Museum on city agenda City of Surrey to re-focus on phase II of the Surrey Museum By Jennifer Lang Phase two of the Surrey Museum is back on the city’s radar screen. Surrey City council has agreed move forward with the second phase of the museum, allaying fears that the project had stalled. In doing so, council acted on the city’s draft Cultural Plan, which recommends completing phase two to meet growing demand. The city will now develop a concept plan for phase two, including a phasing strategy, using a reserve fund of $450,000 that’s been set aside for the past several years. The reserve fund consists of $250,000 from the Friends of the Surrey Museum and Archives Society and $200,000 from the City of Surrey, matching funds it put forward after the society raised $1.6 million to build the new museum – now a centrepiece of downtown Cloverdale. Last week’s announcement is encouraging news for the Friends of the Surrey Museum Society. In November

Halloween is for helping

Project Equal club members are helping spearhead a campaign for the Surrey Food Bank this Monday, when 150 students from Clayton Heights Secondary will be collecting non-perishable food donations from local residents. 2010, the board sent a delegation to city hall, reminding council of the $450,00 held in reserve and of council’s 2003 promise to complete phase two within 10 years. When the second phase wasn’t included in the Build Surrey program, a plan outlining capital projects, the project appeared to have stalled, board member Sharon Shilliday wrote in a Sept. 18 letter to Mayor Dianne Watts. Worried that the project wouldn’t see completion by the target date of 2013, members began actively lobbying city council. The museum completed seven years ago is 24,000 square feet in size – less than half of the original proposal, which called for a 60,000-square-foot facility. Due to cost constraints, the project was scaled back on the understanding that the second phase would follow within a decade. The building’s east wall has been constructed with that plan in mind. He sees dead people By Jennifer Lang If October 31 is the night when the separation between the human and spirit worlds is thinnest, it would be fair to say every day is Halloween for someone like Rick Pedersen. The 44-year-old Surrey resident is a paranormal investigator – and a medium. “Actually, I’m an extra large,” he says, breaking into a gigantic grin as he refers to his imposing frame. He’s the founder of the Society for Paranormal Incident

Research Investigation Team, or SPIRIT BC, which aims to bring understanding to paranormal phenomena. The group, which includes his wife, Paula, has helped sort out a number of local hauntings, as well as perform investigations across the Lower Mainland. Their mission is to help people. That’s why they don’t charge for investigations. “I don’t have all the right answers,” he says. “Nobody has all the right answers. I want to know

what’s going on.” Paula fields the phone calls from prospective clients before heading out on investigations, which blend Rick Pedersen’s psychic abilities with the technical side of modern ghost-hunting – infrared cameras, EMF meters, audio recorders and other devices. By Jeff Nagel A potentially deadly marine flu virus found on many salmon farms worldwide has now been discovered in wild sockeye salmon off B.C.’s central coast. Infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) has never before been reported off B.C.’s coast but was found in two of 48 sockeye smolts tested recently, according to SFU fishery statistician Rick Routledge.

“It is highly contagious and lethal to Atlantic salmon,” he said, adding the effects on sockeye are unknown. The juvenile sockeye came from Rivers Inlet, about 100 kilometres north of a large concentration of salmon farms off the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. The virus is the European strain of ISA and researchers suspect it came to B.C. through Atlantic salmon eggs imported from areas

“It is highly contagious and lethal to Atlantic salmon...” - Rick Routledge, SFU such as Iceland before infecting wild stocks. “The only plausible explanation I can find is that it came from the fish farms,” Routledge said. The data wasn’t tabled

before the Cohen Commission, which last month heard evidence on the potential threat to sockeye from salmon farms, because the test results only just came back, Routledge said. He tested the batch of underweight fish on the suggestion of biologist Alexandra Morton, who has been at the forefront of anti-aquaculture campaigns and has spent years researching the potential spread of pathogens from fish farms. The B.C. Salmon Farmers Association said it has not yet been able to review the findings and said the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has yet to confirm them. An industry representative said B.C. farmed Atlantic salmon have never tested positive for the virus.

