Clarksville Parks and Recreation hosts many outdoor recreational programs in the parks, and is home to three recreation centers (BurtCobb, Crow and Kleeman). These programs and facilities provide residents with fun experiences at affordable prices. Each recreation center features a full-size gymnasium, fitness center with cardiovascular and strength training equipment, game room, and a meeting space that is available for reservations. NEW! CHICAGO-STYLE DANCE STEPPING

Tuesdays, May 12 - June 30, 6PM - 8PM at Kleeman Ages 21 and up, $30 per session This program is a two-hour introductory stepping class. Participants will be taught simple dance steps and then will put them together to create a complete Chicago-style routine. Participants are encouraged to bring water with them to the class. Pre-register by May 3.

ART OF HULA

Tuesdays, 5PM - 5:50PM & 6PM - 6:50PM at Crow Ages 6 and up, $25 beginner/$20 advanced/intermediate Students will be taught the art of Hawaiian hula dancing combined with songs, chants and techniques. Epic Hip-Hop is a class of movin’ and groovin’ to the latest funky beats! Basic body movements and different dance moves will be taught, and participants will gain skills and improve their confidence in dancing, while. This program occurs during the afterschool program.

PICKLEBALL BLAST

Tuesdays/Thursdays, TBD, 10AM-12PM Saturdays, TBD, 9AM - 12PM at Crow Ages 16 and up, free admission with rec center membership We provide a structured setting for patrons to play pickleball. It is similar to badminton and tennis and takes very little instruction.

ZUMBA

Mondays/Wednesdays, June 1 - 29, July 1 - 29, 5PM - 6PM At Burt-Cobb, ages 16 and up, $12 per session Zumba is a mixture of low and high intensity movements, often called exercise in disguise. The music generally associated with Zumba is Latin and World Rhythms. This class is designed to bring people together during a total body workout that combines cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility.

Tuesdays/Thursdays, August 4 - 27 , 10AM - 11AM at Burt-Cobb Ages 50 and up, free admission with rec center membership Sit & Fit is a full-body low-impact workout for people with a limited range of motion & physical limitations. Designed to strengthen and stretch the entire body to improve health, reduce falls, and increase mobility. This upbeat program features a variety of fun movements and music. Participants will use manipulatives while performing seated exercises that focus on core strengthening, muscle retention, and flexibility.

SILVER FITNESS

Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, various times at Burt-Cobb, Crow, Kleeman, ages 50 and up, free admission with rec center membership Seniors are invited to take advantage of our recreation center fitness areas. This includes walking laps around the gym, using the leg press, treadmills, ellipticals, 4-way machines, stationary bikes, and free weights. This is a drop-in program. NEW! BUMBLE-BEE BOOT CAMP

Tuesdays, July 21 - August 11, 11AM - 12:30PM at Crow Ages 3-4, $10 per participant This program is designed to teach those little ones that will be attending Pre-K or Kindergarten the basics so they can be ready for their first day. They will become familiar with their shapes, colors, the alphabet, numbers, and simple spelling words. Pre-register by July 14.

PARENT & TOT GYMNASTICS

Tuesdays, June 2 - 30, 5:45PM - 6:30PM at American Twisters Ages 1-3, $50 for parent & child This program is held at the American Twisters Tumbling facility. Children and parents participate together in a variety of activities designed to work on fine and gross motor skills. Children practice listening and following directions. They also participate in group play to learn how to play with others. Pre-register by June 1.

GARDENING 101

Saturday, June 13, 10AM - 12PM at Kleeman Ages 6 and up, $25 per participant Come and learn about the basics of having your own garden. Each gardening 101 class will cover several gardening tips and techniques! Pre-register by June 12.

CANOE & KAYAK FLOAT

Saturday, May 23 & August 8, 8AM - 10AM at Liberty Park All ages, free admission Enjoy a relaxing float on the Cumberland River from Liberty Park to Trice Landing Park. Participants will need to provide their own canoe/kayak and life jacket. Canoes and kayaks must be dropped off by 7:30 a.m. at Liberty Park. Participants will then drive to Trice Landing Park, where transportation will be provided back to the float site at Liberty Park. Pre-register by May 7.

FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO

Friday, June 12 & July 10, 6PM - 8PM at Crow Ages 50 and up, rec center membership required This is a free event (on two different nights) but in order to participate, you must bring in a non-perishable food item. The food items will then be donated throughout different non-profit organizations in our local community. Door prize items will be awarded to the winners.

