Situada en la cima de una ladera, dentro de una de las urbanizaciones más consolidadas de Valencia, Casa de la
Cantera nace de las condiciones extremas del terreno con la voluntad de escalar la pendiente para ganar vistas al paisaje. El esquema de la casa consta de una superposición de cajas abrazadas por el propio terreno. La casa queda enclavada en la montaña mediante un vacío que la independiza de su entorno inmediato generando un universo propio que recoge al que lo habita. La parte inferior de la casa queda agazapada e integrada en el terreno mientras que la parte superior se abre a dos paisajes contrapuestos: por un lado, las vistas se dirigen hacia el mar buscando una conexión con el horizonte con el filtro intermedio de la piscina; y por otro hacia el monte mediterráneo. En la parte superior, definida como un espacio fluido, convergen las zonas de día. La terraza y la piscina han sido a la vez concebidas como una prolongación de la planta y una conexión con el paisaje.

ocated on the top of a hillside, in one of the most established housing states of Valencia, the House of the Quarry is based on the extreme conditions of the ground with the aim of climbing the slope to get views to the landscape. The layout of the house consists in a set of overlapping boxes surrounded by the ground itself. The house settles in the mountain using an empty space that isolates it from its direct surroundings, thus creating a universe of its own that hosts its inhabitants. The lower part of the house hunkers down to get integrated in the ground while the upper part opens to two opposite sights: on one side, the views to the sea looking to the horizon filtered by the swimming pool; on the other side, the views of the Mediterranean forest. The upper part, designed as a fluid space, contains all the day areas. The terrace and the pool have been designed as an extension of the interior that connects the house with the landscape.

La piscina es un prisma que se extiende en las alturas volando sobre las habitaciones y el gimnasio. La idea de apertura queda reforzada mediante una fachada frontal acristalada, sin ningún tipo de apoyo intermedio, que enmarca una vista panorámica hacia el mar. Al abrir las visuales al frente y apoyar únicamente en los planos laterales se obtiene una sensación de ligereza y transparencia que hace de Casa de la Cantera un lugar sereno, conectado con el horizonte.

The swimming pool is a prism that extends at heights overhanging the bedrooms and the gym. The openness of the house is reinforced by a glass front façade without uprights that frames the panoramic view of the sea. By opening the views to the front and resting only on the sides, the House of the Quarry achieves a feeling of lightness and transparency, thus becoming a quiet place and linking with the horizon.
La apariencia masiva y estructural de la vivienda es una proyección de la expresividad de los materiales en bruto. El enjambre de hormigón blanco ejecutado in situ queda atravesado por un núcleo central de ónix amarillo retroiluminado que cose verticalmente toda la vivienda mediante unas escaleras del mismo material. Los peldaños volados se expresan como grandes tablas macizas de ónix que emiten luz por todas su caras. Este efecto se produce gracias a un nuevo diseño patentado para su estructura interna.
The expressivity of the raw materials shows the house as pure structure and mass. A hive of in situ white concrete is pierced by a central staircase of backlit yellow onyx Neve D’or that sew the house from top to bottom with its onyx steps. The overhang steps are expressed as large solid onyx boards that emit light all over their faces, this effect is produced due to a new patented design for its internal structure.

Los grandes formatos retroiluminados de piedra natural confieren a la vivienda el carácter tectónico que la conecta, metafóricamente, con las entrañas de la tierra. Las impresionantes piezas de ónix vulcano adquieren un carácter casi escultural participando en las estancias de noche como un lienzo sobre el que admirar las cualidades plásticas de la piedra natural.

The large backlit natural stone slabs give the house a tectonic character metaphorically linking to the inner depths of the earth. These pieces of volcanic onyx almost become sculptures, providing the bedrooms with a canvass to admire the aesthetic qualities of the natural stone.

Más de dos años después desde la pasada edición, finaliza la 8ª edición de Montgorock bajo el lema “2021, Volvemos más Fuertes”, a pesar de las dificultades de este año por motivos del Covid y en la última semana por las previsiones de lluvia por la Dana que amenazaba su realización hasta el último día.

A pesar de las mascarillas y de las medidas de prevención, se respiraba la emoción del público Montrocker que llevaba largos meses esperando este reencuentro con algunos de sus artistas favoritos como Depedro, Ariel Rot, los Zigarros o Sexy Zebras. Estos últimos emocionados especialmente, ya que llevaban 2 años sin tocar en directo, por lo que su cantante agradeció en el escenario a la organización la valentía de querer celebrar el festival a pesar de los tiempos difíciles, y así seguir promoviendo la música y la cultura.
Despite the masks and preventive measures, the Montrocker public was excited, who had been waiting for many months for this reunion with some of their favorite artists such as Depedro, Ariel Rot, Los Zigarros or Sexy Zebras. Este año se ha estrenado la participación de varios paratriatletas, y se ha podido vivir en directo el deporte adaptado. Un evento complicado de organizar, sobretodo con el añadido extra de la pandemia, pero que gracias a los organizadores, voluntarios, Protección Civil, Cruz Roja, la Concejalía de deportes y Policía local se pudo llevar a cabo sin incidentes y disfrutar así de un día de deporte en un lugar tan maravilloso como Jávea.

LA ESCUELA INTERNACIONAL WALDORF EL MONTGÓ SE CONSOLIDA COMO ÚNICA ESCUELA DE PEDAGOGÍA ALTERNATIVA HOMOLOGADA EN LA MARINA ALTA. THE MONTGO WALDORF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IS CONSOLIDATED AS THE ONLY APPROVED ALTERNATIVE PEDAGOGY SCHOOL IN THE MARINA ALTA.
Esta escuela asentada en Jávea desde 2017, dio sus primeros pasos como escuela de infantil para más tarde incorporar también la etapa de primaria. Fue ahí cuando comenzaron sus primeros pasos para poder homologar sus enseñanzas.

