at Heritage Park are located on the soccer fields. Parking is available next to the soccer fields. Movies at Liberty Park are located on the Liberty Park Athletic Fields (next to Liberty Park Playground). Parking is available near the playground.

Movies begin at sunset. You’re welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs, and blankets. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. Please leave your pets at home. No animals, except for certified service animals, are allowed. Please refrain from smoking within the viewing area. Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville Police Department will absolutely NOT tolerate groups disturbing the movie. Please find a seat and be respectful of your neighbors’ movie-watching experience. If you are there to socialize and not watch the movie, please do so outside of the viewing area.

All minors (under the age of 18) MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No exceptions. Bring your bug spray, picnic, family, and friends, and have a good time!
