In 2011 the UK’s Outdoor Media Centre (OMC) and Campaign magazine teamed up to showcase the best creative work from across the last five decades by launching the Outdoor Hall of Fame www. outdoorhalloffame.co.uk. More than 10,000 people voted for their favourite posters, with Hello Boys & Terrible Thing Envy by TBWA for Wonderbra in 1990 taking the top spot. Mike Baker, Chief Executive of the Outdoor Media Centre, said: “It’s clear that really successful posters create lasting memories and a real affection which goes beyond just nostalgia. Digital out-of-home is a dynamic medium which offers a platform for brands to offer real-time, tactical, topical and flexible advertising. Digital out-of-home is not just a broadcast outlet, it is a tool for brands to engage with their customers. CCI’s digital out-of-home estate consists of 1,600 panels in nine countries across Europe. These are in multiple formats in multiple environments including airport, rail, metro, malls and flagship sites such as in London’s Piccadilly Circus. SmartBike Pedal power.
SmartBike is a sustainable public transport. Ten years ago, Clear Channel launched the first-ever public bike-sharing programme. Since then, we have developed bespoke solutions with cities such as Stockholm, Milan, Barcelona and Oslo. Subscribers and tourists have made 4.5 million trips and covered an estimated 14 million kilometres on our bikes. Our SmartBike systems offer cities a new, sustainable, healthy form of public transport that fills the gaps that buses and trams can’t reach, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Nike Mount Rushmore campaign was planned over three months as a centre-piece of Nike’s World Cup advertising activity. This collaboration between Nike, Clear Channel’s Create team, Wieden & Kennedy, Mindshare and Kinetic was named the number one outdoor campaign of 2010 by the UK’s prestigious Campaign magazine.

Process.
Nike provided us with time to scan the faces of their brand ambassadors, including Wayne Rooney, so we could develop 3D images of the players.
The 3D scans allowed us to laser-cut polystyrene to create the giant heads that would dominate the site.
A fleet of lorries delivered the heads to the Cromwell Road which, at 4.5m in height, had to be transported and installed individually.
The Cromwell Road location is the busiest A road in Europe, connecting Heathrow Airport with Central London, and the most suitable location for the most ambitious outdoor build ever produced in the UK.
