‘Print on Demand’ needed for CLC Kenya & CLC Philippines Praise Update: Thank God for the donation of a POD (Print on Demand) machine to CLC Myanmar! The equipment arrived in July and an expert travelled to Yangon to set it up and give on-site training to the team. As the name suggests, this machine prints, collates, covers and binds a single book in just a few minutes. Praise the Lord for this wonderful gift and pray for the ministry impact it will have across the nation. Printing on demand lowers both the reliance on imports (if you are a wholesaler) and the investment needed to produce and then store traditional print runs (if you are a publisher). The profits from the sale of these Bibles is being split between the cost of publishing more of these Bibles, as well as setting funds aside to open a second bookshop in Belarus as one is desperately needed in the capital of Minsk. Christian books CHANGE lives, but making sure they are available and affordable is always a challenge! ‘Print on Demand’ systems are key to seeing areas challenged by shipping and publishing costs thrive in the future. (These systems generally cost upwards of £12,000.)
Why send a shipping container to CLC Mozambique? Early this year, our shop in Mozambique was devastated by TERMITES! They ruined the shelving units, office equipment and the stock! As you can imagine, this has greatly impacted the ministry of our team. CLC UK and some amazing supporters have put together a great selection of books, shelving and other necessary goods to get them back up and running smoothly! Thanking God for all He has done in 2014 and looking foward to what the future holds... Although 2014 started with the sad closure of the CLC Bookshop in Kingston upon Thames due to falling sales and an unsustainable future, things greatly improved at our Stephenson Street branch in Birmingham when the street became an access point for New Street train station. This boost was then followed in August by the joyful opening of the CLC Carrs Lane Bookshop, also in Birmingham. We are very excited and thankful to God for these two city centre shops! Would you pray with us for their growing impact on the city and its surrounding area? Given that, in general terms, the UK high street is shrinking, can we encourage you, dear reader, to regularly visit (and buy from) your local Christian bookshop — if you still have one — and to encourage others to do so too? It’s not just a much-needed place of ministry, resourcing and fellowship, but also a place of outreach and witness. Our shop teams daily meet people who are searching for God and meaning in their lives, but who do not always feel comfortable going into a church. Despite the general decline in bookshops here in the UK, we are thrilled to report that our warehouse team won the CRT Distributor of the Year award again this year — that’s three years in a row! (2012 - 2014) They have been doing such a fantastic job supplying bookshops and other ministries that the mission is trusting the Lord for a move to larger premises somewhere in or above the Midlands in 2015. This is quite a challenge and we are still looking for a suitable place! Please pray with us. As an international mission, we are committed, where possible, to profiling and supporting the needs of Christian literature-related projects around the world. Thanks to your purchases we are able to do so! A huge thank you also to those whose gifts have been sent in to support of our team members and projects, such a Shop-in-a-Box, Bibles for Africa and for Belarus. Legacies: Legacies have made such a big difference to our ministry and global outreach, providing finance for our bigger projects and enabling the start-up of CLC ministries in a ‘new’ country. By including CLC International (UK) in your will, you enable us to continue playing our part in the Great Commission. We quite understand that you want to remember your family and friends in your will. Yet, by including CLC International (UK) too, your legacy can support and resource mission groups around the world as well as outreaches locally to future generations.
