The Mission2022 Behind the Missouri Women’s Center Honorees The Missouri Women’s Business Center (MoWBC) is dedicated to breaking down barriers to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial success, with a focus on women, minorities, and low-to-moderate income-based businesses. We assist entrepreneurs as they plan, start, build, and scale their businesses by providing accessible resources, programming, and whole health business coaching, at no cost, to all our clients.

MeetOur OurEmcee Emcee Meet Erin Hart

Co-Host of Mornings on 94.3 KAT Country Erin Hart is living her dream, recently reunited with her Hilley and Hart co-host, Kevin Hilley, and delivering a fun and fast paced morning show every weekday morning! She is a proud Callaway County native, having been raised in Holts Summit, MO, and is a graduate of Jefferson City High School. Erin has been the voice of Mornings on 94.3 KAT Country since July of 2008 and has hosted afternoons on 101.3 Real Country in Springfield since November 2020. Having been awarded one Missouri Broadcasters Award, many MBA nominations, a 2021 ACM nomination for Morning Show and Station of the Year, a 2022 Marconi Radio Award Nominee for Small Market Personality of the Year and Country Station of the Year, Erin is a well-established and recognized personality and local influencer in the mid-Missouri area. She has also won Jefferson City Magazine’s award for Best Radio Personality for 2020-2022 and is a Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Exceptional Employee 2020 finalist. She just returned from New York last week, where she and her co-host won the Marconi Award for Small Market Personality of the Year from the National Association of Broadcasters. When Erin is not on the air, she loves to curl up with a good book, which ties in with the fact that was awarded the 2021 Missouri River Regional Library Ambassador of the Year! She also is a total movie junkie, loves to travel, and spends time outdoors with her husband, Rich, and dog, Gemma.


Meet2022 Our Featured HonoreesSpeaker Chrystal L.

Liquid Hair Institute Chrystal L. is a Master Stylist, makeup artist, hairstylist educator, salon owner, non-profit co-founder, diversity strategist, and founder of Liquid Hair Institute. Her main mission is to create equality and equity within the beauty industry and to rally all future beauty leaders to work together to ensure that diversity is not optional in the industry, but necessary. She founded Liquid Hair Institute to teach salon owners how to create a systematized, profitable, inclusive, and scalable beauty businesses that align with their retirement goals - all while excelling in their craft! Alongside her ventures in the hair industry, she is a devoted mother of three and a co-founder of The BOLD Academy, a non-profit organization. Her goal in life is to always foster inclusion, empower others to shine, and inspire others to leave their mark in the dynamic hair industry.


2023 Honorees April Thomas The Sparkly Pig Entrepreneur of the Year — Audrain County April is a wife and mother to a sweet baby girl. She is the owner of The Sparkly Pig, which she built from scratch in 2016. April’s greatest passions are her family, religion, and business. She values the extended family of women that owning her business has brought into her life. She loves being there for all of these women and helping them feel great about themselves.

Krystal Martin K&K Co. Entrepreneur of the Year — Boone County Krystal started K&K Co. as a way to channel her grief into something positive after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. K&K Co. makes clean body products and candles that are designed to help customers feel their best. In addition to their products, they host workshops and community events where people can learn to make their own candles and soaps. They also host conversations with doulas and therapists for those would like to connect with other women who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. K&K Co.’s goal is to create a community of people invested in each other’s well-being and happiness.


2023 Honorees Beth Snyder Call Me Liz; Hemlock Goods; Court Street Custom Fulfillment Entrepreneur of the Year — Callaway County From a young age, Beth loved all things arts and crafts. As a high schooler in the midnineties, her first business was successful enough to put her through college. Beth graduated from the University of Missouri with a BFA in fibers and graphic design. She has worked in television design and as an art director for magazines, but now owns and operates several creative product and logistics businesses in Fulton. Her bandana business, Hemlock Goods, is sold in 3500 retail stores around the world. Her 3PL fulfillment warehouse employs more than 20 people in Fulton and serves small gift company clients. Call Me Liz, Beth’s management company, brings industry expertise and management to bespoke product brands. For fun, she works more, starts business books, and travels!

Laci Jo Rains She’s Native Entrepreneur of the Year — Cole County Laci Jo and her husband have two wonderful kids and a loving pitbull. Through She’s Native, her mission is to empower and uplift the women entrepreneurs of Missouri. Through their subscription boxes, they offer a personal way for these entrepreneurs to showcase their products. She’s Native also provides invaluable business-to-business services, including networking opportunities and professional development to help women-owned businesses thrive and connect with like-minded individuals. One of the most rewarding aspects for Laci is creating personalized curated boxes for businesses. She takes pride in crafting memorable and meaningful experiences.


2023 Honorees Holly Bozarth Simpson Hotel Frederick Entrepreneur of the Year — Cooper County Holly is the owner of Hotel Frederick, a historic boutique hotel in her hometown of Boonville, MO. She had the opportunity (or sheer madness) to acquire this business in the midst of COVID after having managed it since 2013. A hands-on owner, Holly manages all aspects of the business, including staff development, customer relations, accounting, marketing, supply ordering, event planning, maintenance oversight and has been known to tend bar and clean toilets in a pinch. She considers her 24 employees family, and together, they have welcomed guests from all over the world to central Missouri. Holly is a graduate of Truman State University and loves to travel, create unique art pieces, read, and spend time with her three amazing kids, family, friends, and her crazy cat, Isla!

Nichole Atkins Fireside Bakes and Brews Entrepreneur of the Year — Howard County Nichole started her culinary journey learning to bake with her grandfather as a child. That journey took her to Iowa Western Community College, where she received a degree in culinary arts. She then worked as a chef for Union Pacific, traveling the country. She also worked for a large church and hospital. All along, she dreamed of owning her own business. Fireside Bakes and Brews is the culmination of this dream. It started as a mobile coffee shop in a renovated vintage camper. After being so well-received in Fayette, she purchased a location and set up Fireside, a place to gather. All of this would not be possible without the support of Nichole’s spouse, Ryan, best friend, Olivia, and multiple other family and friends.


2023 Honorees Tiffany Burns Vantage Supported Living Entrepreneur of the Year — Moniteau County Tiffany is a graduate of Missouri State University with a bachelor’s of science in psychology and a minor in legal studies. Tiffany applied to become a state-licensed mental health provider in 2018 and opened Vantage Supported Living in the fall of 2019. In 2021, she expanded her business into Moniteau County, where she has purchased five properties, opened 10 homes, and created jobs for over 30 employees in the last two years. Tiffany provides care for 10 individuals with developmental disabilities in Moniteau County and is currently working on developments for a transportation company and behavioral day program in the area. She serves on the Board of Directors for Central Missouri Community Action, Capital Region Board of Governors and is the 2024 co-chair for Project Homeless Connect.

Christina Laughlin Sweet Bee’s Shaved Ice, LLC Entrepreneur of the Year — Osage County Christina is the proud owner of Sweet Bee’s Shaved Ice, LLC, in Linn, MO. Together with her family, friends, and some incredible community members’ support, she founded Sweet Bee’s Shaved Ice in 2021. They offer a range of delicious treats, including flavored shaved ice, slushies, frozen lemonades, and stuffed shaved ice. Their business has been thriving for three years, and they have given back over $3,000 to various organizations in the community. Christina is a mom to two very active and athletic boys.
