Humberts specialises in providing trusted residential, rural and commercial property advice. They help thousands of clients buy, sell and manage their homes, farms, land and investments.
We based the client’s map on a couple searching for their perfect country retreat in the Lake District.
Our brief was to create a new cartographic design for the new Humberts Windermere branch, based on a single, quirky sketch provided in the style guide.

gate.The Herdwick sheep are a key feature in the landscape and give the artwork a strong sense of place. The client was delighted with the wall map and has plans to further raise their brand locally with a delicious Foodie Map.

We can follow your own established brand guidelines, in terms of imagery, colours and text. The challenges with Winkworth’s original style guide was the heavy influence of hand-drawn lettering, which previous to our involvement had slowed down the production times of each map. We started from scratch and developed a clear checklist for each site.
We streamlined common features using data derived from OS Open Data, enabling all roads and name labels to be displayed accurately. We also created a handdrawn font unique to Winkworth, ensuring minimal editing and verification required in the final stages.

Good Life Cottage Company has a great reputation in the Lake District for marketing lovely holiday properties to a national and international audience. When it came to the new office in Windermere, the key words were friendly and welcoming. They wanted people to feel at ease, and pop in to the office for a friendly chat with no obligation. Following consultation with the client, it was decided
that the cartographic style should blend in with the interior design in terms of colour and style, by harking back to the days of A Wainwright and Arthur Ransome’s “Swallows and Amazons” stories. A simpler time of good wholesome outdoor fun. The entire area is based on four OS Explorer Map sheet areas, which means you can see the whole of the Lake District in its entirety. We could then be more particular on the ‘must do’ peaks and places to visit
while on holiday. We love creating new concepts!