If it has arrived here, he said, it would not likely pose as serious a risk to wild salmon. But Morton said ISAlike symptoms have been reported in B.C. farmed salmon since 2006 and said the virus poses a “cataclysmic biological threat to life” in the North Pacific. “Now we know for sure that it has hit B.C.,” Morton said, who repeated calls to shut down salmon farms here to protect wild stocks. “If there is any hope, we have to turn off the source: Atlantic salmon have to be immediately removed.” ISA can also infect herring and the virus killed millions of salmon at fish farms in Chile a few years ago, devastating the industry there. – Black Press

More space would allow the museum to bring in travelling national exhibits that are too large for the existing exhibit hall – and would increase the amount of storage for Surrey’s historic treasures. The present museum isn’t large enough to host traveling, and there is not enough storage space. The society formed in 2000 to raise money to help build a new home for the Surrey Museum, eventually raising $1.6 million. Founder and 2010 Surrey Civic Treasure Al Cleaver recently told Cloverdale business leaders of the $1.6 million raised by the Friends society, $1 million went to building the new museum, $400,000 went to the endowment fund and $200,000 was handed to the City of Surrey, which allocated another $250,000. On Oct. 17, city councillors agreed to direct staff to refocus capital planning efforts on building the long-promised second phase. The city is also moving forward with plans to build a new arts centre in South Surrey, another project identified as a priority in the draft Cultural Plan. A city staff report says local arts groups endorsed a phased approach, with phase one consisting of a 3,500 to 4,000 square foot expansion to the South Surrey Recreation Centre in 2012. The expansion could house an office for the Semiahmoo Arts Society, a shared meeting room or multipurpose room, pottery and visual arts studio, storage space and more. The South Surrey White Rock Arts Society has likewise raised $250,000 – money it has offered to donate to phase one of the project, in exchange for some free facility use for monthly meetings and art sales. Phase two would consist of a new arts centre to be built on 152 Street in the South Surrey town centre within the next three to five years. It would include a performing arts and visual arts space, instructional and studio areas.

Halloween climbers ‘spit in the face’ of Canada’s veterans To all the parents who let their kids crawl on the war memorial: show some respect To the editor; This is a letter to all the parents that let (or put) their children on the memorial for Surrey’s war dead for the photograph last year for the parade. Have some respect. That is not a bench! It is not a play structure. It is a memorial for our heroes. Every time I look at that photo I grow angry. I so am ashamed that some of my fellow citizens can be so disrespectful. These young men laid down their lives for Canada and you let your children climb on to it, where a soldier is shown kneeling down at a grave of a fellow comrade. You may as well spit in the face of them. I just hope that no veteran or family member saw this photo, and if they did let me apologize on behalf of parents that let their children disrespect your honour. The picture will be taken again this year and I plead with everyone show some respect. DO NOT let your children stand on this Memorial again this year, and before you let your children climb up on it just so they can be seen in the picture. Imagine if your child’s name was one of the names engraved on that statue. Cecilia Thompson Cloverdale

Construction to begin on Cloverdale Station By Jennifer Lang A society of heritage rail enthusiasts says it won’t be long before construction begins on a new home in Cloverdale. The City of Surrey has approved the start of construction on a three-bay car barn and home for the BCER Interurbans currently housed at Sullivan Station. A building permit is expected shortly, the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society’s board of directors announced on their website, www.fvhrs.org, Oct. 14. Earlier this year, the city approved $2.9 million in spending to relocate the society’s operations to historic downtown Cloverdale, site of a heritage rail revival. The FVHR society’s new car ban and replica Cloverdale Station – modeled on the original B.C. Electric Interurban station here – will be built at 5554 176 Street as part of a $6 million project. Once complete, the society will move its operations from Sullivan Station at 64 Avenue and 152 Street, to Cloverdale, where the society plans in May to start testing limited passenger service

currently promoting their In-School Mentoring Program, a flexible volunteer opportunity with a minimal time commitment for both male and female mentors. Volunteers must be 18 or older, and pass a criminal record check. If you’re interested, visit www.bigbrothersvancouver.com.

between the two locations on weekends. Cloverdale was a hub for the Interurban line, an electric railway operating from 1910 to 1950. Cloverdale Station will also be home to the Clover Belle, a vintage 1912 streetcar that’s at the focus of separate restoration efforts by the Cloverdale District

Chamber of Commerce and the Cloverdale Business Improvement Association. Those plans call for a heritage streetcar line up 176 Street from Highway 10 to 58A Avenue. The city recently conducted a survey of local businesses about the impact of introducing a streetcar line in Cloverdale.

