Clarinet Studio Curriculum of Studies Dr. Douglas Monroe, Assistant Professor of Clarinet
This curriculum of studies stands as a representative of materials presented at various levels of development. There are many different etudes, orchestral studies, chamber music and solo pieces that can serve a student’s needs along the road to musical mastery. The overriding decision on a student’s materials depends largely upon their previous training and present needs in order to achieve mastery of expression on the clarinet.
NON-MUSIC MAJOR or BRIDGE TO MUSIC MAJOR NDSU offers private study on all instruments for non-music majors. Non-majors may be very advanced or in need of basic fundamentals. This section assumes a student who is in need of some basic fundamentals. The more advanced non-major will study materials at their specific skill level. If a student wishes to pursue a music major and is deficient in fundamental areas of development, this section will serve as a bridge to the more advanced levels.
