Calling #lestweforget
College Principal “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” - Ecclesiastes 3 v 1 A sense of ‘quietness’ has descended on the school as the Grade 7 boys and the entire College write examinations. This is an important time when academics is the focus and boys are given an opportunity to show what they have learnt over the course of the year.
These words from an email which did the rounds some time ago fit in with the message of love given by the Reverend Meyer earlier this week and also with the times that we live in. *Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

News bits...
The Grade 8 boys performed their practical Drama examinations this week in the Sutcliffe Theatre. The ‘Red Ants’ and Grade 1 boys were the perfect audience for the Children’s Theatre productions of ‘Fairy Tales’. The Grade 8 performers had loads of fun and thoroughly enjoyed having such a happy and responsive audience joining them!
LEFT: Mr Knowles enjoyed a visit from the Grade R ‘Baker-Baker’ and Birthday Boy who dropped by his office to share a sweet treat with him.
The Grade R boys have been learning about dinosaurs and got to be Palaeontologists this week, carefully digging up some dinosaur fossils. Wow! What have you uncovered there?
Some of our boys were lucky enough to see the victorious Springbok team during their parade through Durban last week. The Grade 2 boys stopped in at the Blue Waters Hotel after their excursion to the Pinetown Gym, while Grade 5 boys, Tom Twiss and Ross Ferguson were in the crowds along the street. They were interviewed and featured on national TV giving their opinions of the team!
Yahya Ballim (Grade 6) has been selected as a member of the 2019 KZN U14A Chess Youth Squad. He will be participating in the South African Junior Chess Championships in Johannesburg in January 2020. Well done, Yahya! This is a fantastic achievement and we wish you well for the Championships.
In Grade R isiZulu is taught using fun songs, rhymes and dances. Being a boys’ school, our staff adapt teaching methods to suit the way boys learn. Using music and movement is always a hit with the boys!
Well done to the Prep and College Orchestra’s who performed live on air at the East Coast Radio studio last week. They played beautifully and are to be commended on the way they carried themselves and represented our school. Unfortunately the live broadcast was interrupted by technical problems at the studio, however listeners and the DJ’s and staff who were there loved the performances. Well done to our Clifton Music Department!
ONE BOX FILLED ALREADY! A REMINDER: The ECR Toy Story collection is ongoing. Toys donated should be brand new and preferably chosen by your son. (Please don’t wrap them as they will need to be sorted at the collection point). The boys may leave them with their teachers until we get a new box from East Coast Radio.
