exterior reflectivity

With the high polish mirror inside the boxes, reflects image of cityscape, each box gives different image and different story. The purpose to bring image of cityscape inside the design and the design is the new member of the city.

The Aluminum composite is chosen to be the exterior of the design, with matte finish aluminum dose not reflect clear image as high polish finish. The reason is, not to make the design disappear with its environment, if it reflect the clear image then it dose not show itself.

60 profile angle The height and the angle of the roof is designed to approach human comfort. At the profile angle of 40° in summer solstice and 60° in winter solstice. The building surround already provide shading from 9 am to 4 pm through the year, so the roof need to provide shade only 7 hrs a day.

ventilation

At the site, there is already good ventilation because it’s at cavity between 2 building. In the design there are in let and out let for ventilation, the wind can blow through from south to north and between each boxes.

Kai Tak master plan

Project type: Urban planing Duration: Semester 2 year 4, 1.3 months Individual project Location: Kai Tak Airport, Kowloon Bay, west Kowloon, Hong Kong Usable area: 10.1 square kilometer Concept: Bringing green to Hong Kong

This project is urban planing under the area of 10 square meter, aims to develop this former airport to be new urban area of Hong Kong. As well as research about the existing around the site which is directly effected to the development planing. The requirement of this project included residential area, commercial area, government office and green public space.

The initial concept of the master planing is the connect the east Kowloon to the west Kowloon by soften the edge of the airport which Prince Edward road. By introduce more road across the site and tunnel under the water body, traffic that’s always crowned at Prince Edward Road is less. Traveling time fro one side of Kowloon Peninsula to another side is less. Further more, integration of green space and water body provide better living standard to Hong Kong people and new look of the Victoria Harbor water edge.

diagram of entrances Building Form is influenced by surrounding forces Force 01 Influence of activities from Kowloon City Additional functional bridge to connect the shopping mall building from the new extension Kowloon city grid as in Kai Tak urban design master plan. The bridge brings commercial activities to the site, in order to create connectivity and continuity form urban fabric. Force 02 Greenery and Water body The natural elements force the design to have open space for visitor to receive experience from the environment. Opening at the G floor suggests the force of water body, this space allow activity that have relationship to water, yet receive ventilation and connection to the big green open space. As well as the skyPark, it has gotten the force fromthe residential island which just across the lake to open the space for natural ventilation and provide green space to the building.

the transparency of the building envelop let people from the outside to see circulation and activities inside the building. The advantage of its context that is surrounded by natural element provides.
