THE “VALLE DEI TEMPLI”

SICILY - From Sirenusa Village LICATA - Half Day Licata is a centre able to offer remarkable cues for a cultural and artistic visit, beginning with its castles: the S. Angelo Castle, the S. Nicola and Gaffe Towers, and the Falconara Castle. Amongst the religious buildings we note: the S. Agostino Church, the Purgatorio Church, The Church of SS. Salvatore and the San Domenico Church (1618). THE “VALLE DEI TEMPLI” - Full Day The Valle dei Templi is situated near the sea and it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and also an important archaeological evidence of ancient Greek civilization. There are seven sacred places whose ruins it is possible to admire. One of these is the Temple of Hera with its rectangular plan and 34 columns, the Temple of Concorde, which is still perfectly preserved, and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. The temples built with tuff stone assume a golden colour in the sunset, creating a surreal landscape. CALTAGIRONE - Full Day A visit to the City passes by the Duomo of S. Giuliano, a Norman building which was reconstructed in the 17th century, in order to reach the Piazza del Municipio (Municipal Square) where you can find the Palazzo Senatorio (15th century). There are many churches in the City, amongst which those of the Cappuccini, of Salvatore and S. Maria del Monte. Caltagirone also offers important visits to museums: the Museo Regionale della Ceramica (Regional Museum of Ceramics), Villa Patti which hosts the Museum of Historic Villas and the Civic Museum. THE “VILLA ROMANA DE CASALE DI PIAZZA ARMERINA - Full Day Dating back to the Roman period, Piazza Armeria is our starting point to begin discovering the Enna province. In its central square, you will see forty splendid and perfectly-preserved mosaics embellishing the grand cathedral. The cathedral is composed of various venues opening out around the main courtyard that sits in the middle of eighteen marble columns or peristyles. The Villa is considered the best example of artwork from the Roman era, and has been proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. RAGUSA - Full Day When visiting the City, the following are recommended: the Ibleo Regional Archaeological Museum which hosts an important collection of ancient finds for different eras: Pre-Historic, Sicula, Greek and Roman. Nearby, it’s possible to visit the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist (18th Century) and S. Maria delle Scale, which connects the two cities like the great bridges connecting Ragusa Superiore (Upper Town) to the Inferiore (Lower Town).One can therefore then visit the Duomo of S. Giorgio (1738) with its Neo-Classical dome.

SARDINIA - From Calaserena Village VILLASIMIUS - Half Day The idyllic beaches and breathtaking landscape of the picturesque former fishing village of Villasimius attract increasing numbers of visitors each summer. You can visit Fortezza Vecchia (the old fortress), which dates from the 17th century, dominates the harbour and is now the scene of art exhibitions organized by an international art centre. Nearby Capo Carbonara affords an lovely panoramic view of the sea. The area features small beaches and coves of every description, as The Villasimius area has been declared as a marine nature preserve, is well known among divers for its rich variety of marine flora and fauna. In Villasimius and the surrounding area there are archaeological remains of Phoenician culture, as well as Roman necropolises.

