• Damon Fazio, ND, RPE, RPP, LMT – is a naturopathic doctor, Registered Polarity Educator and Practitioner, and Licensed Massage Therapist and teaches the massage therapy continuing education classes. Licensed Massage Therapists are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years. Course details on page 8. • Michelle Turcotte, MS, RD, LDN/CD, NASM-CPT – teaches Nutrition over the Lifecycle series. Students will learn the nutrient concerns, challenges and needs unique to each phase of the lifecycle from birth to the “Golden Years.” Course details on page 6. • Gilbert Velez – teaches the 10-hour OSHA safety course for general industry. With over 28 years of experience in the environmental, industrial, and emergency response fields, Velez will prepare class participants to recognize, control, and abate hazards they are confronted with on jobsites. 1. Submit a Student Admission Form New students and students who have not attended classes in two years must submit a Student Admission Form in one of two ways: INTERNET: www.clcillinois.edu/applyconted.asp IN PERSON: At the Admissions and Records Office Room B101on the Grayslake Campus

Refund information: 2. Obtain CLC ID Number and Create myLogin Allow two working days to process your admission form application. You will receive your CLC student ID number in the mail. Visit www.clcillinois.edu/register to create your login.

3. Register for Classes By Internet at www.clcillinois.edu/register When you are ready to select your classes, use the CLC Classes By Term. You must specify the semester and then a subject, such as English, to view the classes available. To select a subject area click on the magnifying glass and then press the ‘Look Up’ button. When you find a specific class section you want, make note of the four-digit class number. You may register on the Web or in person in the Admissions office, B101 at the Grayslake Campus, the Student Services office at the Lakeshore Campus or the main office at the Southlake Educational Center. Online Self-Service requires that you have created myLogin. Once you have logged in, use the menu of options to add or drop classes, view your schedule, view grades or an unofficial transcript and use many other options. When you add or drop a class, check for a 'success' or 'error' message. Most errors are due to prerequisites not met or enrollment holds.

4. Pay Tuition and Fees To avoid being dropped from classes for non-payment, you must pay in full or enroll in the college’s FACTS installment tuition payment plan by your due date. Check the amount of your bill online by logging into myStudentCenter and selecting the “View, Pay or Setup FACTS Plan” link. Financial aid is not available for Continuing Education classes.

Students who withdraw from certificate programs or series offered by Continuing Professional Development prior to the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. Growing Your Future— One Skill at a Time. Take charge of your own professional development by enrolling in courses designed to help develop your career skills. With our training programs you can enhance current workforce competencies or learn new ones. You can also take courses to prepare for licensure, license renewal, or certification requirements. With the continually changing work environment, preparing yourself with new abilities or an alternative career is a smart strategy. Continuing Professional Development wants to be your training partner as you prepare for the future.

Are you a currently licensed salesperson or broker? The time to transition is now! CLC is offering Real Estate Core Competencies (PRLE 38). It will be offered through April 2012. This class will prepare you to pass the State of Illinois Proficiency Examination as well as provide you with 3 Core B CE units.

Prepare to be a real estate agent! The College of Lake County is approved by the Real Estate Bureau, part of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. A student must meet all the requirements to be able to fill to take the Broker’s or Managing Broker’s Examination given by the State of Illinois.

PRLE 2 and PRLE 3 fulfill the required broker pre-licensing exam course requirements. Attendance for all class hours and a passing score of 75 percent or better on the final exams are required, as mandated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In addition to meeting the course requirements, an applicant for the State of Illinois licensing examination must be a high school graduate (or GED recipient) and 21 years of age, or 18 years of age and have two years of college course work. Home Study is an option for completing part of the broker pre-licensing requirements (course code PRLE 2). Students who select this option must complete and submit assignments that fulfill the class time requirement. This allows students the freedom to complete the approved classes without having to attend regular class meetings. Home Study students are required to come to campus only to take the final exam. Home Study registrants must purchase both the necessary textbook and workbook for the appropriate class and should refer to the workbook for guidance and instructor contact information. These are NOT online courses. Broker post-licensing courses will be available starting Spring 2012. BROKER PRE-LICENSING TOPICS This course, with the Broker Pre-Licensing Applied Principles course (PRLE 3), fulfills the new education requirements for obtaining an Illinois Real Estate Broker license. You are required to attend all Sessions which include: introduction to the license law and real property; basics of agency, seller and buyer relationships and counseling; local, state and federal laws effecting real estate; brokerage, marketing and advertising; market analysis and appraisal; financing, contracts, independent contractor and employee status, occupational disciplines and business planning. A textbook is required and should be purchased at the CLC bookstore prior to class.