KICKIN IT WITH CADS

Saturday, May 16, June 20, July 18, & August 15, 5:30PM - 9:30PM At Crow, all ages, free admission Kickin It With CADS is a dance for individuals with special needs. A DJ and refreshments will be provided. This is offered by CADS (Clarksville Association Down Syndrome). There will be a sensory-friendly room available.

TODDLER STORY TIME

Wednesdays, August 5 - 26 , 10AM - 11AM at Burt-Cobb Ages 1-5, $3 per child, per drop-in class Toddler Story Time provides a multi-sensory experience while engaging your child’s imagination. Each week there will be a beloved children’s story read aloud to the children, followed by an age-appropriate craft and yummy make & take snack related to the story. Dress accordingly, the creative process can be messy.

INDOOR TODDLER PLAYGROUND

Mondays, August 10 - 31, 10AM - 11AM at Burt-Cobb Ages 1-4, $3 per child, per drop-in class This drop-in program held in the gymnasium provides a variety of indoor recreational activities, music, games and unstructured playtime for parents and toddlers. Toddlers will have the opportunity to improve their gross motor skills, make friendships and create memories. Parents must provide active supervision.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

May 1 - August 31, 9:30AM - 10:30AM at multiple locations Alternating Saturdays, 9-10AM, all ages, $7 per class iStroll is the ultimate 60-minute stroller workout created by athletes for parents. It incorporates running, body weight, dumbbells, resistance bands, and a jogging stroller. It is more than a workout class, it is a place to meet other parents with similar interests. Saturday, June 6 - 27, 10AM - 11:30AM at Kleeman Girls, ages 11-14, $12 per participant This program offers an opportunity for athletes of all skill levels to participate in an exciting 4-week basketball clinic. NEW! FOOTBALL CLINIC

Thursday - Friday, August 6 - 8, 5:30PM - 6:45PM & Saturday, 9:30AM - 10:45AM, at Crow, ages 7-12, $30 per participant This three-day clinic is geared to those wanting to approve their skills in football. Each day the participant will learn a new skill while building friendships. They will be learning different positions such as quarterback, running backs, lineman, and defensive backs. Everyone will receive a football and a re-usable water bottle. Pre-register by August 1.

SUMMER PLAYHOUSE AT THE ROXY

Monday - Thursday, June 1 - July 9 at The Roxy, Ages 9-12, 12:30PM - 2PM & Ages 13-18, 2 -3:30PM, $50 per participant The Roxy Regional Theatre will host a summer drama camp co-sponsored by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. Children ages 9 to 18 will learn basic acting techniques, improvisational skills and stage movement, culminating in a free showcase for family and friends on the final day of the program.

SUMMER ARCHERY CAMP

Weekdays, June 22 - 26, 9AM - 1PM at Billy Dunlop Park Ages 10-15, $20 per participant This camp teaches youth the fundamentals of archery. Participants will learn shooting techniques, safety rules, and different bow types. Pre-register by June 19. Beginner Archery: 9AM - 11AM & Advanced Archery: 11AM - 1PM.

SUMMER TUMBLING CAMP

Monday - Thursday, June 22 - 25, July 6 - 9, & July 13 - 16, 9AM - 11:30AM At American Twisters, ages 4-18, $40 per week Summer Tumbling Camp participants will be taught tumbling, jumps, cheers, and dance. It will also include a trampoline lesson focusing on safety, awareness, and building skills. Pre-register by June 19.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM Mondays-Fridays, June 1 - July 10, 9AM - 3PM at multiple locations, ages 6-8, 9-12, 13-15, free admission

The annual Summer Youth Program is a fun and rewarding summer camp experience offered to children ages 6-15 years old. This program runs six-weeks from June 1 - July 10 at fifteen different locations around Clarksville that utilize school gymnasiums, city recreation centers, and Housing Authority sites. Each site is designated for a specific age group and offers daily age-appropriate games, sports activities, arts and crafts, visits to city pools, and other enrichment activities.

WEEKLY REGISTRATION

In an effort to serve as many children as possible, we are continuing with the weekly registration policy this year. Please do not sign your child, or children, up to attend weeks that you are not confident they will be attending. This takes away spots from others!
