Boar’s Head Report Mike Arnold, Owner 724-1211 Howdy Everyone, Winter is here and we had some great extra fishing days and the fishing has been great.
We had one winter tournament and it took 8.57 lb. to win. 8.42 for second and this is with a 7 fish limit so that over a 1 lb a fish each, thats some great fish. The depth has been from 2 feet to 24 feet and the water temperature has been in the mid 40 deg. range. Minnows, waxworm, tubes and grub have been the baits to use. Duck hunters have been out and getting some ducks and geese, but the wather has been warm, so it slows them down, they need time for the pond to freeze. Deer hunting has been slow this year, the numbers are down for the year so far and it looks to stay that way. Many
things could have caused this, the weather, getting the crops out late this year, all the rain we have had or just that they are hiding better. Who really knows, but the numbers are down. There is still time, the season ends on February 5th. Thank you and always think safety, wear your life jacket and hunter orange so you can be seen. Until next time - good hunting and fishing to all!

Because 95% of the flea population in your home is made up of eggs, pupae, and wormlike larvae, the only way to stop infestations and prevent new ones from occurring is to break the flea life cycle at an immature stage. “Call us so we can help you prevent or treat flea infestation.”

RODS and REELS: For most young anglers, a 5 to 5 1/2 foot, light action fishing rod with a spincasting reel.
baiT: Minnows or waxworms for crappies; waxworms, redworms, or mealworms for bluegill or sunfish; nightcrawlers, cut baits, and chicken livers for channel catfish; softcraws for small mouth bass; and minnows or nightcrawlers for large-mouth bass. Artificial bait works well, too.

Generations of anglers began fishing as kids by using simple canepole rigs. Some even used a long stick, a piece of string, a cork, and a fish hook. Today, basic fishing equipment is more sophisticated, but still easy to use. Here is what you will need as a beginner learning the fundamentals:
LiNE: Light monofilament line of 4 to 6 pound test strength. SiNKERS: One or two pieces of split shot placed 4 to 6 inches above the hook will keep bait suspended at the proper depth.