This is Matera, where the Rupestrian churches and famous Sassi – the very peculiar settlements carved into the rock – were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. A walk through Matera’s historic center will transport visitors back into a past long-forgotten. ALBEROBELLO AND ITS TRULLI - Full Day (from both hotels) The “trulli”, the characteristic cone-roofed houses of Alberobello, make up one of the 47 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy. The name derives from the late Greek word for dome (τρούλος; in Italian, cupola), and refers to the ancient stone houses with conical roofs, constructed with the abundant limestone from the plateau of Apulia’s Murge zone. These impressive and unique structures, are a example of architecture that is spontaneous, yet imperishable; to this day they are still used as homes. Alberobello, an inland village of the Province of Bari, is undoubtedly the Capital of the Trulli: its historic center is integrally constituted by these rather particular white, pyramidal structures that make it so famous and identifiable. OSTUNI - Half Day (from Torreserena Village only) The hilltop town of just over 30,000 people is well worth visiting, thanks to the beautiful scenery on all sides. The view of the city from a distance is breathtaking; the white-washed homes cap the hilltop, juxtaposed with the jagged skyline of domes and towers. Views of the surrounding countryside are astounding, particularly to the east, where the cliffs and beaches of the Adriatic coastline can be clearly seen. Ostuni is known as “the White Town” because all of its buildings are painted white, and there is no end to the beautiful architecture. Pause to take in the stunning view from the top of Corso Vittorio Emmanuele. If the ocean wind is too strong, you can take refuge in the archeological museum or in the duomo. CASTELLANA CAVES - Half Day (from both hotels) The caves of Castellana are by now the biggest complex of caves in Italy, and can be found in the Murgia Area. Formed during the last millennia thanks to the constant leakage of water through the limestone ground, these caves were opened to the public for the first time in 1939. The view that can be enjoyed during a walk through the caves (the longest itinerary is about 3 km) is amazing: stalactites, stalagmites, little lakes, ending in the "white cave" a stunning huge, shiny and scenic room formed only of white stalactites. The "white cave" is considered by most of the experts to be the best in the world. For this reason the caves of Castellana have often been chosen as a location for movies, events and important TV shows. GALLIPOLI 131 km - Full Day (from Grand Hotel Serena only) Gallipoli's Old Town, built on an island now connected to the mainland by a bridge, is picturesque and a nice place to stroll through its maze of alleys. Several interesting churches are along the perimeter of the old town facing the sea. The walls and bastions surrounding the old town are believed to have been built in the 15th century to fend off attacks, especially from pirates. The pretty port is still used by fishing boats and you'll see fishermen mending their colorful nets and houses decorated with fishing baskets. Castello Angiono stands near the entrance to the old town. The current fortress, built on old Byzantine fortifications, probably originated in the 11th century but was altered quite a bit in the 15th century. The Corte Gallo is a surprising little alleyway that looks like an open-air ethnographic museum. . A sandy beach, Spiaggia della Purita, lies on one side of the old town, outside the walls.

CALABRIA - From Sibari Green Village and Serenè Village

SAN PIETRO AND CARLOFORTE - Full Day Panoramic tour of the island and her wonderful beaches for swimming and snorkelling. Excellent beaches, both rocky and sandy, line the coast of the island. Some of the cliff-top views are nothing short of spectacular. On the other side of the island from Carloforte is a functioning lighthouse (Capo Sandalo Lighthouse, now automated), locally known simply as 'il faro' and whose structure dates back to the 1880s.

POLLINO NATIONAL PARK - (From Sibari Green Village only) It was founded in 1992 and includes both natural and archaeological points of interest. The park's symbol is the Bosnian Pine, which here has one of its last remaining growing areas in Italy. ROSSANO AND LIQUORICE FACTORY - Full Day - (From Sibari Green Village only) Rossano looks out over the Ionian Sea….it sits in the hills filled with olive groves. Don’t be confused - there seem to be 3 very different Rossanos: The one at the sea - Lido Sant’Angelo; the inland town - Rossano Scalo; and the original old town - Rossano. Rossano is known as the "Byzantine Pearl of Calabria"….it was a Byzantine empire for centuries and was the birthplace of St. Nilo (a Byzantine monk). According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the best liquorice in the world is the one found in Calabria. In fact, in the stretch between the towns of Roseto Capo Spulico and Cariati, the Liquorice plant grows wild, finding in the clay soils its natural habitat. In Rossano in 1710 the first factory for the production of liquorice was built and today the liquorice of Rossano is exported around the world. PIZZO CALABRO, TROPEA AND CAPO VATICANO - Full Day (from Serenè Village only) Let's take a quick detour north to Pizzo, where Napoleon's ill-fated brother-in-law Joachim Murat was imprisoned and shot in 1815. Not much remains of the infamous castle where he was held, but the town is picturesque, has a fine sandy beach and, for lovers of the extravagant, there is the chiesetta di Piedigrotta, a sanctuary carved into a grotto, with lifesize praying figures. From Pizzo we travel toward Briatico and Tropea. On the horizon is S. Maria dell'Isola, a lovely little 12th-century church set on an island-like promontory. There are still many 16th- and 17th-century family homes here, which look very romantic when illuminated at night. Between Tropea and Nicotera, especially in the areas around Parghelia and Capo Vaticano, the road curves along high above a non-stop succession of beautiful beaches and interesting rocky coves, creating a coastline that many have likened to Big Sur. The water is usually extremely clear. THE CASTELLA - Hal Day ((from Serenè Village only) The castle was fully restored in 2001 and I visited it as part of the SIAFT (Southern Italy Agrifood and Tourism) invitation by the Chamber of Commerce of Crotone. Our guide added some great human stories to the chronicled history.quillace in the province of Crotone To be precised, in Isola di Caporizzuto looking out over the protected marine reserve of the same name. You don't need much imagination to see the Aragonese soldiers locked in combat with Turkish pirates five centuries ago. The main structure dates back to the Angevin period. The giveaway is the cylindrical tower which juts out over the walls. Yet, the ancient Greeks did build some defensive walls in the shallows many years before. Pliny, in his Naturalis Historia, mentions various little islands such as Dioscuri, Calipso, Tiris, Meloessa and Eranusa. These collectively may be the origin of the name Le Castella.

