No hunting within 400 feet of any picnic area, construction area, residence, barn, service building, shelter house, beach, backpack trail, parking lot, road of other structure of driveway within any area administered by the Division of Parks and Recreation. No Sunday hunting on Park Administered land. Hunting of all game, except waterfowl, is prohibited on state park administered areas on Sunday. HUNTING IS PROHIBITED WITHIN 200 FT. OF THE STEVE NEWMAN WORLDWALKER PERIMETER TRAIL ON THE WILDLIFE AREA.

Howdy Everyone, Winter is here and it has been very cold so we are really getting some very cold days. Hope it kills some of the bugs. Duck hunters are liking it, lots of ducks and geese on the lake and they have been doing very good. Deer hunting has been slow this season with the deer kill down about 20%. We

have not had any winter tournaments because of the cold but on the warm days there has been some down fishing and they are getting a lot of small fish which is good, cause when Spring gets here they will be bigger and the right size. Sauger fishing has been good when the water has been right. With all the snow and rain the
East Fork Fishing & Hunting Report river has been up alot this winter. Hunting season runs out January 31 with rabbit runs till February 28 and then everyone hoping for a great fishing season. We all need it. A lot of people got cabin fever. Lets all make 2014 a great year for all. Until next time good fishing and hunting to all.

BAIT: Minnows or waxworms for crappies; waxworms, redworms, or mealworms for bluegill or sunfish; nightcrawlers, cut baits, and chicken livers for channel catfish; softcraws for small mouth bass; and minnows or nightcrawlers for large-mouth bass. Artificial bait works well, too.

Brand New Life Jacket Loaner Program!
Boating at William H. Harsha Lake has just gotten a little bit safer because the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has teamed up with BoatUS Foundation to offer life jackets for temporary loan. Let's say you have guests for the weekend. You want to take them out on the lake, but they do not have life jackets. Just call our office at 513-797-6081 to request a loan and stop by between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm to pick up a life jacket on loan for the day or weekend. After a day on the water, just drop off the jacket at the Visitor Center. This program will run from May 1 through the end of September.
Special Children's Programs
Attention children aged 8-12: Join Junior Rangers! Attend a 4-day series of programs and hands-on activities centered on the Corps Missions of Water, Resource Management, Environmental Protection and Recreation. Topics vary each year and may include Avian Adventures, Bug Safari, Wet and Wild, River Critters, Awesome Animals, Dam Builders, Geology Rocks, Woodland Warriors, or Tremendous Trees, plus Ranger Ready. Attend all sessions to earn the highly-coveted Junior Ranger patch. Call the Ranger at (513) 797-6081 for this year’s topics, dates and registration information.

Generations of anglers began fishing as kids by using simple canepole rigs. Some even used a long stick, a piece of string, a cork, and a fish hook. Today, basic fishing equipment is more sophisticated, but still easy to use. Here is what you will need as a beginner learning the fundamentals:
