WB homecoming plans
The annual Western Brown Homecoming parade passes through the village of Mt. Orab on Friday, October 7th. The parade lines up at 4:30 pm at the Mt. Orab Church of Christ and leaves the grounds at 5:30 pm. It concludes at the high school before the football game. All high school organizations should line up at the Mt. Orab Church of Christ, located at 400 Smith Avenue. All other school and community groups should plan to line up at the Mt. Orab

A resurfacing and bridge repair project will soon be under way on U.S. Route 52 in Brown County as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 begin construction later this week. Crews from the Brown County Asphalt will be paving U.S. 52 from Hanover Street in Ripley to the western corporation limit of Aberdeen. Construction also includes repairs on U.S. 68 to the approaches of the U.S. 52 overpass to the William Harsha Bridge. The contractors are scheduled to begin Friday, September 30, and while crews are at work, traffic will be reduced to one lane and maintained by flaggers. The Brown County Asphalt Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $506,458 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late October. In a separate project, Brown County Asphalt crews have begun resurfacing U.S. 68, from approximately two miles north of Georgetown to the northern corporation limit of Mt. Orab. Construction also includes rehabilitating bridges and installing ADA ramps in Mt. Orab. Throughout construction of this $1.06 million project, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-November. Brown County Genealogy Society to meet
The Brown County Genealogy Society will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary on October 15. They will hold their annual Fall Family Heritage Fest, at the Georgetown Methodist Church. Registration begins at 9am. This year their guest speaker will be Bev Braun. Bev will be sharing her experiences during her Family Heritage Trip to Germany & France. Following Bev’s presentation lunch will be served by the Country Inn Restaurant. Anniversary cake will be served and door prizes awarded. After Lunch, the induction of the newest members of Brown County’s First Families will be held. Over the years the Society has recognized 137 of their members who have traced their family lines back to the early settlers of Brown County. After the ceremony, Donna Skinner, President of the Society, will give a presentation on the Society’s 40 year history. The public is invited to attend. Members of the Brown Co.