ADRIATIC SEA RIVIERA - From Serena Majestic Hotel THE TRABOCCHI COAST - Full Day The Trabocchi routes stretch from the coast at Francavilla al Mare to Vasto and into the hinterland to places such as Bomba, Mozzagrogna and Filetto. The trabocchi are those characteristic huts built on stilts which hover above the crashing waves of the Adriatic. They were used by local fishermen who, we guess, would practically live in them until they achieved a sufficient catch. The 'camosci' are the shy chamois deer who inhabit the Abruzzo mountains, while the final itinerary opens the visitor's eyes to regional folklore and pagan superstition which is still present. What we do know is that Tollo was an Etruscan settlement before becoming occupied by the Romans, Longobards, Spanish and French. Some classical votives from the area do exist in the Archaeological Museum of Chieti. Perhaps a good time to visit Tollo is the first Sunday of August. The town remembers the day in 1566 when the inhabitants were finally able to defeat marauding Turkish pirates thanks to the appearance of the Madonna del Rosario. The battle is re-enacted every year. TREMITI ISLANDS - Full Day Approximately twelve sea miles from the Northern coast of the Gargano, there are three islands and a number of rock formations which make up the archipelago of the Tremiti islands. The Tremiti islands are now a protected marine reserve, and with their unique environment, in the middle of the blue waters of the Adriatic sea, are the habitat of a wealth of sea life. They are home to an ancient settlement of fishermen who today still speak in Partenopean dialect. The Tremiti islands are made up of the islands of San Nicola, San Domino, and Capraia, this last is uninhabited and covered in Mediterranean vegetation. Your Financial Protection The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 require us to provide security for the monies that you pay for the package holidays booked from us and for your repatriation in the event of our insolvency. We provide this security by way of a bond hold by Unipol Insurance 4131632/A.

1. Your Travel Booking Whether you or your travel agent book we will only deal with the lead booking name in all subsequent correspondence, including changes, amendments and cancellations. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the personal details or any other information supplied in respect of yourself and any other person travelling on the booking and for passing on any information regarding the booking or any changes made in relation thereto, to all persons travelling on such booking, including but not limited to information on schedule changes or copies of booking confirmations. The contractual terms of Our Agreement apply between you and us because you have chosen a Package Holiday with us (hereafter, a “holiday”) which is a ‘package’ within the meaning of The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 and will enjoy the benefits conferred by it. We may transfer your booking to another company within our group, but this will have no effect on your holiday arrangements. Air Passenger Duty, which is payable by all passengers departing from UK airports, is included in the final price of your holiday.

6. Our Responsibility For Your Holiday We will arrange for you to receive the services that make up the holiday that you choose and that we confirm. These services will be provided either directly by us or through independent suppliers contracted by us. We are responsible for making sure that each part of the holiday you book with us is provided to a reasonable standard and as was advertised by us (or as changed and accepted by you). We have taken all reasonable care to make sure that all the services which make up your holiday advertised by us are provided by efficient and reputable businesses. These businesses should follow local standards. However, overseas safety standards are generally lower than in the UK, for example few hotels yet meet EC fire safety recommendations even in Europe.