REAL ESTATE CORE COMPETENCIES Preparing to take the State of Illinois Real Estate Transition exam? Prepare for and then take the exam in this one Session. This satisfies all requirements for the State of Illinois Real Estate Transition and covers material for both the salesperson to broker and broker to managing broker. Exam review will begin in the morning, continue through the afternoon, and all exams will be concluded no later than 5pm. This course is also approved for 3 hours of Core B CE credit. All materials, exam fee, and exam are included in course fees.

BEVERAGE AND ALCOHOL SELLERS AND SERVERS EDUCATIONAL TRAINING-BASSET Protect your liquor license and reduce your risk as an alcohol server. Liquor license owners, alcohol sellers and servers learn how to determine servability of patrons, the physical and psychological effects of alcohol, local ordinances of alcohol consumption and driving, Blood Alcohol Concentration, and determination of proper ID’s. BASSET is certified by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, and is required by the Lake County Commission and various other municipalities for facilities licensed to serve and sell alcohol. The course does NOT prepare individuals to be bartenders. The Spanish Interpreter Certification Program prepares Spanish bilingual speakers to enter the field of oral interpretation. The program now consists of five sections, two covering the healthcare industry, one dealing with the field of education and the last two sections detailing interpretation in the legal setting. Each course consists of 50 hours of classroom instruction and an additional 10 hours of clinical work experience. Program participants will learn interpretation techniques that will enable them to work in an educational, legal or healthcare environment. The majority of the classroom instruction is conducted in Spanish. Training includes oral interpretation exercises, role playing, small group work, vocabulary study, Spanish/English grammar review, presentations, memory enhancing exercises, and a clinical presentation. The courses are independent so you may enroll at the start of any module. All new students will be required to successfully complete an assessment test at the first meeting of their initial class.

TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING (CDL) BASIC 160 (10-0) 10 HOURS This 160-hour basic training course will prepare you for a career as a commercial truck driver. Gain the knowledge and skills to prepare for the state-issued Commercial Drivers License (CDL) exams, including the permit test, pre-trip inspection test, skills tests, and road tests. You will learn CDL laws, use of controls, safe driving techniques, and defensive driving. The course includes classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training and utilizes practices tests designed to prepare you for the CDL permit exam. A course designed to prepare students to take the state licensing examination for home inspectors is offered by Continuing Professional Development at CLC. This 60-hour course, which is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, covers all the major elements of home inspection. In addition to meeting the course requirement (Course Code PRLE 40), State of Illinois Licensing Examination applicants must be high school graduates and a minimum of 21 years of age. Licensing of home inspectors in the State of Illinois has been required since January 2003. The home inspection course is designed to meet the needs of hose with a working knowledge of contracting, the building trades, architecture, or engineering. 3. Register for Classes By Internet at www.clcillinois.edu/register When you are ready to select your classes, use the CLC Classes By Term. You must specify the semester and then a subject, such as English, to view the classes available. To select a subject area click on the magnifying glass and then press the ‘Look Up’ button. When you find a specific class section you want, make note of the four-digit class number. You may register on the Web or in person in the Admissions office, B101 at the Grayslake Campus, the Student Services office at the Lakeshore Campus or the main office at the Southlake Educational Center. Online Self-Service requires that you have created myLogin. Once you have logged in, use the menu of options to add or drop classes, view your schedule, view grades or an unofficial transcript and use many other options. When you add or drop a class, check for a 'success' or 'error' message. Most errors are due to prerequisites not met or enrollment holds.

4. Pay Tuition and Fees To avoid being dropped from classes for non-payment, you must pay in full or enroll in the college’s FACTS installment tuition payment plan by your due date. Check the amount of your bill online by logging into myStudentCenter and selecting the “View, Pay or Setup FACTS Plan” link. Financial aid is not available for Continuing Education classes.
