Recovery is a journey. As those who have traveled the road point out: “You cannot start over, but you can start fresh.� Reclaim your life.
Because recovery is an ongoing journey, those completing the program are encouraged to attend weekly/monthly support groups. Survivors can also serve as mentors, teaching and modeling the reality that healthy humans treat each other with respect, thoughtfulness, and dignity.

Fresh Start
Sexual Abuse or Assault Victims Treatment Program Fresh Start is a mental health out patient, community-based recovery program designed to help victims of sexual abuse or assault re-gain control over their abuse and increase positive, healthy social interactions with peers and adults. Comprehensive mental health treatment is offered to both males and females ages 5 through adulthood, including cognitively impaired and adult survivors of abuse.

Comprehensive, compassionate treatment is offered to both males and females ages 5 through adulthood, including those cognitively impaired and adult survivors of abuse.
The program also addresses other pertinent issues, including:
Admission Prior to admission, a state of the art mental health diagnostic assessment is completed to determine if Fresh Start services and treatment would be beneficial.
Sleeping and eating disorders
Inability to function at school or work
Low self-esteem
Substance abuse and chemical dependency issues
Isolation
Disintegration of relationships
Depression
Behavior disorders
Emotional disorders
Confusion over sexual identity
While each plan is unique, treatment is generally offered over a year’s time, and involves three general steps to:

Come to terms with, and gain control over the traumatic experience through play therapy.
Identify stressors and manage responses.
Reconnect with safe, healthy relationships, and enjoy natural, meaningful interactions.

Treatment Fresh Start offers a safe place for victims to reclaim their lives. Staff utilize age-appropriate mental health diagnostic and assessment tools to understand the presence, nature, and extent of the individual’s issues and needs, then create a individual comprehensive treatment plan to address those needs. Treatment also serves the individual’s family, partners, and parents.
These steps are attained through program experiences including individual psychotherapy, peer, family psychotherapy, play therapy and groups such as social and human sexuality.
Sexual assault is a most intimate violation. The trauma can overwhelm victims as well as their families, parents, and partners. However, through the Fresh Start Program there is hope and help for recovery. Fresh Start is essentially a voyage of discovery, not unlike the classical odyssey. “I traversed landscape, encountering monsters and heroes.” Those who come to Fresh Start have already encountered the monster. Throughout the voyage they will encounter many heroes, including themselves. Fresh Start is a place where victims become survivors, and survivors learn to thrive and reclaim their lives .
Aftercare Clients who have completed the program are advised on participating in aftercare support groups. The groups will be offered if a client meets criteria and availability.