Students launch food drive Clayton Heights kids will be going door-to-door on Halloween By Jennifer Lang Stocking up on candies and other goodies for Halloween? If you live near Clayton Heights Secondary, you’re reminded to set aside a donation for the Surrey Food Bank – along with the usual treats for tricksters. On Monday, Oct. 31 from about 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., students will be out collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the food bank from residents of the Clayton and Hillcrest neighbourhoods, as well as homes on 188 Street between the school and Highway 10. If you’re not going to be home, you’re asked to leave donations outside the door in a cloth bag. The students will pick them up.

About 150 students are expected to take part in this year’s Halloween for Hunger campaign. It’s spearheaded by the Project Equal Club at Clayton Heights, says Nalin Dhillon, a Grade 12 student at the school. Helping Surrey’s hungry isn’t just a Halloween thing for the students; the school is consistently the top school contributor to the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper program each December.

He encountered one spirit in South Surrey who was very attached to the property, eventually shouting “Leave me alone!” through another medium. Psychic or not, paranormal investigation necessarily involves countless hours reviewing footage or data, looking for something that correlates with what the team experienced in the field, or to detect anything unusual taking place when the cameras have been left rolling all night long. On a September evening at a local cemetery, his camera captured a series of orbs – spherical images that appear in the frame but weren’t visible to the naked eye. Skeptics say dust close to the lens will show up as an orb, particularly with digital flash photos. Pedersen believes they indicate a spirit about to manifest or an actual spirit. “I believe that the more vibrant they are, that is the actual spirit. In some cases, you can actually see faces in the orbs.” Two months ago, his camera lens captured a face at the Burnaby Art Gallery. Logging onto the Spiritbc.net website, where there’s a photo

gallery of various case files, he points to a picture taken outside. “You can see a little blonde girl’s face. you can see her hair, you can see her eyes.” Inside, he felt someone try to shove him down the stairs. “I refuse to go back.” He’s unaware of haunted buildings in historic Cloverdale, but he knows of at least one home in South Langley that’s “exceptionally” haunted, his former home. “I lasted six months. I had to get out of there. I couldn’t handle it,” says Pedersen, whose resume includes being an auxiliary constable, five years as a civilian instructor with army cadets, as well as sales and marketing experience. Over the past six years, Pedersen has been getting guidance from the Lighthouse Spiritual Centre in downtown Cloverdale. He says it’s become more acceptable to discuss paranormal phenomenon, thanks in large part to the proliferation of TV shows on the subject over the past decade. Even as a kid, he had premonitions. The most intense was when his older sister Barbara was in hospital for routine oral surgery, but something went wrong. They were summoned to the

hospital, in a panic, believing she was dying. On the way there, a voice said, “Tell your mom, Barbara’s fine. When you get to the hospital, she’ll be sitting up in bed, smiling. There will be nothing wrong with her.” When they arrived, it was as the voice described. It turned out the doctor who had called was an alcoholic who was drunk on the job. There’d been no emergency. His mother, now 83, still talks about it. Back then, he thought the voice was god. But now he says it was his spirit guide communicating with him. Pedersen says everyone has the ability to see spirits – much in the same way as everybody can draw, but not everyone is Leonardo da Vinci. “People are stifled as children to dismiss things we can’t explain,” he says. “With training, people can take themselves to many different levels.” He’s continually developing and aspiring to improve. “It’s like anything, you have to practice.” He offers would-be amateur ghost hunters a stern warning: “Some of this stuff can follow you home,” he stresses. “It’s not always good energies.”

Come and Worship Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. - Psalms 28:6 (NIV) Join Bishop Ron Ferris at Church of the Ascension Sundays at 11 A.M.

Potters’ House of Horrors 2011: really going for the jugular.

