To Whom It May Concern: I am currently working as an architectural intern for MulvannyG2 Architecture and looking for an opportunity to further my career in Interior Design and Architecture at a successful design firm. I graduated last spring of 2012 from the University of Oregon, earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree with a minor in Art History and since then have worked diligently to find that my true interest lies in shaping beautiful and inspiring interiors. My work in the last year at MG2 has been eye-opening, and has provided me with knowledge and experience in the field, as well as shown me my clear passion and talent related to interior design. I worked on the Target Canada projects for the first portion of my time, producing construction documents, design development, and corresponding with consultants. I was fortunate enough to work on a few design competitions for a shopping development center in Oakland, CA and a gas station re-design for Phillips 66, where I was able to produce exciting visual graphics and creative design presentations. Since January of 2013, I have started working alongside our lead interior designer on a Nursing Home Development, a shopping mall proposal in Guilin, China, and a few specialty health and dental facilities. I have gained a great amount of exposure to the design process and increased my abilities to produce clear, detailed, and compelling project drawings as well as build up a confidence to work efficiently and collaboratively with others in the field. Prior to MG2, I spent every summer and winter break working for a small firm, MAD Architecture in Sonoma County, California. I assisted in many 3D modeling and producing drawings, presentations, and material boards for residential, healthcare, library, art museum, and office projects. Most of the work was interior focused, and I enjoyed the chance to see project work at such a detailed level. This is where I found my love for color, space, lighting, materials, and the way rooms are shaped by the parts and pieces. Driven by a strong passion for interior design, I believe I would make a great addition in assisting in the development of future projects throughout the city of Portland. I have skills in computer technology drafting and design as well as hand media, which allow me to produce drawings and documents at all stages of the design process. I take pride in being a hard-working, focused individual who dedicates a great deal of effort towards achieving the goals each project sets out for. Sincerely, Christine Holmes

Architectural Grillwork

This design competition was for a shopping center in Oakland, California where the client asked for elevation studies with an overall design theme. I worked with another staff member to re-build a SketchUp model and to create a series of elevations with color options and design detailing. The focus of the design was “classic elegance in this upscale retail center. Software: SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop Team: Principal Architect, Associate + me

Interior Design Presentation: Cedar Sinai Nursing Home Portland, OR I worked on a large nursing home development project for a majority of my time at MG2, producing construction document drawings. For part of this time, I worked with our principal interior designer to put together the interior presentation. The intent was to create a mix of cooler and warmer tones to keep the facility less clinical and more homelike for the residents. Design Competition: Phillip’s 66 Gas Station Re-Design Even as an unconventional building type, this re-design competition of the Phillip’s 66 gas station turned out to be a compelling architectural statement for design on the highways. All over the U.S. we travel by car, stopping every few hours for a break, and the gas station prototype is a great way to make-over the world with inspiring designs. The gas station we proposed would serve as a “neighborhood stop” with a lemonade drive-thru and plenty of outdoor seating. The warm colors of woods, yellows, and whites would complement a friendlier environment. Software: SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop Team: Principal Design Architect + me

Interior Design Presentation: Health Specialty Pharmacy This specialty pharmacy is a project that will include a large pharmacy area for employees, training center, conference room, break, offices, and a large lobby for visitors. The focus of the design was to use cool, high-tech materials like metals and glass for a clean look, and to pop in warmer colors through the wood flooring and yellow lighting accents.
