INTELLIGENCE
This guide is intended to be used in association with installation and safety manuals found on our website and should not be used exclusively for fireplace operation.
When purchasing an ethanol fireplace insert, it is important to know the following: •
When burning ethanol, real fire is produced which consumes oxygen. For safe operation, an insert may only be employed in a space of 200 cubic feet per 1,000 BTU emitted. Cubic footage is calculated using L x W x H of the space.
•
An insert must only be installed into a surround of non-combustible material and clearances published must be adhered to. Overhead clearance is not negotiable for allowance of flame height and appropriate heat dispersion.
•
If installing the insert under a television, you must have at least 24-30 inches of clearance between the top of the burner and the bottom of the television. A mantle or shelf-like structure in between is also recommended to impede heat transfer.
•
The increase of temperature provided by the burner’s heat output is relative to the size and insulation quality of the space in which it is installed.
•
If using the insert outdoors, only those in the EB RANGE may be considered. It is important that the insert has partial cover and not be directly exposed to the elements. Installation in locales with saltwater in the air is not suggested.
•
The flame height that is produced will vary. Elemental factors and amount of fuel in the insert’s reservoir are factors that help to dictate height of flame.
•
When grouping inserts in pairs or more, a 2-inch side clearance is required between burners. Any arrangement other than in linear fashion is not suggested, as vapors from other burners in the arrangement may combust when fueling others.
•
An ethanol fireplace insert MAY NOT be installed into cabinetry. This type of installation requires an Ignis® Zero-Clearance Firebox. Visit our website or call for details.

ASK YOURSELF: WHAT WOULD I LIKE TO ACHIEVE? WILL I USE THE FIREPLACE OCCASIONALLY OR OFTEN? DO I PLAN TO USE IT OUTDOORS? HOW LARGE IS MY SPACE?
