spring/summer 2015 issue
hello there! We’re all about bold statements and vivid colours this season. Our Spring/Summer ‘15 collection offers a mix of decorative items that brings together timeless heritage pieces with contemporary aesthetics. During our curation process, one theme that really stood out for us was the revival of Chinoiserie decor. We love how romantically stylish these pieces are, and how easy they are to match with modern accents. Another home accessory we wanted to bring to this collection is the good ol’ area rug. We wanted this collection to sum up pieces that define spaces, frame ambiences and convey personality to welcome you and your guests everytime you step into your home. Happy decorating! The Origins of chinoiserie In the 17th and 18th centuries, adventurers and traders ventured Eastward and a fascination with all things Oriental swept Europe. With the earliest hints of Chinoiserie appearing in the 17th century, the fantastical Chinese art distinct to the form soon became more apparent in the nations with active East India Companies like Holland, England and Portugal. Today, a similar effect of worldly sophistication is achieved with the use of exotic Chinese imagery on furniture, interiors and ceramics.

sTYLING with Chinoiserie • Don’t overdo it Mix traditional blue & white with modern and neutral pieces so that your decor stands out.
• Diversity in shape add character Have a mix of oddly shaped jars and porcelain pieces to give your tabletop or shelf structure depth and personality.
• Think versatility Our jars are pretty on their own with multiple functions for use as a flower jar or elegant storage piece. Pick full white blooms for the perfect Chinoiserie setup.

oNE RUG TO RULE THEM ALL A rug can set the tone, colour scheme and comfort of your favourite spaces at home. While some leave rug choices to the very end, here are a few tips to keep in mind to ensure you pick the perfect rugs for your home.

cHOOSING THE RIGHT RUG • Pick the right size Rugs help to define the space boundaries within a room. If you’re planning for a rug to be the centerpiece don’t skimp on the size - it’ll make your room look smaller. If you’re choosing a rug for your living room, always pick one large enough so that at least the front legs of the furniture are on it.
• Layer This is also great if you decide that the rug you’ve bought is too small for your space. Head out and pick up a larger one that will compliment it and layer your rugs for a great stacked look.
• Don’t be afraid of patterns Pick a rug that will bring conversation. Printed rugs also help give your space depth and character.