2. The Price You Pay All prices we advertise are accurate at the date published, but we reserve the right to change any of those prices from time to time. Prices include a cost for fuel that was estimated at the date of this publication. We reserve the right to add a fuel supplement to holiday prices should this increase after the date of this publication. Prices can go up or down. We will be able to tell you or your travel agent the up-to-date price of your chosen travel arrangements and of any other services advertised by us before confirming your booking. We reserve the right to increase the price of your holiday after you have booked but no later than 30 days before the departure date stipulated and will forward an Amendment Invoice reflecting any changes made. After a Confirmation Invoice has been sent to you, any increase to your holiday price will be as the result of changes in our costs of supplying your holiday resulting from transportation charges, (fuel, airport charges, scheduled air fares and other transport charges which form part of our contract with the transport provider), currency fluctuations and government action. If the increase is more than 10% of the holiday price (calculated as above), then You may cancel your holiday booking within 14 days of the Amendment Invoice date and receive a refund of all monies paid to us, we will only consider an appropriate refund of insurance premium paid if you can show us that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy; and

3. If We Change Or Cancel Your Holiday Before Your Departure We hope and expect to be able to provide you with all the services we have confirmed to you at the time of booking. If we have to make a significant change or cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible. If there is time to do so before departure, we will offer you the choice of the following options: 1. Accepting the changed arrangements (for significant changes). 2. Purchasing an alternative holiday from us, of a similar standard to that originally booked if available. 3. Cancelling or accepting the cancellation in which case you will receive a full and quick refund of all monies you have paid to us. Important Note – Events Beyond Our Control Events beyond our control include: war, threat of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist activity and its consequences, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks and pandemics, unavoidable and unforeseeable technical problems with transport for reasons beyond our control or that of our suppliers; closed or congested airports or ports, hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather conditions, and any other similar events. In February 2005 a new Europe-wide law relating to denied boarding, delays and cancellation of flights came into force. This law granted rights to passengers including in certain circumstances the right to cancel their flight and receive reimbursement of the cost of the flight from their airline. Full details of these rights is publicised at EU airports and is also available from affected airlines. However, you should note that reimbursement of the cost of a flight that forms part of your holiday is the responsibility of your holiday airline and will not automatically entitle you to reimbursement of the cost of your holiday from us. 4. What Happens To Holiday Complaints We can usually sort out any complaints you may have. But if we cannot agree, All disputes arising from this contract will be settled by the Court of Rome - Italy who will exercise sole and final judgement thereupon.

7. Personal Injury If you or someone on your holiday booking is injured, falls ill or dies while taking part in an activity which is not part of the holiday, or you need to incur unpredictable extra expenses for which we are not liable because the event is beyond our control (see 'Important Note – Events Beyond Our Control') you will be protected by, Insurance: 4131632/A Navale Insurance. 8. Your Contract By asking us or your travel agent to confirm your booking, you are accepting on behalf of all persons travelling on this booking that the terms of this Agreement, which incorporate the information, restrictions and obligations and the conditions of any terms and conditions of carriage – see Conditions of Your Ticket – constitute the entire agreement between us with regard to your booking and your travel arrangements. You also consent to our processing personal information about you and other members of your party. Where the context permits, reference to “you” and “your” will include you and all persons travelling on this booking. Foro competente It is a condition of booking that you and all members of your party provide certain information that may be sent to governmental authorities and border control and security agencies for the purpose of security and counter terrorism. This is known as Advanced Passenger Information, sometimes known as APIS. The information you must provide will include, but not be limited to, full name - as shown in your passport or travel document, gender, date of birth, travel document type, number, country of issue and expiry date, and for travel to the United States, your country of residence and the address for your first night’s stay. 10. Paying For Your Travel Arrangements You will be required to pay a deposit to us for each person when you book. The deposit amount will be specified by us or your travel agent when your booking is made. Please note your booking deposit may be increased or there may be a charge payable for some accommodation, holidays or flight bookings where it is necessary to secure specific facilities with full payment at the time of booking e.g. weddings, coach touring and specific types of airline tickets. Within two weeks of booking, we will send you a Confirmation Invoice showing how much you owe us. You must pay the amount on the last Invoice issued by us, at least 30 days before you go on holiday. If you don’t, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled and to charge you a cancellation charge up to 100% of the total on that last Invoice. If you pay money for your booking to a travel agent appointed by us, they will hold that money as our agent from the time they receive it until they pay the money to us. If your payment is made by credit card a fee will apply, please check fee at time of booking. We do not accept personal cheques, only building society and bankers' drafts will be accepted. 11. If You Change Your Booking You must ensure all names and details are entered correctly at the time of booking. You will receive an invoice once your booking is confirmed and must contact us straight away if there is something that you need to correct, or if you don’t receive an invoice within 7 days of confirming your booking. Amendments to correct passenger name misspellings will be charged an amendment fee. You may transfer your booking to another person, providing the following conditions are met: - You authorise the change in writing - The new lead passenger accepts the transfer and the terms of Our Agreement - That person complies with the terms of the existing booking - That person has valid holiday insurance – you cannot transfer your holiday insurance to the new lead passenger. We’ll charge amendment fees to change a name on a booking outside 14

