Angels of Epilepsy (www.angelsofepilepsy.org/) supports, advocates, and inspires many around the world living with epilepsy-seizures.
As we pay homage to individuals suffering from epilepsy, depression and sickle cell and highlight community based organizations making a difference in the lives of girls and young women, we will celebrate their hard work and achievements through a series of short musical vignettes and captivating live performances in what is sure to be an extraordinary and memorable event!
ANGELS OF EPILEPSY Angels of Epilepsy (“AOE”) is a foundation and advocacy organization in the Atlanta, Georgia area that supports, advocates, and inspires many around the world living with epilepsy/seizures. Founded by Natalie Y. Beavers, AOE’s mission is to assist and support survivors and their families as they endure the tough times associated with battling this severe medical condition. AOE is dedicated to advocate for the many epilepsy survivors, especially children, who suffer from depression, are victims of bullying and are otherwise segregated because of social stigma. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Natalie was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 5. During her high school years, Natalie and her family thought she had become seizure free, but the seizures reoccurred during her college years. The seizures decreased considerably after hospitalizations and surgeries, but because of an inoperable cyst that remains on her brain, she still has periodic seizures. She also lives with short-term memory loss and weakness. Empathy for other epileptics and her own life experiences as a survivor of the disease encouraged Natalie to launch the Angels of Epilepsy Foundation in 2008. One such life experience led Natalie to endorse a new law which would assist in ensuring safety in the lives of epileptics. Some years ago, she was involved in a tragic car accident when she suffered a seizure while driving. Natalie and AOE are lobbying in Congress to pass a law to revoke the driver’s licenses of epilepsy patients when it is determined by a doctor that their impairment precludes them from safe driving. Under the proposed “Sandra Beckett Law,” epilepsy patients would have to be seizure free for a prescribed period of time before they are allowed to drive again. AOE also loves to bring smiles to the faces of those battling with epilepsy and other disabilities. They collect donations of toys, books for children and adults, games, scarves, socks, and so many other necessities to go into gift baskets to be distributed to patients in hospitals near and far. AOE will continue to spread awareness to the plight of those suffering from epilepsy as statistics show that the number of those stricken by the disease has recently increased. AOE is passionate about this cause, and seeks celebrities, dignitaries, political figures and many others to join AOE’s campaign #EpilepsyLivesMatter.
MY THREE SICKLERS Sickle cell disease affects people of many racial and ethnic groups. In the United States alone, 90,000 to 100,000 people, mainly Blacks or African Americans, have sickle cell. The disease occurs in approximately one of every 500 Black or African-American births and in approximately one of every 36,000 Hispanic-American births. My Three Sicklers (“MTS”) Sickle Cell Foundation was founded by Mapillar Dahn, the mother of three beautiful daughters who are each affected by the sickle cell disease. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, MTS is committed to helping sickle cell patients and their families get through the long and arduous journey of life with sickle cell disease. Since its inception, MTS has delivered moral and financial support to sickle cell patients and their families. In addition, MTS endeavors to increase the public’s awareness of sickle cell anemia by supporting research and educational activities and providing information to the public on how to assist and support those affected. The organization provides support to families by sponsoring meetings, events, and workshops to teach those affected how to live well with the disease. MTS has garnered widespread recognition and awards from numerous institutions, locally, regionally, and internationally, in helping sickle cell patients and creating awareness about the disease. Among others, MTS initiatives include: MTS Birthday Club and Birthday for a Cause - people from around the globe “donate” their birthdays online and raise funds to purchase birthday gifts for children living with sickle cell in the United States. Summer Camp Scholarship - MTS raises funds for scholarships to Camp New Hope, a week-long camp organized by the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, for children battling with sickle cell disease. Annual Kickball Tournament - MTS recently held their 2nd Annual Kickball Tournament and proceeds from the event will benefit MTS to aid in its continuing quest to bring awareness to the Sickle Cell Disease.
A look back On the occasion of our Fourth Annual Red Dress Gala, Classy Living Society would like to turn a reminiscent eye back to our previous three Galas and revisit the extraordinary causes and organizations we have honored and are greatly passionate about.