En agosto de 2020 la escuela consiguió la certificación de Escuela internacional otorgada por el organismo The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), cumpliendo con todos los estándares de calidad que este organismo exige. En agosto de este año ha conseguido finalmente la autorización por parte de Consellería convirtiéndose así, en la única escuela en la Marina Alta de infantil y primaria con pedagogía alternativa homologada por la Generalitat. La pedagogía Waldorf nació en Alemania hace ya más de 100 años y junto con el método Montessori, es una de las pedagogías alternativas más populares a nivel mundial, habiendo más de 1000 escuelas por todo el mundo. Las escuelas Waldorf siguen el currículum que se establece en cada país, la diferencia radica en el método de enseñanza. En las instalaciones de este centro todos los materiales están creados a partir de elementos naturales. Cuenta con unos 2500 m2 de patios al aire libre rodeados de pinos, areneros, cabañas de madera, un rocodromo, un huerto... Actualmente cuenta con unos 380 m2 de construcción para infantil y primaria pero está en proyecto ampliar instalaciones para acoger también el grado de secundaria. En las aulas de infantil los juguetes de lana y fieltro están fabricados por las maestras. En primaria los libros de texto los escriben los propios niños a partir de los conocimientos que van adquiriendo en clase. La música, el arte y los valores no pueden faltar nunca en una escuela con esta pedagogía. Son muchos los padres que buscan educar a sus hijos en escuelas que respeten el ritmo de cada niño, fomenten la autoestima, la autonomía y la creatividad. Y algunas familias están hasta dispuestas a trasladar su lugar de residencia para que esto ocurra. Es el caso de esta escuela, donde muchas de las familias con las que cuenta han ido llegando a Jávea desde otros lugares del mundo. 50

In August of this year, it finally obtained authorization from the Ministry, thus becoming the only school in the Marina Alta for infant and primary school with alternative pedagogy approved by the Generalitat. Waldorf pedagogy was born in Germany more than 100 years ago and together with the Montessori method, it is one of the most popular alternative pedagogies worldwide, with more than 1000 schools around the world. Waldorf schools follow the curriculum that is established in each country, the difference lies in the teaching method. In the facilities of this center all the materials are created from natural elements. It has about 2500 m2 of outdoor patios surrounded by pine trees, sandboxes, wooden cabins, a climbing wall, an orchard ... It currently has about 380 m2 of construction for kindergarten and primary school but there is a project to expand facilities to also accommodate the secondary level. In children’s classrooms, wool and felt toys are made by the teachers. In primary school, textbooks are written by the children themselves based on the knowledge they acquire in class. Music, art and values c an never be absent in a school with this pedagogy. Many parents seek to educate their children in schools that respect the rhythm of each child, promote self-esteem, autonomy and creativity. And some families are even willing to move their place of residence for this to happen. This is the case of this school, where many of the families it has have been coming to Jávea from other parts of the world.

La edición 60+1 del Concurs Internacional de Paella Valenciana de Sueca ha sido especial tras su suspensión el año pasado por primera vez en su larga historia a causa de la pandemia. La Concejalía responsable del certamen gastronómico más antiguo de cuantos se celebran en España, ha ultimado todos los detalles para que el domingo 12, y bajo las medidas establecidas por las autoridades sanitarias, el evento haya sido de nuevo todo un éxito. El decano concurso goza del reconocimiento mundial del sector, no sólo por ser el más antiguo de cuantos se celebran, sino porque, además, en cada edición aumenta la demanda de participantes. Para Manoli Egea, concejal responsable del certamen “se trata de un evento de grandísima repercusión al que acuden participantes de diferentes lugares del mundo. Esta edición ha sido muy especial, no sólo por el carácter simbólico del aniversario, sino también por la complejidad a la hora de trabajar con un cierto grado de incertidumbre siempre presente. Se han ultimado todos los detalles de una edición que ha presentado novedades, como la exposición que durante toda la semana se ha podido disfrutar en la sala Els Porxets y que recoge, con documentación y fotografías, los 60 años de vida de la ‘Fiesta del Arroz de Sueca’, adquiriendo un gran protagonismo el Concurs Internacional de Paella Valenciana de Sueca”. 52

The 60 + 1 edition of Sueca’s International Paella Valenciana Contest has been special after its suspension last year for the first time in its long history due to the pandemic. Otra de las novedades introducidas este año, ha sido la confección de un libro conmemorativo por la efeméride tan importante que se celebra, en el que tendrán cabida todas las ediciones. Así mismo, como ya ocurrió en 2019 por primera vez, este año el Ayuntamiento ha procedido de nuevo al sorteo de 16 invitaciones a fin de acercar aún más el evento a toda la ciudadanía interesada en participar con su presencia. Por lo que respecta a los premios otorgados, además de los tres galardones a la mejor paella de la edición, se entregaron un premio a la mejor paella cocinada por un restaurante local, autonómico, nacional e internacional. En la presente edición, han sido invitados a participar los negocios de hostelería y restaurantes de Sueca: Cuina de mare, Fernandet y La Granja. En esta edición, se han entregado nuevamente los reconocimientos de Paelleros de Honor, en esta ocasión a título póstumo, a tres personas que mantuvieron una relación especial con el certamen: Francisco Segarra, alcalde de Sueca en 1961 y promotor del Concurs Internacional de Paella Valenciana de Sueca; Jacinto Perea, jefe de cocina del Hotel Astoria de Valencia y primer ganador del certamen en el año 1961; y la primera mujer ganadora del Concurs, Josefa Clar Beltrán.
