INTERPRETER The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Puerto Rico has jurisdiction and responsibility in a broad range of areas, all of which involve representing the legal interests of the Federal government in the United States District Courts. We are currently seeking to hire an Interpreter who will be assigned to the Criminal Division, located in San Juan, PR. The Interpreter will provide Spanish/English and English/Spanish interpretation as needed in criminal and civil matters including all aspects of court proceeding, including trials for U.S. Attorney witnesses, telephonic interpreting, material witness interviews. Required Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience involving expert translations and interpretations from live, recorded and written material without regard to the level of difficulty, subject matter, terminology, dialogue, etc. Examples of specialized experience include: interpreting attorneys, defendants, and/or witnesses; preparing Spanish-speaking witnesses for trials; preparing certified transcription/translations and translations of court documents, law enforcement reports; testifying in federal court when challenges are presented to the certified transcription or translation presented as evidence and providing sight translation to attorneys, in criminal and civil matters.
