OBITUARIES Donald E. Stephens, 79 Donald E. Stephens, 79 of Fayetteville, Oh., died Monday, March 24, 2014 in a farm accident in Fayetteville, Oh. He was a retired school bus driver for Fayetteville-Perry Local Schools for 20 years. He was also a proud life-long farmer and a member of the St. Angela Merici Parish, St. Patrick Chapel. Donald was born March 17, 1935 in Mt. Orab, the son of the late Joseph A. Stephens and Antionette (Yeager) Stephens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister – Marjorie (Stephens) Meyer and one nephew – Richard Snyder. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife of 54 years – Dorothy (Gauche) Stephens whom he married on February 27, 1960; two daughters – Sandra Wiederhold and husband Bill of Williamsburg, and Janet Luschek and husband Tom of Lynchburg, one son – Joseph Stephens and wife Tina of Fayetteville, seven grandchildren – Tim Luschek, Jeff Luschek and wife Theresa, Susanne Christie and husband Joe, Craig Wiederhold, Eric Wiederhold, Andrew Stephens and Jason Stephens; two great-grandchildren – McKayla Christie and Austin Christie; one sister – Jean (Stephens) Snyder of Dayton, Oh., and many nieces and nephews. Katherine Elizabeth Swisher Culbertson, 103 Katherine Elizabeth Swisher Culbertson, 103, died February 27, 2014 in Pinellas Park, FL. Mrs. Culbertson was a native of Ripley and the daughter of the late Elizabeth Monroe and Edward E. Swisher. She was a 1928 graduate of Ripley High School. Mrs. Culbertson was an accomplished musician and was the organist at Ripley Centenary United Methodist Church and playing piano accompanied silent films at one of Ripley's early movie theaters. Mrs. Culbertson was a manager for a chain of women's clothing stores in Portsmouth and Hamilton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Culbertson and 10 brothers and sisters. One of her sisters, Jeannette Swisher Klinker, was a lifelong Ripley resident. Mrs. Culbertson is survived by one daughter, Melissa Clark Critoph and her son-in-law, Barry, of Florida. Others survivors include several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Ripley at the convenience of the family.

Estelle Humphrey Rose, 88 Estelle Humphrey Rose, 88 of Ripley, Oh., died Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was a nurse, a founding member of the Ripley Life Squad Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the Ripley Museum and a former trustee of the Pisgah Ridge Cemetery Perpetual Care Association. Mrs. Rose was born February 23, 1926 in Herrin, Ill., the daughter of the late Mary Lou Stone Humphrey Darnell. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather – George Darnell; one brother – William Humphrey; three sisters – Juanita Berrelli, Eddiebelle Jones and Mary Louise Noland. Mrs. Rose is survived by one daughter – Patricia Lee Edwards (Daniel) of Batavia, two sons – Michael Ray Rose (Sharon) of Cincinnati, and William Thomas Rose of Batavia, four grandchildren – Jessica Wathan O’Neal (Christopher) of Batavia, Christopher Daniel Edwards (Elizabeth) of Batavia, Derrick Thomas Rose of Cincinnati, and Darrenn Michael Rose of Cincinnati, one great grandchild – Brennen Edwards and one great grand dog – Enzo O’Neal.
