Ένας νομός κυρίως ορεινός και ημιορεινός, με στιβαρούς ορεινούς όγκους, όπως ο Γράμμος, το Βίτσι και το Βόιο, να τον περιβάλλουν. Ο Nομός Καστοριάς, με πρωτεύουσα την ομώνυμη πόλη, απλώνεται στο δυτικό άκρο της Περιφέρειας μεταξύ των Νομών Φλώρινας, Γρεβενών, Κοζάνης και Ιωαννίνων, ενώ στη δυτική πλευρά συνορεύει με την Αλβανία. Στα πεδινά εντοπίζεται και η πλειονότητα των κατοικήσιμων περιοχών, αλλά και οι βιοτεχνικές μονάδες ενασχόλησης με τη γούνα, οι ξενοδοχειακές υπηρεσίες και η γεωργική παραγωγή. Σήμερα, τα σημαντικότερα αστικά κέντρα του νομού είναι η Καστοριά, το Άργος Ορεστικό, το Νεστόριο, οι Μανιάκοι και η Μεσοποταμία.

It is a mostly mountainous and semi-mountainous prefecture surrounded by solid mountain masses, such as Grammos, Vitsi and Voio. In fact, these mountains present an environment of exceptional natural beauty, which is full of souvenirs of historical and cultural heritage, as well as landscapes of naturalistic interest. The Prefecture of Kastoria, whose capital is the homonymous city, stretches at the western end of the region between the Prefectures of Florina, Grevena, Kozani and Ioannina, while on the western side it borders Albania. The majority of habitable areas is located in the lowlands, as well as the craft units dealing with fur, hotel services and agricultural production. Today, the most important urban centers of the prefecture are Kastoria, Argos Orestiko, Nestorio, Maniakoi and Mesopotamia.

Κινηματογραφικά σκηνικά βγαλμένα από τις ταινίες του Παντελή Βούλγαρη και του Θεόδωρου Αγγελόπουλου είναι τα Κορέστεια, εγκαταλελειμμένα χωριά, στις πλαγιές του Γράμμου, με τα χαρακτηριστικά πλίνθινα σπίτια, τα οποία αξίζει να τριγυρίσετε.

Ο Δήμος Άργους Ορεστικού, με ιστορία που ξεκινά από το αρχαίο βασίλειο της Ορεστίδος, περνά από τη Διοκλητιανούπολη των Ρωμαϊκών Χρόνων και καταλήγει στη νεότερη Μακεδονία, είναι σίγουρο ότι διαθέτει όλα εκείνα τα στοιχεία που θα σας κάνουν να τον αγαπήσετε.

Ο Δήμος εκτείνεται στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο της περιφερειακής ενότη- τας Καστοριάς σε υψόμετρο 660μ και αποτελεί τον δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο σε μέγεθος. Θεωρείται κοιτίδα του αρχαίου μακεδονικού κράτους και κέντρο του φύλου των Ορεστών του 7ου αι. π.Χ., ενώ σύμφωνα με την έναν σύγχρονο οικισμό που εξακολουθεί να εξελίσσεται χάρη στο μεγάλο αρχαιολογικό ενδιαφέρον που παρουσιάζει αλλά και στον πρωτογενή τομέα της περιοχής.

The Municipality of Argos Orestiko has a history that starts from the ancient kingdom of Orestis, passes through the Diocletianoupolis of the Roman period, and ends up in the modern era of Macedonia; it is therefore certain that it features all those elements that will make you love it.

The Μunicipality stretches across the south-eastern edge of the regional unit of Kastoria at an altitude of 660m and it is the second largest municipality. It is considered the cradle of the ancient Macedonian state and the core of the Orestae tribe of the 7th century B.C., while according to tradition it was named after Orestes, who fled into the area after murdering his father Agamemnon.

The city of Argos Orestiko was built in the 15th century A.D. and it has experienced significant growth since then. Nowadays, it is a modern settlement that continues to evolve thanks to the great archaeological interest it displays and due to the area’s primary sector of production.

Its growth is also reinforced by the fact that Argos Orestiko has been generously endowed with nature, since the River Aliakmon runs through it, and the surrounding habitat hides forests with routes and waterfalls that fascinate the visitors. This beauty is complemented by scattered architectural monuments, as well as its centuries-old history reflected upon every corner of the city and the surrounding settlements.

The picturesque cityscape will impress you with its beautiful neighborhoods, which preserve the neoclassical architectural style of their houses. Παρασκευής στο Άργος Ορεστικό.

Η περιπλάνηση συνεχίζεται στον πεζόδρομο, ακολουθώντας την οδό Διοικητηρίου, όπου θα νιώσετε τον παλμό της πόλης να χτυπά σε έντονους ρυθμούς, αφού εκεί βρίσκεται η καρδιά της διασκέδασης και της νυχτερινής ζωής.

Η γνωριμία όμως με την περιοχή, δεν σταματά, καθώς οι τριάντα γειτονικοί οικισμοί κλέβουν την παράσταση. Θα φτάσετε σε αυτούς μέσα από μοναδικές διαδρομές στη φύση. Ένας από αυτούς είναι και το Βογατσικό, τόπος καταγωγής της οικογένειας Δραγούμη, αλλά και το χωριό Νόστιμο, παγκοσμίως γνωστό για το απολιθωμένο δάσος του, καθώς και για το Μουσείο Παλαιοντολογίας και Παλαιοβοτανικής.

Μια αναζωογονητική εμπειρία θα βιώσετε στα ιαματικά λουτρά στο χωριό Αμμουδάρα από το οποίο περνά ο ποταμός Αλιάκμονας. However, your acquaintance with the region does not stop there, as the thirty neighboring settlements will also enchant you. You will reach them through unique routes in nature. One of them is Vogatsiko, the birthplace of the Dragoumi family, but also the village of Nostimo, globally known for its Fossilized Forest, as well as for the Museum of Paleontology and Paleobotany.

The thermal baths in the village of Ammoudara, through which passes the River Aliakmon can also offer a refreshing experience. The volcanic subsoil created sulfurous springs with healing properties in an idyllic location with willows, poplars and plane trees.

Another unique experience relates to the culinary tradition of the region. Ένας θεσμός τετρακοσίων ετών που συγκεντρώνει το ενδιαφέρον χιλιάδων εκθετών και επισκεπτών από την Ελλάδα και τις γειτονικές χώρες και πραγματοποιείται την τελευταία εβδομάδα του Σεπτέμβρη. Ο Δήμος Άργους Ορεστικού αποτελεί ένα σύγχρονο αστικό κέντρο με χωριά που διατηρούν αναλλοίωτο τον χαρακτήρα τους, αλλά και με of the dishes of the local cuisine.
