My Classic Car show to film at the 2013 Pumpkin Run Nationals The My Classic Car television show, which appears on the Fox Sports 1 and MAVTV cable networks will be filming at the 2013 Pumpkin Run Nationals. The Pumpkin Run Nationals, the largest car show in southwest Ohio, draws an average of 2,800 vintage automobiles from the local area, the region, and from as far away as Florida and Canada. Show host Dennis Gage will be on the fairgrounds filming for the show on Saturday, Oct. 5. Fastiques board member Tanya Beaumont says has been working on getting Gage to the Pumpkin Run for several years. “I’ve been requesting that Gage come to our show for several years now,” Beaumont said. “He’s done some of the biggest shows ever. Car enthusiasts are really familiar with his program.” The Pumpkin Run Nationals is the signature event of the Fastiques Rod and Custom car club, based in Owensville. But while the Pumpkin Run Nationals is the region’s largest car show, it is also a family-friendly event, with something for every member of the family. “We have a little bit of something for everybody,” Fastiques president Dan Gavey said. “We’ve got about 2,600 vintage cars, things for

the kids, rafts for the ladies, and we’ve got lots of food.” There will be live music, a dance contest and social dances, and church services will be held Sunday morning. There will be plenty of great food, from hot dogs and hamburgers to pulled pork and much more. Proceeds from the Pumpkin Run are always donated to charity. Each year, the club donates $50,000 to Shriners Burns Hospital for Children and makes additional contributions to other charities, such as St. Rita’s School for the Deaf and the Clermont County Homeless Shelter. In the 37 years that the event has been held, the club has donated approximately $800,000 to Shriner’s Burns Hospital alone. On Friday, the show car gate opens at 6:30 a.m. and the show closes at 11 p.m. On Saturday the show car gate opens at 8 a.m. and the show closes at midnight. The show car gate opens at 8 a.m. Sunday and the show closes at 3 p.m. Admission to the Pumpkin Run Nationals is also family-friendly, with adult tickets only $5 and children under 12 free. Fastiques makes donations at Awards and Appreciation Banquet

The Fastiques Rod & Custom Car Club donated $50,000 to Shriners Burns Hospital after the 2012 Pumpkin Run Nationals. The club has donated more than $800,000 to the hospital in the 37 years the annual car show has been held.

The Fastiques Rod & Custom Car Club held its annual Awards and Appreciation Banquet Dec. 2 2012 at the Fastiques Building on the Clermont County Fairgrounds. The club hosts this event each year to thank the many volunteers that help make The Pumpkin Run Nationals a growing success, in addition to showing appreciation to supporters. Fastiques presented donations to various charities. Among the recipients were Shriner’s Burn Hospital

for Children, receiving $50,000, which brings the total in donations from the club to the hospital to more than $800,000. Other notable charities receiving donations from the club in 2012 are – The Earth Angel Foundation (a program that grants a wish to terminally ill children) and The Hillbilly Clan (which provides assistance to crippled children), St. Rita’s School for the Deaf and the Clermont County Homeless Shelter.

Stricker Auto Parts and Service "Where we do it best for you" Stricker is an old family name here in the BataviaOwensville area. Nearly six decades ago, the Stricker Auto Parts and Service story started with Joe and Dorothy Stricker, their three sons Art, Joe, and John, and the family farm. With the support of family and a few friends Papa Joe and Art started buying and selling vehicles and auto parts. Sometimes it may have meant buying one vehicle, parting it out and selling it just to have the

money to buy the next one. That's how it was back in the early days, when nothing got done the easy way. If you wanted something, you had to work for it. Back then, there were no rollbacks, car lifts, or electric hoists. There weren't even impact wrenches – everything was done by hand, hard work and heavy labor. Some area natives may remember those days way back when. In time, the business grew.

It wasn't quite all hard work for the business side, because the Stricker family also liked to race! They took racing as seriously as working and were very good at it. Brother Joe loved to drive, and he also new how to build a great motor. There were years when they had dual race cars and were lucky to have other great drivers driving. In 1972, their car won the championship at the old Tri County Speedway with driver Bruce Gould. They even ventured into the ARCA circuit and had more than their share of wins there. But in 1971, at Eldora Speedway, the "Stricker" car won the prestigious race called the "World 100." John Stricker also won the Pumpkin Run many years ago with his own 1967 Shelby Mustang GT

Earth Angel Foundation - 27 years of helping ill children 1987 - 2013 Our history.... Hundreds of vehicles, all types of weather, and over 180+ children and their families later, the Earth Angel Super Cruise-In and Car Show just keeps growing and growing and growing... The Earth Angel founder, Denny Erwin, along with two central Ohio car clubs, the Corvettes of Lancaster and the Mid-Ohio Cruisers, joined forces to send terminally ill children on dream vacations to any destination within the continental United States. The year was 1987. The first Super Cruise drew 500 vehicles for that first 60-mile caravan-style car cruise from Lancaster to Marysville. Stretching along the highway form miles,t he annual event was officially launched, and two families were able to take dream vacations from money raised. Each year more vehicles have turned out for this oneday event of fun, games, crafts, laughs, music and a variety of entertainment. The weather has treated participants to several chal-

lenges. One year we could boast of beautiful weather, another year a record heat wave blasted participants, then there was the rainy year, and the super windy year, but nothing has dampened the enthusiasm of the organizers or the participants. To date, we have sent over 180+ children and their families on those very special dream vacations. None of this would have been possible without the support of the cruisers, corporate sponsors, the businesses, car enthusiasts and individuals who work to make this a success. As the event continues to grow, we realize we need more space, and we have chosen to have a one day event at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds, in Lancaster, Ohio. For the first fourteen years we were very fortunate not to have any major problems with our procession that we originally started with. Due to possible liabilities we discontinued the cruise; however we have many events at the Fairfield

Like any hard working service dog, Ironlite goes to one of his parents, Tim or Lora, to give a warning there is something wrong with Trae. Good dog, Ironlite. Never in a million years did this whole family dream they would go on an out-of-state vacation and their first airplane flight. Thanks to the Earth Angel Foundation, the whole family - Tim, Lora, Trae and 3-year-old Timothy - took a week’s vacation they wont’ forget for a very long time. • Because of space limitations, no trailers or camping are permitted. We regret these restrictions, but in the interest of allowing more cars to participate in a limited space, we must insist. • All trailered cars must be off trailers before entering the fairgrounds. No show cars allowed on the grounds until 6:30 a.m. Friday morning except those belonging to Fastiques members and registred volunteers. • No tents may be set up until 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. • Golf Carts for HANDICAPPED must register at Locust St. gate. Must have proof of liability. • No Motorcycles, bicycles or scooters are allowed on the fairgrounds during the event for any reason. • Easy Street Speed & Kustoms offers Pumpkin Run registered show participants the option to park trailers on their lot at no charge.

State Farm in Batavia a top performer in the state The State Farm insurance agency located at 1014 Hospital Drive in Batavia opened its doors in January of this year. Agent Jeff Knight said that the thoroughness and completeness that he and his staff strive for has fueled the agency’s amazing growth. The agency is now in the top five percent of all State Farm agencies in the state. “We are doing great,”
