Genealogy Clinics
Informal sessions offer help from expert volunteers and Library staff. For beginners: volunteers provide informal instruction in starting your family history/genealogy. For more advanced researchers: volunteers and library staff draw on their extensive experience to help you answer your genealogy questions and plan strategies to move your research forward. Beginners are encouraged to arrive by 10:45 to take advantage of group instruction for beginners. All others may arrive at any time between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..

The Seed Library
In collaboration with the Cleveland Seed Bank, the Seed Library at Cleveland Public Library strive to preserve biodiversity and to promote local, heirloom varieties of plants. The Seed Library allows you to “check out” a packet of heirloom seeds, grow your own heritage vegetables or flowers, save seeds from the best plants, and then lend them to a friend or neighbor, participate in a “seed swap,” or use them yourself next year. Have a legal question? Need to chat with an attorney about a problem related to money, housing, family, employment or other issues? Stop by a Legal Aid Brief Advice and Referral Clinic.
All clinics are first come, first served free advice and referral events for people with low-income who have civil legal issues. Please bring all relevant paperwork with you. Attorneys are available for brief advice and referral only. Advice clinic attorneys do NOT represent you. If you need legal representation you may be referred to The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland or another service provider.

Housing Court Partnership
South Branch
A computer kiosk is available for patrons who need to appear before Cleveland Housing Court. Allowing security and convenience to those facing eviction or other hearings.
Additional kiosks will be located at Carnegie West, Glenville, and Mt. Pleasant. These kiosks are funded by a grant from the Ohio Supreme Court. Through this partnership, the Library seeks to expand access to services that Clevelanders need and to help bridge the digital divide.

Free Family Meals
A variety of FREE meal packages are available at neighborhood branches through a partnership with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Contact your neighborhood branch for details, times, and availability.
Kids’ Café
Nutritious after-school meals for kids and teens, ages 18 and under. All branches and Youth Services, Main Library, 4th floor
Backpack Meals
Available at select locations: a two-day supply of meals, including two breakfasts, two entrees, and two snacks, for youth ages 18 and under.

Cleveland Digital Public Library

Books By Mail
Can’t make it to the Library? Let us bring the Library to you. Cleveland Public Library users may receive their favorite books and movies at home by mail. Several programs are available:
Homebound Service is available for eligible seniors and people with disabilities.
Words on Wheels is a FREE service is available to adult residents of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, which includes Cleveland, Bratenahl, Newburgh Heights, and Linndale. For more information on Homebound Service and Words on Wheels, visit cpl.org/books-by-mail.
Interlibrary Loan
Patrons may borrow books or microfilm and order photocopies of journal articles that are not available through our subscription databases or the regional CLEVNET library system. Some restrictions apply. For more information email interlibrary.loan1@cpl.org or call (216) 623-2901.
Ohio Library For The Blind And Print Disabled
The Ohio Library for the Blind and Print Disabled provides free library services of braille and audio materials for kids, teens, and adults. Library Cards
Library cards are available to adults, children, and teens who reside, work, or attend an educational institution in the State of Ohio.
NEW!
Bar-coded Cleveland Metropolitan School District student IDs and RTA passes now double as Cleveland Public Library cards, allowing students to check out books and access other library materials and resources.
Special Scholar Success Library Cards are available to young people age 17 and under.
eCards are available for access to electronic resources such as ebooks, emedia, research databases, etc. Apply online at cpl.org.
Educator Cards are available to teachers in schools or licensed childcare centers.
