THE TRUTH The first time the word truth is found in the Bible is in Genesis 24:27. It states: “...Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth...”. God will always make sure we have the truth; it is what we do with it that is the problem. We know that the truth is in the Bible, however, there are about 200 new versions that do not have all the verses that we have in the Authorized King James Version. Someone once said that there is no change of doctrine between the different Bibles. Listen, if it is not the same, it is different! Now, look with me in Psalm 85:10: “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” They met together in Jesus Christ. He has the mercy and the truth. The truth is that we are sinners but the mercy is that He forgives us. In John 14:6 Jesus said: “...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” In John 18:38 Pilate asked the question: “...What is truth?...” Well, Jesus had just told him: “...for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” However, it is hard for the world to define truth. Like Pilate, the world questions it. God’s truth is in the Bible but the shame of it is that many people have departed from it. Just this last week the church was sent a book in the mail which they wanted us to promote. Normally I would not have paid much attention to it but it said that they had the name of the beast of Revelation. So naturally I turned to the chapter dealing with that subject. We know, according to the Bible, the name of the Antichrist. But, I was just curious to see what they had to say. Well, Bob Fraley, who is the author, says that the beast is America! He said he had a vision from God. Well, he is not the first to come up with these kind of pipe dreams. We do not promote this kind of baloney. These writers need to get back to the Bible and forget about all this other nonsense. They need to stay tied in to the truth! Fraley says he was in a trance and Jesus showed him this. Well, he might have been in a trance, but

it wasn’t with Jesus! His name is Fraley and he frays the truth. Evidently James Dobson agrees with him because his picture is in Fraley’s book. Dobson has put his reputation on the line and both Fraley and him are wrong. Be careful Ladies and Gentlemen what you read. Stick to what you know is true, the Bible. None of these writers are connected with a local church and the local church is where the truth is going to be held. The local church is the guardian of the truth. I will show you that. Turn with me to I Timothy 3:15 where Paul said: “...that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” The local church is the pillar and ground of the truth, not some radio station or some off the wall book. In Jeremiah 6:16 God said: “...Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” We have the same problem today! Our churches are becoming so weak that they are not able to hold to the truth. The answer to the problem is found in Revelation 3:8 when Christ is talking to the church of Philadelphia and says: “...hast kept my word...”. We need to keep the word of God and nothing else! Look what He says about the church of Laodicea, which means: of the people or where the people rule: “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Most churches have joined the Laodicean movement today; they want to please everyone so they are conforming to the world. They are lukewarm! We are in the era of Laodicea, but we do not have to participate in it; get back to the old paths, stick to the truth!