Inside the gore-fest Shocking, thrilling fans takes months of planning By Jennifer Lang Potter’s House of Horrors is truly one of the biggest, best, Halloween frights around. Now in its 9th year, it’s easily Surrey’s biggest walk-through haunted house, attracting upwards of 15,000 visitors – most of those in the week before Halloween. The 2011 tour of terror boasts 10,000 square feet of dark, twisty hallways leading to gruesome scenes and skinjumping surprises. With attractions like Camp Dread, Seven Gates to Hell, and MedEvil Times, this year’s labyrinth promises to take visitors to new levels of freaky. Think severed heads, bloody body parts, gutted torsos and more. And that’s just one section of hallway. Who knows what awaits around the next corner? Surprising and thrilling the legion of fans returning each year takes months of planning. “We started building the House of Horrors in August,” says Cam Martin, head of the Potter’s Ghoul Crew that stages the horror show. He helms a team of 12 full-time techies, who work nightly along with dozens of actors plus

various venue staff each October. The core group of three or four sits down to brainstorm long before that. “We throw some ideas at the table,” he says. “We kind of put them in a pool and make a shortlist. It’s a consortium of minds.” Martin, who “enjoys a good horror flick,” says it helps to be a horror buff, something he shares in common with the main prop builder, but not essential. The woman who does the decor, for instance, “wouldn’t watch one if you paid her.” The House of Horrors – initially conceived as a way to increase Fall

sales at the greenhouse – has grown from about 700 visitors nine years ago to crowds of 15,000, which gives a sense of how the attraction has evolved and grown in scope and ambition. “We’ve got a talented core of individuals who make it happen.” Potter’s originally hired lighting and audio specialists from outside. But the Ghoul Crew has learned the ropes. The store manager does the sound, mixes the music and creates tracks. He also does all the lighting, using computer software. Martin’s brother Rob, the Monster Tech, has

SUPERSTITIOUS? Halloween Superstitions for Girls and Moms is

! k c o R Z d i K

presented Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Surrey Museum (17710 56A Avenue), from 3 to 4 p.m. for girls aged 8 and up. Enjoy tea and refreshments as you learn about some of the wacky Halloween superstitions of girls of times past used to divine the future and loves. Then try out a few fun Halloween games from the 1920s. Pre-register by calling 604-592-6956. HOTEL HELL... You don’t have to be booked in as a guest this Saturday, when a local hotel hosts its second annual Halloween trick or treat event, before the costume parade. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., trick or treaters will be welcomed inside the Holiday Inn and Suites Surrey to explore spooky rooms, children’s games and activities, plus trick or treating. The ďŹ rst 300 children in costume will be given a free pumpkin, thanks to Realtor Scott Moe. The hotel is located at 17530 64 Avenue. LIL’ PATCH The Lil Pumpkin Patch at Cloverdale Country Farms, located at the corner of 168 Street and Highway 10, is open to Oct. 31. The fun includes a hay bale maze, U-pick pumpkins and, weather permitting, a bouncy castle located inside the maze for the kids. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Cost is $4 per child. (Receive one pumpkin of your choice.) Adult admission is by donation of a nonperishable food item for the Surrey Food Bank.

a cruise-or-walk-by, day or night. There are so many clever touches to appreciate, from the life-sized skeletons scaling up the large tree in the front yard, to the small but scary graveyard, hand-made cutouts of witches and other seasonal decor, blow ups, spiders, bats and gauzy white fabric wafting from the eaves. Look past the caution tape through the front window – there are creepy things lurking inside the home, too. “Honestly, we think Halloween is a lot less stressful than Christmas, key decorator Sherry Denexter explains. It takes about a day to put the display up each year, and another to take it down, an exercise that’s well worth it. Sherry always thinks of the little kids who come around trick or treating each Halloween. “They’re going to remember it when they grow up, she says. “We’re making memories. It’s a visual smorgasbord of scare. Full marks to this one. Sources say the home is also the focus of a charming Christmas display. See HALLOWEEN Page 10

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARADE The 9th annual Cloverdale Halloween Costume Parade, presented alongside Pumpkin Power at the Surrey Museum, promises to be bigger and better than ever. This one’s a favourite with the little ones, especially, and their parents, who can be counted on to dress up too, along with various family pets. It’s a free, supervised trick-or-treat parade to local stores, and it’s loads of family fun. Last year, organizers say about 1,000 children – not including parents and guardians – turned out. And some of them went to a lot of trouble. There was even a pirate ship, complete with two marauding pirates aboard. (Dad pulled the craft along 176 Street.) The fun begins at 12:30 p.m., Saturday at Surrey Museum Plaza, 17710 56A Avenue in Cloverdale. Children meet at Surrey Museum Plaza ďŹ rst for activities and a group photo. Then they’re split into two groups. Then head out on a supervised parade