1 The First
Annual Red Dress Gala
was held on June 22, 2014 at the Twelve Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta. The purpose of the inaugural gala was to introduce CLS as a premier women’s community service organization, a hands-on community partner, and a host organization of fundraisers for local charities in Georgia. “Celebrating the Cause” was the mantra of the day as CLS honored Cheerful Givers, a 501(c) (3) organization committed to providing birthday gift bags to children in need through shelters and food pantries. Gala attendees were asked to bring a love offering of red bags filled with toys for young children and this collection was presented to Cheerful Givers to further their cause.
2The Second
Annual Red Dress Gala
was a magical affair held in November, 2015 in the Grand Ballroom of the Le Méridien Hotel in Dunwoody, Georgia. Distinctive honor was given to Jennifer Ann’s Group, a non-profit organization founded by Mr. Drew Crecente. The organization, formed in memory of Mr. Crecente’s daughter, Jennifer Ann, aspires to prevent teen dating violence through awareness, education and advocacy. Gala attendees were moved and inspired by speeches by Kimya Motley, founder of Haven of Light International and Ms. Nikki Payne. Both of these courageous woman spoke about their experiences as domestic violence survivors and their continuing fight against it.
3The Third
Annual Red Dress Gala led the classy ladies dressed in red back to the location of the first Gala -the fabulous Twelve Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta in November 2016. Classy Living Society paid homage to human and sex trafficing survivors and emphasized the accomplishments of community-based organizations making a difference in the lives of girls and young women such as: 4Sarah - a faith-based nonprofit organization founded by Kasey McClure. 4Sarah’s mission is to empower change in the life direction of women and girls who are adult entertainers, prostitutes, escorts, porn stars, or victims of sex trafficking by providing educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual support. Love Rolls, Inc. - founded by then 15-year-old Kendall Robinson, Love Rolls collects toilet paper for distribution to the homeless through local agencies in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Recognized by state and local officials and most importantly, President Barack Obama, Love Rolls supplies toilet rolls to those in need with LOVE. Girls, Inc. - with Anno Hardage at the helm as CEO, Girls, Inc. provides life skills and inspires girls to be strong, smart and bold through mentoring and research based hands on programs.
Educated Girls Rock! - founded by Nisha Glenn, works in close partnership with educators and technology providers to constantly improve the quality and relevance of girls and young women in education. Pink S.T.E.M. - founded by Tamika Ray, bridges the gap and helps girls and minorities by increasing their awareness and interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
Classy Living Society’s Annual Red Dress Gala embodies the spirit of the organization’s zest for giving back, inspiring, socializing, mobilizing and encouraging like-minded women to be someone greater than themselves! It is a welcome opportunity to shine the light on those organizations and causes we find worthwhile. It is also an aweinspiring privilege to partner with these organizations in our quest to change the world - one step at a time!
“As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” Marianne Williamson

Marsy’s Law for Georgia www.marsyslaw.us Ann Casas 678-469-1583 ann@marsyslaw.com
Currently in the United States, the U.S. Constitution and every state constitution has enumerated rights for individuals accused of a crime and those convicted of a crime. Yet, the U.S. Constitution and 15 state constitutions do not extend enumerated rights to victims of crime. Marsy’s Law for All seeks to amend state constitutions that don’t offer protections to crime victims and, eventually, the U.S. Constitution to give victims of crime rights equal to those already afforded to the accused and convicted. We can all agree that no rapist should have more rights than the victim. No murderer should be afforded more rights than the victim’s family. Marsy’s Law would ensure that victims have the same co-equal rights as the accused and convicted – nothing more, nothing less. Marsy’s Law is not a partisan issue. Giving crime victims equal rights is a rare political issue that Republicans and Democrats are unified in supporting.

Lady Q LaQuitcha Lanay Washington, a native of Charleston, SC, has been making people laugh all her life. She was raised in a Christian home, and was taught the foundational doctrines of the Pentecostal Belief. The Bible tells us to train a child in the way they shall go, and when they are old they will not depart from it. Well, the teachings LaQuitcha received were definitely not in vain. After years of running from her true call, she accepted the fact that God had both a purpose and a plan for her life that would glorify Him. Lady Q answered “the call” and emerged as a true performer after accepting an invitation to perform a “One Woman Show” in 2008. The show included her first renowned character, Ma’Bell. Lady Q is now regarded as one of the most sought-after clean comedians today. Since that time, Lady Q has been awarded the 2014 Season 4 Prazye Factor People’s Choice Awards for Best Christian Comedian! Lady Q has opened up for Comedians such as, Rodney Perry, Marcus D.
