Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe were onsite in Fort Worth throughout the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, waiting in the wings to meet competitors as they came off stage to cheer them on and capture their impressions and emotions just after each performance. The result was a host of endearing, funny, and insightful moments, which the Duo edited together to premiere, along with new insightful, charming commentary and performance montages, on five Tuesdays this spring.

Van

February 27, 2023 marked 10 years since Van Cliburn passed away. Though we all still mourn the loss of his inspired, supportive, and magnanimous spirit among us, we are constantly thankful to have such a powerful vision to solidly steer the Cliburn, even as it grows and evolves to serve artists and reach large audiences in today’s world. On that day, we paid tribute to his extraordinary legacy as a musician with this 1958 video of his performance of the Schumann–Liszt Widmung.

In September 2022, our 2001 gold medalist performed Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the DSO and Principal Guest Conductor Gemma New at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Through our strong partnership with the orchestra, we are proud to be able to share this full recording of the piece with the Cliburn audiences.
