Concept statement

Our relationship with ceramic objects is constantly defined by either function or aesth etic value. Usually we expect one or the other. Mountain side explores the duality of our interaction with ceramic objects, applying both aesthetic and functional characteristics to the work. Our interraction with ceramic objects on a daily basis is often instant and recognisable. Our use of tableware, pots etc is based on tradition and familiarity of shape. Similarly, the familiar shape structures in this piece involves the displacement of a natural shapes in the ceramic landscape of our homes.