through downtown Cloverdale, where many local merchants will welcome trick-or-treaters. Half visit businesses on 176 and 176A Streets in the historic town centre and the other half hit the Clover Square Village mall across Highway 10. Registration is from noon to 1:40 p.m., followed by a group picture at 2 p.m. At Pumpkin Power, view, carve and decorate Jack o’ lanterns, make crafts, and eat pumpkin pie (noon to 2 p.m.) at the various activity tables set up. JR FM will be live on the site, along with a coloring contest, hot dogs and drinks by the Cloverdale Lions. Take in the exotic animal exhibit from Cinemazoo Animal Agency and the Urban Safari Rescue Society. The ever popular event is presented by the Cloverdale Business Improvement Association, the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce, and the Surrey Museum. Prizes by random draw (awarded after groups return to the plaza) plus free museum entrance to visitors in costume.

Cloverdale is open for business! Cloverdale is open for business and the construction on the new Brickyard and Safeway sites are cause for celebration as we look to increase the trafďŹ c to our historic town center. The businesses in Cloverdale are very philanthropic and I would

like to say thank you to everyone for a great year of giving and improving the lives of others. I would also like to thank the board of directors for re-electing me as your president for one ďŹ nal year. We have an exciting year ahead with many innovations coming your way. a background in pneumatics, which helps with the animatronics and blow ups. Make-up experts, however, are brought in. They post those jobs in August, and receive a flood of applications. Actors are hired, too. Martin figures there’s between 40 to 60 people working on site each night when the attraction is open. From day one of construction, it takes at least six weeks to put it all together. “It’s very labour intensive,” Martin says, noting they’ve collected a sizable inventory. There are warehouses full of sets and special effects equipment. It’s a big investment for the 72 Avenue garden centre. But it pays off. Halloween is now the second biggest

holiday next to Christmas, says Martin. People really get into it. Potter’s House of Horrors claims to be the scariest walk-through haunt in the province. And it’s the second largest Halloween event in B.C., just behind the PNE’s Fright Nights. Martin checks out his competition, and is familiar with all the local haunted houses, small and big. They’re worth seeing, he says, but Potter’s House of Horrors is number one. “I think with the detail and quality of our show,” he says. “We really try to take them into a different world.” Even the line to get inside (there are no reservations) can feature moments of sheer terror. Their website is creepy, too, with sound effects and lots of cockroaches scattering across

the screen. About that famous line-up. New this year is a Speed Pass, an option that costs more ($25 to $35 depending on what night you go), but allows visitors to skip the long queue, which can be up to an hour. Scaredy-cats and families with small

children are welcome to visit during the first hour each day (starting at 6 p.m.), when the event runs “static”, without actors, and uses a quieter sound system. It’s still scary, but less terrifying than the real thing. The full-on House of Horrors springs to life at 7 p.m. It’s located at 12530 72 Ave., one block west of Kwantlen University’s Surrey campus. It’s open daily from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to Oct. 31. Admission rates vary: From Oct. 14 to 20 and Oct. 23 to 27, it’s $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. The Speed Pass is $25. From Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28 to 31, it’s $17 for adults, $12 for kids under 12, and $35 for a Speed Pass. Visit www.pottershouseofhorrors. com or call 604-572-7706.

Off to China Surrey Board of Trade President Mary Jane Stenberg, who is also the strategic advisor to the president for Kwantlen Polytechnic University, will be traveling to China and to India on the B.C. Premier’s Trade Mission to Asia to build relationships for not only Kwantlen Polytechnic University, but also for the Surrey Board of Trade. The purpose of the premier’s trip to Asia is to boost trade opportunities and spur job creation at home. “This trip will also build on the chamber/board of trade/industry association partnerships and MOUs that the Surrey Board of Trade signed on our trade mission to India in April. This will continue the Surrey Board of Trade’s International commitment on the ground in both China and India,” said Stenberg. The Surrey Board of Trade sent more than 100 delegates to China five years ago on a mission, and 25 delegates to India in April 2011.

