Graduation Summary To graduate from CVCHS students must: 1. Complete 220 semester credits in the specific subject requirements. (Each semester class is worth 5 credits and students are enrolled in 30 credits of coursework each semester). 2. Pass and complete Algebra I 3. Pass the CA High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) ďƒ˜ English portion (passing score 350+) ďƒ˜ Math portion (passing score 350+) *Students can retake the CAHSEE this Fall and Spring.

Minimum Requirements of College Preparatory classes

A. History/Social Science

2 years: World History, U.S. History/Government

B. English

4 years: College Prep English

C. Math

3 Years of college prep math. 4 years is highly recommended. Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II

D. Laboratory Science

2 years of lab science. 3 years of lab science is recommended: Biology, Chemistry, Physics

E. Language other than English

2 years same language, 3 years is recommended.

F.Visual/Performing Arts

1 year of college prep course from Art, Music, or Theater.

G. College Preparatory Elective

1 year of college prep electives

College Entrance Exams PSAT/NMSQT - The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT/NMSQT measures: critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. The PSAT is only administered one time per year in October (PSAT @ CVCHS-Oct 19th Last Day to Sign up Oct. 11th)

College Entrance Exams ACT –The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of tests in:  English  Mathematics,  Reading,  Science  Writing The ACT results are accepted by almost all U.S. colleges and universities. It is also preferred by many private colleges and public universities.
