The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 156 is offering free life memberships. The Chapter meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Union Township Civic Center building located at 4350 Aicholtz Rd., Union Township. The meetings are open to all veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart. Chapter 156 has members from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The Chapter can help Purple Heart veterans understand the benefits that are available to them.
The Cincinnati Chapter Of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of the LGBQT People) announces a new monthly meeting, every 3rd Wednesday 7-9 pm at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church, 6474 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45230. This is in addition to the long-standing 2nd Tuesday meetings held in Clifton. Aside from providing an outlet and support to LGBTQ parents, friends and loved ones, many people come to meetings for support before or after coming out to family and others. The meetings serve as a safe forum in which to ask questions, learn the vocabulary, connect with others and learn how better to embrace your loved one. “There is a need for another time and place for those who cannot get to the Clifton meeting each month,” steering committee member Debra Ruehlman says. “We want to provide support for not just those we know, but for new friends who don’t know where to turn.” All are welcome as PFLAG is not affiliated with any religious or political organization. People of all geographic areas, faiths and walks of life are invited for support and fellowship. A support group for parents that have lost children, The Compassion Friends, meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, Beechmont Ave. The Clermont County Historical Society and Harmony Hill Association (Williamsburg Historical Society) museums will be open to the public the first Saturday of the month from 1 - 4 p.m. The museums are located at Harmony Hill, 299 S.Third Street, Williamsburg. The Harmony Hill Association display features William Lytle, Father of Clermont County, and Williamsburg’s history. The Clermont County Historical Society archives will be open for research of Clermont County history. Also at the site is the Lytle Diary House, the oldest building in Clermont County. THE VILLAGE OF WILLIAMSBURG is seeking an Assistant Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator. This position reports directly to the Public Works Supervisor and is primarily responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenenace of the Water/Wastewater Treatment systems and associated collection system along with variety of additional duties related to daily assistance in operations of the Public Works Department. Ideal Candidate will possess the ability to effectively communicate with elected officials, employees and general public, as the Public Works Department is highly recognized throughout our community. Qualifiations include but are not limited to knowledge and experience with public works equipment and tools. Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent; a valid Ohio Driver’s License; possess or have the ability to obtain Class A CDL and Class I Water and/or Wastewater License within 12 months. Work is physically demanding and requires occasional evening and weekend work. This is a full time position wth starting pay of $13.00 per hour plus excellent benefits package.
