h i j a b i s ta street fashion

There are as many Muslim fashionista as in any other social group. Their looks, however, conform with the Islamic modesty code, perfectly blending fashion and hijab. The idea that the headscarf is a symbol of the suppression of the women is difficult to maintain as soon as the cover becomes an essential fashion accessoire.

N at u r e D e f e n s e engineered landscape

Whether there is man made climate change or not: civil protection agencies have to face the challenges of more frequent and more extreme weather events. They have to step up efforts to defend increasing numbers of vulnerable populations. As a photographer, Claudius Schulze has travelled and worked in over forty countries, concentrating on extended photographic projects. Though a documentary photographer, he tries to depict the imagined rather than the factual, always striving to find the world that lies below the surfaces of the obvious. His book Socotra (2011) is a visual journey to the idea of islands, strange and magical. It earned him the invitation to become an Associate with the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain and a nomination for the World Press Photo’s master class. Claudius’ work has appeared in numerous international publications including Geo, Stern, Der Spiegel, National Geographic Traveller, GQ, and he collaborated with agencies such as Winkreative, ringzwei, Hoffmann&Campe, and Journal International for clients such as RTL, IWC watches, Pictet, and BMW. His photographs have been exhibited in London, New York, Istanbul, Berlin, among others. Prior to photography, Claudius Schulze studied Political Science and Islamic Studies at Hamburg University and received a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Sabanci University, Istanbul. His artistic mastery was polished at LCC, University of the Arts London’s Master Program Documentary Photography and Photojournalism and most recently in the master class of Simon Norfolk. In 2012, Claudius Schulze was selected as one of Germany’s 30 journalists under 30. He works out of Brussels, Hamburg, and Istanbul.