days to departure; these will be added to the new invoice. The new lead passenger, and you should they fail to pay, will be responsible for the payment of any balance due on that new invoice. We charge an ‘Amendment Fee’ for each detail of your booking we allow you to change. Please bear in mind that certain airlines and other transport providers treat changes as a cancellation and charge accordingly, up to 100% of the cost for that part of the arrangement. Where applicable these charges will be passed on to you. When changing your holiday details, the price of your new travel arrangements will be based on the price that applies on the day you make the change. These prices may not be the same as when you first made your booking. 12. If You Cancel Your Booking If you want to cancel your booking, or part of it, you must contact us as soon as possible. If you have made your booking through a Travel Agency, your agent must advise us of your request to cancel. Once your booking has been cancelled you can expect to receive a cancellation invoice within 14 days. If you don’t please contact us. To cover the cost of processing your cancellation, and to compensate us for the risk that we may not be able to resell your travel arrangements, we’ll make a cancellation charge on the scale shown below. You are responsible for paying this charge. Guide To Our Cancellation Charges These charges are based on how many days before your booked departure we receive your cancellation notice, and are a percentage of the total cost of your booking, not including your insurance premium. If you want to cancel one or more passengers on the booking you’ll have to pay a proportion of the applicable cancellation charge for those passengers.

Your deposit is non-refundable, even if the cancellation charge calculated is lower than the deposit amount paid. Where extra facilities or transport are non-refundable, in part or in full, the cost of these will be added to the cancellation charge you have to pay. The cancellation charge may be higher for certain travel arrangements, such as coach tours or scheduled airfares. Please ask for details of cancellation charges when you book and check your insurance policy to see if you’d be covered for the cost of any cancellation charges. 13. If You Have A Complaint If you have a complaint about your arrangements whilst away, you must immediately notify the supplier of the service in question locally. If they are unable to resolve the problem immediately, and a member of our staff is not available, you should contact us straight away by phone/fax/email and we will endeavour to assist. If you are still not satisfied on your return home, you must write to our After Travel Customer Support, within 10 days of returning from your holiday to allow your complaint to be investigated properly. Please write your holiday reference number on your letter, and include your daytime and evening telephone numbers. If you do not give us the opportunity to resolve any problem locally by reporting it to the supplier, or calling and informing us, then we may not be able to deal positively with any complaint on your return. 14. The Conditions Of Your Ticket When you travel by air or by sea, your journey may be subject to certain international conventions such as the Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention or Athens Convention. You agree that the transport company’s own ‘Conditions of Carriage’ will apply to you on that journey. When arranging this transportation for you, we rely on the terms and conditions contained within these international conventions and those ‘Conditions of Carriage'. You acknowledge that all of these terms and conditions form part of your contract with us as well as with the transport company. You can ask us or the travel agent booking your holiday to provide you with a copy of any of the conditions applicable to your journey. The airline's terms and conditions are available on request , We will tell you the identity of the air carrier when you book with us and if it is not known at that time or subsequently changes we will inform you as soon as possible and no later than at checkin for your flight.
