Virginia Lee Cohen, 83, of New Richmond, Oh., died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. She is survived by her husband: Bobby Cohen, 7 children: Sandra (Richard) McHenry, Deborah Pierce, Sam Day, Steve (Angel) Day and the late Cindy Fleming, Victoria Cohen and Rebecca Cohen, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers: Ernie Cann and Kenny Cann, 3 sisters, Addrey Jones, Dorothy Owens and Gladys Huntley, numerous nephews, nieces and other family. William, “Bill”….“Willis” Morrison Kirker’s Life will be celebrated Saturday, June 28, 2014. There will be a ceremony for family and close friends at Kirker Cemetery at 1pm under the direction of the Lafferty Funeral Home of West Union. At 3 pm there will be a Celebration of his beautiful life and spirit at Tom and Janie Kirker’s home. Bill Kirker was the great-great-great grandson of Ohio’s second Governor, Thomas Kirker. The grandson of the late Charles S. Kirker, Sr. and Isadora. And the nephew of Charles S. Kirker, Jr. and Jean. Bill attended second grade at Liberty Township. He lived and visited here throughout his entire life. He dearly loved his family, the Kirker Homestead, and West Union, Ohio. He was born in Winter Haven, Florida on January 27, 1955. He was the son of William Harold Kirker, originally of West Union and the Kirker Homestead. Bill’s mother was Helen Louise Morrison Kirker of Winter Haven, Florida. Bill valued family and was dearly loved by those closest to him. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Kirker of Merritt Island, Florida and Karen Wilder of Winter Haven, Florida. And his nephew, Brian Keith Kirker of Winter Haven, Florida. He was considered “Uncle Wild Bill” to Adam and Aaron Kirker and many of their close friends. And there are also many close and very dear cousins, family, and friends who love him. Bill loved sports and was full of sports facts and information. He played football, was 6th in the State in wrestling, and was an undefeated champion tennis player in high school. He also played in many Adams County Turkey Bowls!! Bill worked as a veterinarian’s assistant in Maryland and Florida. He had a kindred spirit toward animals. He was very close to both veterinarians and both felt he should become a vet. While in Ohio he also worked with his cousin, Chip Kirker, at Upper Case Graphics. Bill lived in Paradise right on the ocean in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Many say he lived a Jimmy Buffet lifestyle, a free spirit and great friend to everyone. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2014 in Florida. But just the way Willis wanted to go out…with his “boots/flipflops” on!! The Lafferty Funeral Home, West Union, served the family.

She is survived by her husband Fred Applegate, 4 sons Steve (Sandy), Darrell (Connie), Tony (Joni) and Scott (Angela), 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Judy Tucker, and Gloria Jean Tomlin, 1 half-brother Kenny French. (Carl) Laney and Joyce (Gary) Fultz, grandmother of six and great-grandmother of thirteen, sister of Marie (Tony) Painter, Ed (Mary Ann) Lang, and Jack Lang. NOE II Last week I left off with the sons of the Sethites marrying the daughters of the Cainites in Genesis 6:1. The Sethites were the godly line and the Cainites were the wicked line. Now let’s take a look at Cain and his family while we are looking at the situation here that existed in the time before the flood and the early creation of man. In the early creation of man you find in verse 17 of Genesis 4 that Cain and his wife had a son and called his name Enoch. Cain built a city and named it the city of Enoch. (Now do not confuse this Enoch with the righteous Enoch that we find later on.) In this city of Enoch we find that there was a society of very high culture. They were a highly educated and advanced society. I believe that they were naturally smarter than we are. Most people believe that each generation gets smarter than the one before but I believe that we have dumbed down since Adam. Adam did not have to be taught anything; he just naturally knew everything. I do not think that we can comprehend the knowledge that they had back in the Antediluvian age. We find the truth of their knowledge in chapter 4 of Genesis. However, in verse 19 we also find the practice of polygamy! That I cannot say was very brilliant. However, in verse 20 we find the cattleman. He wasn’t just keeping wild animals; he was in the cattle business. In verse 21 we find musicians which also involves the making of musical instruments such as harps and organs. In verse 22 we have Tubal-cain who was an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron. Now brass is not mined. Brass is an alloy. Copper is mined and silver is mined but brass is the combining of metals. They had knowledge of and practice of mixing metals which makes it stronger and more pliable so that it can be used for other purposes. So, there were metallurgists who were in to specialized metals. In fact, when Noah’s ark was found, they found titanium in it. We did not discover titanium until 1790. It was discovered by Rev. William Gregor but it was not until 1920, 120 years later, that a process was developed that allowed the metal to be extracted from the ore.

