A prototype built in a 48-hours-workshop. My aim was to use the whole 2mm thick plywood panel we had offered avoiding to cut in pieces but exploit its manegeability. The result is a simple design of a chair, where the bended elements are trying to give a sense of softness usually impossibile to be reached by such a still material. The cutted parts are re-assembled with a strong white rope weave, that is also giving a character to the clean line of the furniture itself.

During my time at MAC Milano Architettura Contemporanea I had the chance to work on ongoing project at different design stages. With this private apartment it was offered to me to set a range of proposal that could meet the needs of the client. Some changes in the plan were needed to reach a higher level of livability of the spaces.

The bond that join a space to the person who occupies it defines the place itself and the experience that it has as a private setting. Space and occupant constitute a natural unit that would loose value when he is absent. Our homes consist of hierarchical spaces separated by solid walls; each function requires its level of privacy and the penetration of them takes place through the transit through mobile diaphragms, the doors. A fall of the barriers between the different environments and the consequent production of a "semi-determined space", with a variety of functions within the same room, produces a dilated and flowing habitat in which emptiness prevails over the full in the search for permeability and transparency . The absence of solid parts guarantees the presence of free spaces to use, occupy, enjoy, etc. in the ways considered most functional to the objectives to be achieved, or simply to leave as they are, not occupied, since they could to show the maximum usefulness or usability. In a cohabitation the room is the place associated with intimacy and rest. It is therefore the context in which the link between a place and its owner is more explicitly established. The other activities are associated with a lower level of privacy (eating, recreating ..) and are considered as common activities to be carried out in communion with the other inhabitants in that "dis-occupied" space from the rooms, a sort of jagged circuit. Thus a fluid space is created in which a variety of situations and activities dominate, capable of translating the different expressions of life into a "moving house".

T R A NSP OR T HU B - A MA Z O N M ad ri d | Plaza de Colòn
Plaza de Castilla is a large square located north of the city of Madrid. The area is strongly characterized by two of the tallest structures in Madrid, which are its main attraction: the pair of buildings called Puerta de Europa, more than 100 meters and almost 30 floors, also known colloquially as Torres Kío. The square is a hub of communications for its metro station (crossing three lines), the intercity bus, and its proximity to the Chamartín station, from where Cercanías Renfe trains depart and long-haul. The project is based on the concept of division of spaces, based on functions and uses. Keeping in mind the limits of the underground (metro station and car tunnel), the first step was to carve a space that could connect the ground level with the exit of the metro. This space was then divided into different floors at different heights, forming a dense and polyvalent space. At the ground floor, the main feature is the means of transport: buses, trucks, bike sharing and car sharing. Everything is covered by a structure that seems to float like a cloud: the warehouse. Inside we can find an efficient circular division between a long and a short stay. The columns that support it have different functions, from vertical connections for people to connections between different floors for objects. Finally, the roof represents the poetry of the project with its park and the drones landing.

U R B A N GR A F TI N G H O S TE L M i lan | Porta Genova
The plan of reconversion of the former MIlanese railway stations was set by the minucipality and it has been debating for long time in the recent years. The hub of Porta Genova is, with its 6600 sqm of extention, the protagonist of this intervention. The program is offering two typologies: a hostel and a multifunctional space. All the masses are pushed at the end of the site: a tall body - tower - and a lower one, to give the chance to develop a long park in between the station and the architectural volumes proposed. The idea of continuity and of non-interruction with them can be understood in the proposed ground level, where a big cut is present in the tower and the shape of the multipurpose building is leading to the end of the plot.

Via Ventimiglia is a little closed street facing a building with commercial activities on the ground floor. I imagine to incorporate that street in oursite to create a more public paved square that provides a big overlooking for the multipurpose building.
The main crossing between Via Tortona on the left and the square of Porta Genova (station) is solved with a mixture of a shrub vegetation and paved paths. That proivides a more fast and direct connection.

D IS + C O N N E C TI O N La Riposa | Piedmont
The project DIS+CONNECTION is the result of a teamwork which investigates the topic of public space in the Susa Valley (Piedmont), historically known as a crossroad between Italy and France, and now at the centre of a debate on the high-speed railway construction. The city of Susa is expected to become an important international hub thanks to an ever faster and more extensive linear connection network, which will bring it to be reached in ever shorter times. We asked ourselves: why going so fast? We went searching for places where we could slow down the time, discovering numerous military forts distributed throughout the whole territory of the Susa Valley. Impressed by the way these buildings, nowadays almost all abandoned, relate with the territory we went visiting La Riposa, a panoramic hill at 2185 meters, on the south side of the mountain Rocciamelone, we immediately realized how this site could answer to our desire of disconnection still remaining an easily accessible place. Only after having experienced the place, that immediately refers to a feeling of complete connection with nature, we decided to design a spa complex taking advantage of the presence of mineral water in the surroundings. We believe that such a system could meet that need to slow down, to detach us even if only for a short period of time to which we referred earlier. Thermal baths have seemed an interesting theme for us for their double nature: representing since antiquity - from the Roman baths to the oriental and arriving to the most modern Finnish saunas - a place where people can meet, socialize and connect. At the same time they act as spokesmen for unique sensations closely linked to the nature of the body.

Focal point of the approach was the relationship with the territory and at the same time the attempt to establish a dialogue between the visitor and the place itself, putting the emphasis not only on the spa complex but also on the path to reach it. With reference to the retaining walls that have shaped the mountains over the centuries, we have developed an architecture of walls that open visuals through the surrounding landscape. The wall is the regulating element of the internal design. It is evident as a sign of extraction of matter from the mountain, which emerges from the outside as a trace of what is below, signaling the presence of a hypogeum building. The arrival is conquered through an easily walkable route that starts from a lower altitude (outdoor already exhisting parking) and in 15 minutes allows to reach the complex. The visitor is always guided by the presence of the wall that directs the passage and sometimes becomes a punctual element. Devices to take a break for all those who want to live the mountain regardless of who will enjoy the spa. Situated in significant positions from which to admire the landscape: a staircase, a bench, a viewpoint, a backrest and a fountain at the junction with the path that leads to the top of the Rocciamelone.

In the thermal complex walls are shaping the ground, projecting themselves towards the outside like telescopes. They fade becoming thinner, turning into the horizontal element of the equipped panoramic terrace. The use of concrete as main material can be found in the pre-existence scattered in the project area: tanks for the drinking of animals and retaining walls. The ritual of the thermal path is peculiar, solved as a continuum between interior and exterior. The underground entrance, through a large staircase, is a gradual filter between the mountain and the building. The staircase involves the visitor putting him in relationship with the three elements of the project: ground, wall and water. It becomes a sitting and a resting place before entering inside the complex. A storage system allows visitors to leave their sports equipment (such as backpacks, rackets or boots). Lightened the body from all personal effects, begins the real rituality. Starting from the large courtyard at the centre of the project, the visitor is free to explore all the environments. The courtyard, designed not only as a light source but as the core of the building towards which all environments turn without revealing themselves. The use of each environment is marked by the discovery of the same in order to make this experience as engaging as possible for the visitor. As soon as every single passage has passed, the visitor finds himself surprisingly wrapped in an environment that is different in function and orientation.
