Who is your Father?

Acts 4:8-12: “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” There is only one name given under heaven whereby we must be saved and that is the name of Jesus! Peter, who at one time in his own strength was weak and denying Christ, is now preaching in the mighty power of the Holy Ghost. He is speaking of a miracle which took place by the Temple. Look with me in chapter 3 and begin in verse 2: “And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Do you know what that was? It was truly a miracle. But, ladies and gentlemen, there is a miracle that is just as great that happens most every day. When a person gets saved that too is a miracle. When all of those sins that would send a person to a devil’s hell where he would spend all eternity is washed clean, that is an amazing miracle! It does not matter if you believe in hell or not, hell is

still real. According to Matthew 25:41, hell was prepared for the devil and his angels, not for people. But if you refuse to accept Christ as your Saviour, God is not your Father. Jesus said in John 8:42: “...If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God...” Verse 44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do...” If you refuse Christ, Satan is your father and you will join him in hell for all eternity. Mark 9:43-44 states: “...it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” You might say: Preacher, that is a terrible thing to say. However, it is not a terrible to say because we need to warn people so that they will not go there! Besides that, I didn’t say it, Jesus did. You can take it up with Him. Hell is real, people! The Bible says in Jude 7: “...suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” That is why it was so very important that the holy, perfect, sinless, Son of God would leave heaven and live here for 33 years, then die on that old rugged cross and shed His precious blood for you and me. That is why it was so very important for Him to rise again the third day and offer His blood on that heavenly altar for the atonement of our sins. He made that sacrifice so that we would not have to suffer the vengeance of eternal fire. But, He allows us to make the choice. He made the way to heaven possible; we make the choice to go there or not by either accepting Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, or rejecting Him. If you accept Christ, God is your Father; If you reject Him, Satan is your father and you will live with Satan for all eternity.