HST repeal weighs on construction By Jeff Nagel The province is under pressure to quickly neutralize the impact of the harmonized sales tax on new home buyers in order to save thousands of jobs at risk in the construction industry. The HST is to be eliminated no later than April of 2013, but until then it continues to add seven per cent to the value of new homes over $525,000. The Urban Development Institute wants the province to immediately exempt all new homes from the provincial tax portion so the HST hit is no longer an issue for prospective home buyers who may delay purchases. “We are very concerned that there’s going to be a significant reduction in jobs for the next year, executive director Maureen Enser said. “They’re going to remove the HST eventually so why not make people whole today? Enser estimated at least 2,000 planned home starts have now been shelved since the HST referendum result and many more are likely. Each unit typically represents up to four industry jobs. Even if the province doesn’t expand the rebate to all new homes, she said, business would be better if developers at least knew for certain the rules in the months ahead and the timing of the switch from the 12 per cent HST back to a five per cent GST on new home sales. Pre-sale agreements with buyers are critical to financing many developments but Enser said those contracts are nearly impossible to sign when tax implications are uncertain. Some buyers are waiting until the HST is re-

pealed to purchase and Enser said that may make it harder for developers to liquidate existing units and then reinvest in new projects. “This has been a gong show since day one, said Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association CEO Peter Simpson. He said the impacts go beyond actual builders and renovators to workers in local plants that make components like doors, windows and flooring.

“I don’t the $525,000 think they threshold. have a good More exunderstanding pensive singleof what this family house ripple effect of starts are way fewer housing down, he said. starts is going Simpson to have. said the provAlthough ince could use housing starts short-term Peter Simpson in the region tax credits or are currently run- reduce the Property ning ahead of 2010 Transfer Tax to offset levels, Simpson said the lingering impact of the vast majority of the HST until it is renew construction is pealed. in multi-family units Large renovations are mainly priced under also taxed more under

Urgent repairs like leaky roofs are going ahead, but Simpson said many homeowners will hold off on discretionary work, such as a costly kitchen upgrade. A spokesperson for finance minister Kevin Falcon said no special arrangements are planned for home builders.

the benefits that they were hoping. For some women they have worked at the beginning but then stopped working. For others the herbs have worked for some symptoms but not all of them. These women may benefit from bioidentical hormones. Bio-identical hormones are identical in all aspects and absolutely indistinguishable to the hormones found in the human body. With Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), you are replacing the hormones that your body is low in to levels no greater than what they were when you were younger i.e. back to normal physiological levels. Instead of using hormones that are synthetic or foreign to the body, we want to do true replacement therapy (vs. substitution therapy). You can’t be allergic to your own hormones because…they are your own hormones. When you are substituting with horse estrogens (e.g. Premarin) and synthetic hormones, you are putting yourself at a greater risk for side effects and problems because they are foreign hormones. Our hormones and receptors are like a lock and key and must fit perfectly together to provide the hormone benefits. If the foreign hormone doesn’t fit properly into the receptor you are more likely to see side effects like what we saw in the WHI study which showed greater risks of heart disease and cancer when using synthetic hormones. Herbs do not replace your own hormones. They can act on the receptors to provide a weak effect that might help with your symptoms but for some women the herbs are just not strong enough. Herbs cannot provide the exact identical function of your own hormones and may not provide the same benefits as your own hormones (e.g. preventing bone loss and osteoporosis). Some anti-aging

doctors feel that if you can put the hormones that decline with age back to Lyle Sunada is an experienced compounding younger levels, you may be able to repharmacist specializing in natural hormones. He can tard the aging process. If a woman did be reached at Cloverdale Pharmasave 604-576-2888 not have problems with their hormone or Lyle@CloverdalePharmasave.com levels at that younger age (for a total of 25-30 years), one wouldn’t expect her to have them now. One would expect a lot higher incidence of breast cancers, strokes, heart disease, etc. in women in their 20’s if that were the case. Why would your own hormones at normal physiological levels harm you? BHRT involves going through an expert to sort through the issues that play a role in hormone balancing including stress, thyroid function, and blood sugar regulation. Sometimes it is necessary to test your hormones to figure out what you are low in and how much to take. Many of the hormones like progesterone, estradiol, testosterone, cortisol, DHEA, etc. are best suited to be tested from saliva (vs. blood tests). Bio-identical hormones are generally compounded by a compounding pharmacist and must be prescribed by a physician or naturopath. Talk to a hormone consultant/expert regarding hormone balancing or attend a seminar on Hormone Balancing With Bio-identical Hormone and you may find the next piece of the puzzle Replacement Therapy (BHRT), you are to help the symptoms that couldn’t be helped replacing the hormones that your body with herbal products. is low in to levels no greater than what

they were when you were younger.
