Whether it’s front-to-back or back-to front, plenty of hugs in children’s book You’ve had enough cookies for today. Mom says that sometimes; mostly when it’s true. But can you ever have enough cookies? For that matter, can you ever have enough toys, TV, playtime, or visits to Grandma’s? In the new book “I’ll Hug You More” by Laura Duksta, illustrated by Melissa Iwai, there’s always a chance for more extra-special things. When morning comes, it’s time to get up! Open your eyes, jump out of bed, and start your day with a huge hug. Can you think of anything better? There’s a hug as “thank you” for a yummy breakfast. A hug for your best stuffed animal. A hug for a snack, and for just because. But morning isn’t the only time you give hugs. You give them before school and when you come home. You give them after playtime, after suppertime, and after your evening bath. You give hugs just before bedtime and after you’re sleepy beneath the blankets. You know that tomorrow, there’ll be another wake-up call and lots of hugs to give. Tomorrow, you’ll hug more. And again. And once more. Then when morning comes, it’s time to get up! tickle. A hug when someone reads your favorite book aloud. A hug when you leave the house and one when you come inside. You get hugs whether you’re wet or dry, when on land and in water, swinging and wishing and staying safe. After each “I love you” and every “I love you more,” you can count on a hug. You’ll get one just before bedtime and after you’re sleepy beneath the blankets. Because you know that tomorrow, there’ll be another wake-up call and lots of hugs to get. Tomorrow, you’ll get more hugs. And again. And once more…. Everybody loves routine. The same-old, same-old is comforting, but there are times when shaking things around and tipping them upside down is good, too. And you’ll get plenty of that when your child has “I’ll Hug You More.” Start this book, and you’re treated to a sweet little poem between mother and child. It’s filled with expressions of love and reminders to show affection in all kinds of ways, beginning first thing in the morning and ending the night with more endearments. That makes this a sleep-on-

it kind of book, perfect for bedtime. Then again, this is a book that never ends – by design. Author Laura Duksta builds in a twist, literally, so that when the hugger has done her job, you’re compelled to twist and flip the physical book to get the story from the huggee’s
point of view, complete with different illustrations by Melissa Iwai. That makes this a really cute tale from both sides, and the novelty of it is something kids will like. Give “I’ll Hug You More” to your 4-to-8-year-old, in fact, and she won’t be able to get enough of it.

Cincinnati Eastside Rotary presents a check totaling more than $11,000 through proceeds from the Charity 4Children Gala to support youth initiatives in the local community.
The Cincinnati-Eastside Rotary Club supports youth programs
The Cincinnati-Eastside Rotary Club presented a check totaling more than $11,000 to several local initiatives serving youth in eastern Hamilton and western Clermont Counties. The award came from proceeds raised by Cincinnati Eastside Rotary through its Charity 4-Children Gala that took place in October. This annual gala featured dinner, music, and live and silent auctions to support four worthy area organizations: Boys & Girls Club of
Clermont County, CourtAppointed Special Advocates for Clermont County (CASA), Inter Parish Ministry, and Stopping the Abuse Before It Ever Starts. Proceeds will impact the community by: • Providing food, clothing and communal support to youth in need • Changing lives and building great futures for young people who require a safe place to spend time outside school hours • Enlisting and training volunteers to make a differ-
ence in the lives of abused and neglected children • Educating high school students before they have children to be good parents and to never hurt, abuse or neglect a child. “Since our Club’s original charter in 2013, we have focused on youth who are served by the unique talents and leadership of Rotary.” said Cincinnati Eastside President Eric Radtke. “We are grateful for the Rotarians and friends who helped make this event a success and gratified to learn from
each organization the impact this support will have in our community.” Cincinnati-Eastside Rotary engages in fellowship, service and education each Wednesday during luncheon meetings beginning at noon at Ivy Hills Country Club in Newtown. Members represent a vast range of business, non-profit and government leaders striving to improve communities. For more information or to join, please visit w w w.
