LITTERÆRE LANDSKAP the Norwegian Pavilion at the Frankfurt Bookfair 2019
The Norwegian Pavilion 2019 works as an internal landscape and reverses the habitual, by implementing the idea of nature within architecture. Visitors entering the hall are enabled to draw away from the surrounding architecture and will be all enamored by exploring this inner landscape. The pavilion offers a unique experience and space to all visitors, translating Norwegian topoi and the subtle energy of its topography into a powerful installation and public statement. Maybe of all things, nature and the make up of landscape is the foremost shared condition to people in Norway and with that also a common ground / denominator to writers and the culture in general. The whole pavilion acts as an interpretation of these landscapes, mountainous reliefs or fjords that descends towards the sea. It is articulated as a generous sloped platform that hosts both open spaces as well as intimate rooms: a playground of sorts, a place with a strong identity for people to come together, listen, discuss and share and to also find space for themselves and a variety of situations to explore. Orienting with the light, the pavilions curvy levels are stepping down towards the glazed façade, opening up towards the panorama and the large square in front of the building. The platform is creating a space that works in all directions and brings up enough curiosities to be explored in itself. Steps of 30 cm can easily be walked up but are equally ideal for sitting down. The created landscape is a beautiful invitation to interact with it and to explore – a welcoming gesture by Norway hosting friends and visitors to the Book Fair in Frankfurt.

ZDH OFFICES interior design project for the offices of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts
OP EN OFFICE
FOYERS
The project concerns the redesign of the interiors of a historic building located in Berlin in the central district of Mitte which houses the Central Association of German Artisans. It is a building of the 50s where still today you can admire many of the beautiful original details of the era such as floors, lights, ceilings, fixtures, surfaces with pilasters and the existing furniture. During the nineties the interiors have undergone a modest renovation work that has led to a poor quality of the internal environment, with elements of ordinary furniture and a study of the space that leaves much to be desired. To FAKT has been assigned the task of redesigning the interior space of 3 of the 6 foyers of the building and of the big open office located on the top floor. In addition to working on the space and layout of the rooms, we also had the opportunity to present furniture design proposals. The method was to start from the design of the characterizing elements and original furnishings, thus inspiring us to these and making sure to enhance them and respect them. The project in this first phase involved the presentation to the client of various options for the restyling of the foyers and the open office among which they were able to choose.

PA N O R A M I C A SCHOOL IN RICCIONE competition project for a primary school
The idea of the project is to organize the “Panoramica” school as a true sensory experience, a sequence of pavilions and gardens connected to each other, where open and closed spaces, educational gardens and playgrounds, Classrooms and multifunctional spaces are constantly connected to each other. Space is organized through a series of perimeters: a grid of open-air rooms connected to each other and inhabited by a sequence of volumes different from each other, by size and geometry. In an effort to shape Gianfranco Zavalloni’s pedagogical guidelines, the project seeks to overcome the school model as a building: the new primary school does not appear as an isolated element placed in the center of the lot with a perimeter garden. The proposal, in fact, seeks to overcome this condition by structuring the project in an ‘extensive’ manner, seeking to manage and exploit the entire useful surface through a succession of open and closed spaces, full and empty, micro buildings and gardens. The school space becomes a continuous construction, with no distinction between interior and exterior: classrooms like gardens become defined and controlled places, to suit children, where they take on the activities of playing, studying and manual work.

A HOUSE FROM A D R AW I N G O F ETTORE SOTTSASS cabinet of curiosities for the Biennale d’Architecture d’Orléans
Architettura monumentale is a drawing by Ettore Sottsass. It is an axonometric projection showing two sides of a volume standing on a tiled pavement with a grey sky in the background. The challenge of the project was to imagine life within this form: starting from the partially defined outer volume we unveiled the invisible facades and entered into the unexplored interior to finally conquer the building as a whole. The idea was to insert an autonomous element that would inhabit the inside, but leave the vaulted space intact, thus preserving its character. This element is a yellow abstract structure which dominates the light-coloured interior. A grid of columns and beams is placed in the black shell, relating to it both freely and dependently. For the first Biennale in Orléans the project has been built in a reduced version, turning the house into a cabinet of curiosity. Architettura Monumentale became a pavilion, a new exhibition space for the city of Orléans that, after a temporary installation in front of the Mediathéque d’Orléans, will be moved and permanently installed in Parc Floral de La Source. 2A+P/A has curated also the first exhibition host by the pavilion. The series of drawings is a visual essay that exposes our idea of architecture in its intimate form.

THE EX ATA C S A N PA O L O TRAM DEPOT analysis and survey for the knowledge and the transformation of an historical roman building
The relief of the building was aimed at the enhancement of the building; hence the choice of the type of building: a dismantled industrial structure that would be well suited to a re-functionalization. Immersed in the fabric of the neighborhood, until it is practically covered, the Atac tram depot in San Paolo is one of the structures that best remember the city’s past, when such an area could be considered as peripheral to host a tram depot. Its history begins in the most brilliant period for the Roman municipal company: ATAG starts upgrading the tramway to the suburbs and inaugurates a number of depots. On April 2, 1928, it is the inauguration date of San Paolo’s depot: the third, and perhaps the largest, municipal tram depot. The depot houses the trams until 1961, which is also the same as the Vittoria depot in Bainsizza square, until the decline of the Roman trams. Since February 2004 it has no hubs, and has been declared an industrial archaeological interest structure.

SOCIAL HOUSING IN C AVA PA C E social housing units + commercial services and offices
The theme of the project involved the design of housing units, specifically social housing units, and services. It was also planned the organization of the green spaces adjacent the buildings. The project area is included within the District XI of Rome, between the main roads of via Ardeatina, via di Vigna Murata and via di Tor Carbone. The project area is characterized by the presence of two different sites: to the east there is the abusive nucleus of Cava Pace, to the west Tor Carbone’s area. The design concept highlights the desire to create a main axis of connection on which to graft the main activities of the area. This axis brings together the three centralities of the new district: the UNIVERSITY SQUARE, the CENTRAL SQUARE and the FOOD SQUARE. The University Square is at the center of university services and residences for students. The Central Square has cultural and commercial purposes. And finally there is the Food Square, with urban gardens and greenhouses, which is characterized by a large zero food miles market.

"SET UP THE ANTIQUE. SHAPES OF THE NEW IN VILLA ADRIANA" temporary project for performances and installations
The laboratory had as general theme the intervention in archeological areas aimed at temporary activities related to cultural events such as exhibitions and shows of various nature and declination. The area of intervention is an archaeological area of primary importance: the “Villa di Adriano complex in Tivoli. The purpose is to probe its willingness to welcome temporary events related to culture and entertainment, obviously in a compatibility regime with the constraints and site values. In the impossibility of compete with the ancient design and with the density of its tracks and memories, the only possible strategy of intervention is to work by difference, contrasting the forms of the new to those of the existing one. The project envisages the realization of an exhibition stand, therefore a pavilion specially designed for temporary events and exhibitions, and a show set-up designed for a special event.