Bruce D. Kuyper, 70 Bruce D. Kuyper, 70, of Fayetteville, Oh., passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was born June 3, 1944. Mr. Kuyper drove a school bus for Fayetteville for over 31 years. He was a former member of Eastern Hills Rod and Gun Club and an avid trap shooter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel L. and Margaret I. Kuyper. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Kuyper of Fayetteville, loving father of Michelle (Rick) Purdin of Fayetteville, and Danny Kuyper of Fayetteville, caring grandfather of Andy (Jessica) Purdin of Fayetteville, Justin (Rachel) Purdin of Williamsburg, Madison Kuyper of Fayetteville, Austin Kuyper of Fayetteville, Wyatt "Little Danny" Kuyper of Fayetteville, and Brody Purdin of Fayetteville, dear great-grandfather of Teagan Purdin of Williamsburg, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and family. Donald Gene Meadows, 68 Donald Gene Meadows, 68 of Ripley, Ohio, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a United States Army Vietnam War Era Veteran. Mr. Meadows was a teacher and coach for Ripley and Eastern Schools and also had worked in construction later in life. He was born October 30, 1945 in Maysville, Kentucky the son of the late Eugene and Joyce (Poe) Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother – Ruby Poe and his aunt and uncle – Patsy and Wayne Owens. Mr. Meadows is survived by one son – Jesse Meadows of Hillsboro, Ohio; one grandson – Drake Meadows; one uncle – Gene Linville of Ripley, Ohio and one aunt – Doris Hare of Ripley, Ohio. However, Noah used it in the building of the ark! Now, verse 22 also tells us that Tubal-cain had a sister named Naamah. She is believed to be the wife of Noah and that is how the line of Cain survived the flood. That would make all 3 sons of Noah half Sethite and half Cainite and so are you and so am I. There is no getting the murderer of Cain out of the family of man because we are all decedents of Noah’s family. That is very evident with all the violence and lying we see today because Cain was not only a murderer, he was a liar also. How many have hatched out since then? Well, it is an interesting study of the civilization that existed there in Chapter 4 and I believe that we are still trying to catch up to the level of intelligence that the civilization had. As I said before, we have dumbed down a lot since that Antediluvian age. I believe that God restricted them as to what inventions they could get into. It isn’t that we are so much smarter than they were; it is only that God has opened up more doors for us. And do you know what? All these TV’s and computers have not helped to bring up the morals of this society. In fact, they have helped to drag the morals down; so how smart does that make us? The Bible tells us that in the days of Noah the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually and we are following the same tract. That is why Jesus said that when He comes back that our society will be in the same shape as the societies of both Noah and Lot. You do not have to look very far to see the resemblance between their civilizations and ours. Furthermore, godly people are still intermarrying with ungodly people and we don’t care whether God is grieved or not.

Anna Louise ‘Weezie’ (Hudson) McKee, 86 Anna Louise ‘Weezie’ (Hudson) McKee, 86, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the cherished wife of the late Ralph McKee and precious daughter of the late Evelyn and Ulie Hudson. Mother of Mark Keitz, devoted stepmother to Janice (Donald) Larrison and the late Dennis Adams, beloved grandmother to Sherry (Damon) Smith and Kathy (Chris) Warman. Weezie was adored by her great grandchildren Chris, Tonya, Shawna, Tyler and Jordan; great-great grandchildren Christopher, Morgan, Anna, Preston, Isabella, Isaac, Reagan and Tanner; siblings Marian Seals and Phil Hudson and the late Bob and Harold Hudson. Weezie will be greatly missed by 25 nieces, nephews, their families and the Taggert family of Felicity. The family is deeply grateful to Dora Bailey for her loving care and support. Louise’s 86 years were focused on her family and her faith. She was a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher and a member of the choir at The First Baptist Church of Felicity. Her life was the moral and spiritual compass for those she loved…and who loved her in return. A talented artist and vocalist, Weezie loved reading, Pavarotti, crossword puzzles, floral arranging, travel, board games, Pinochle & Euchre, and was a true Jeopardy champ! She was a true patriot and staunch supporter of the Constitution of The United States. Jim Gatts, 60, of Russellville, passed away Friday June 6, 2014 at his home.
